    I went the other way. Sold my 11mm and now looking at this the 10-18 F4, and Zeiss 18mm F2.8

      It mainly depends on what you do. I prefer to use the 24-70 at 24 which has 2.8 . The 20 mm doesn't have a use for me. But I needed a wide lens for small house interior for making Timelapses. what lens did you end buying and what's your feedback?

    For the FX30 what will be better for deep focus shots/medium shots (outdoor) 10-20mm or Sony 14mm(21mm in APS-C) 1.8?

      I made this video comparing the 10-20 f4 with 11mm f1.8 . I have full frame and still prefer prime over zoom. With apsc where noise could be worse I would go for aperture over zoom.

    I have watched your video and loved it. I am considering buying for my a7c. I am fed up with carrying huge wide lenses. If possible, could you please upload (1 or 2) photos that you took in crop mode? I don't where but I can share my email.

    I wonder if you have compare the bokeh in the background between 11mm F4 FF mode + active stabilization vs 11mm F4 ASPC mode. Since you got a F4 lens, you might need to target something very close to the lens in order to see the bokeh in the background. I wonder if bokeh will be stronger in FF mode. i think best test with 11mm f1.8

      I’m not sure if I made that comparison but I guess bokeh at f4 should be pretty much identical.

      @@ShadesOfTech Hi, I looked at the video but it seems didn't have the information I am looking for. In fact I am interested in 11mm f1.8 secret FF mode + active stabilization vs 11mm F1.8 ASPC mode regarding the bokeh in the background. I am just trying to understand if secret full frame mode will actually make the bokeh more creamy in the background.

    • @ShadesOfTech
      @ShadesOfTech  Před rokem +1

      Oh that’s your question. No the secret full frame mode is just a crop on the sensor. No quality loss but it’s an artificial zoom so you don’t have more compression it’s just the same bokeh you have with 11mm but it looks like a 12 because it’s more zoomed in due to active stabilisation

    • @staffadmin
      @staffadmin Před rokem +1

      @@ShadesOfTech The reason I am asking because the bokeh will be less creamy on ASPC Camera when you compare it to a Full frame Camera using the exact same lens and exact same aperture. By the same token, I would expect 11mm f1.8 secret FF mode should have more bokeh in background compare against the same lens run in ASPC mode. I just want to confirm this....

      @@staffadmin I don’t use apsc cameras because I don’t like the oversharpened look, so I can’t possibly test what you’re asking since I don’t own an apsc camera.
      If you use it on an apsc camera it will be sharper and less creamy than what you’ve seen in my video

    The two things you don't like are actually good. First, the zoom allows you to lose vignetting on the full frame at 12mm, which you will not be able to avoid with a prime lens, ie you will have to use clear image zoom, and then you lose face af. The second f4 is not so bad for real estate shot, because you need everything to be in focus and sharp, while with f1.8 you will have background blur.
    Otherwise a good review with a lot of things shown, thanks.

      Thanks a lot for the feedback,
      I made another specific video comparing 11mm and 10-20mm if you are interested.
      Personally i just crop in post like 10% and you won’t notice a big difference. I don’t use ciz.
      True about real estate but I noticed that f4 apsc on full frame is not f4 it’s more than f4. The result is that in medium light shots there was a lot o noise.
      If the house is well lit no problem but it’s really a shame to throw away a day of work for noise. 11mm if you want you can go f4 and have everything in focus but 10-20 you can’t go f1.8 if it’s too dark you need to increase iso or lighting

      @@ShadesOfTech Good point. I have an A7C, and I use a Canon 10-22mm with an adapter, but it is a huge and too heavy lens, and for working on a gimbal, one of these sony lenses would be more suitable for me. I will still have to look into all the options, thanks for the reply.

      @@ShadesOfTech can you make a video on ZV E1 + 10-18mm AND dynamic active stabe? How would the crop look like? I'm about to buy the ZV E1 but I don't like that crop factor. However if it just works on 10mm without any further zooming, then it's an interesting option. Theoretically it should work.
      Thanks

    Using this lens on full frame is actually a terrible idea with the previous version (10-18mm) existing and lenses built for FF like the Samyang 14mm AF. You add the fact that the external zone is way more distorded than the rectilinear center and you see why it would be a really bad idea to do that
