Men of War: Vietnam Gameplay [ PC HD ]

Men of War: Vietnam is a new game for the critically acclaimed series. The new, story-driven campaign lets you taste the explosive mix of the jungle, Hueys and rock-n-roll in 1968. During this conflict the US troops were using not only new weapons, but new tactics as well. The war in Vietnam became the first military conflict where helicopters played a significant role, and this is one of the major features of this game. The campaign is 10 missions and focuses on a team of elite special ops soldiers, and each one of them has a personality. The unit includes Sergeant John Merrill, machinegunner Jim Walsh, sniper Sonny Armstrong, grenade launcher operator Carl Dillan and combat engineer Bill Kirby. In some missions they can count only on themselves, while in the others they act together with regular US and South-Vietnamese troops. Missions range from special operations (rescuing a shot-down pilot, escorting a reporter, etc.) to full scale battles.

Wasn't 'un-winnable' in any way. The U.S. government just wanted to be the 'Good Guys' and not go into North Vietnam. We came on behalf of the South Vietnamese, and the politicians wanted to play politics and use the war in their re-election campaigns. By saying they weren't moving north, they could say they weren't escalating the war. Yet by doing that, we were just playing defense, and you can only do that so long.
I think it's also worth noting that the Vietnam conflict is the first time Congress was filled with a majority of business majors, lawyers, and political majors instead of veterans. Ever since then our politics have really been in the shitter.
Either way, the Americans killed tons of the North Vietnamese, and won practically every battle. If the military was allowed to do what it needed to do, then they would have went north and taken it all. Oh well, Instead of turning out like Japan, Germany, or Korea (other nations the Americans went through, and that accepted us and turned out to now be major powers and GDP powerhouses) they took Socialism and Communism. Now they are just a backwater third world country. Woot!

Going by casualties inflicted, the US forces did horrific damage to the NVA and had it been a conventional war like Korea and WWII, time would have seen them victorious. The problem was the war was anything but conventional, with misguided motivations, nefarious politicians and a press/sections of the populace that lacked the stomach for a fight which in the end, spelled doom for the otherwise excellent efforts of the US Army, Marines and their allies.
In the end, America's biggest enemies were the ideals of free expression and liberty (the seemingly biased media and the hippy movement being the prominent examples) it oddly enough, were trying to guarantee for the South Vietnamese.

This game does have a South Vietnam faction but it can't be played in Singleplayer but you can play it in Multiplayer.
