      If you like stronger coffee, you should use fine grind, and even espresso grind... you should not wait to press, or hold for 1 minute, as that causes the acidic flavor to come out... just press slower... also I will point out that you filled the Aeropress upside down... this is based on my experience. Also get a metal mesh filter, so you get the oils from the coffee, and you will have an exceptional coffee...

      That's the way to do it when you're making "full immersion" coffee (French Press style) as opposed to making espresso.

    I can't believe what you just did. Why did you compare a full brewed coffee from chemex to a DILUTED coffee from the aeropress, even though you could have done a full brew from the aeropress to have a fair comparison? When you dilute the coffee coming from the aeropress, the coffee becomes a lot sweeter and the difference between a full brew and semi brew diluted is amusing. That's just not fair

  • @km6206
    @km6206 Pƙed 3 lety

    Aeropress didn't win statistically. Still can determine if it's not 50/50. So, with that few people tasting, you would need 10 tasters out of 12 to prefer Aeropress over Chemex to get a standard p < 0.05 level. Or, to put it a different way, if 5 folks preferred Chemex, then you would need 15 other folks to prefer Aeropress reach the p < 0.05 level (so that would be a total of 20 tasters). If there is a preference, it is probably small, and you would need to have a lot of tasters to find it. So, we didn't really learn anyway from this video....

      Aeropress, there's just so much you could do with it that it never gets old.

      Chemex. I enjoy the time it takes and the little effort you put in.
      It's a nice way to start a day.
      I roast my own beans in a popcorn popper the night before. That's the secret right there, beans as fresh as possible.

    I think you should have used the recommended brew method for the Aeropress during a taste test.
    I went with the inverted method when I first purchased the Aeropress because I didn't care for the initial seepage you get before stirring but after several months changed to the recommended method and saw an improvement in taste with much faster cleanup. I've come to believe that reducing wet time is the key.

      @JayFunningham Pƙed 4 lety +2

      I can almost guarantee that changing from regular/inverted isn't what caused the difference. Are you sure there's nothing else in your technique that's been altered?

      Talal Aljabri v60 is pretty much the same as chemex. There both a pour over method compares to the pressure method of the aero press.

      Vlog Central this is true but chemex has way way thicker filters so it steals a bit more body from the cup

      big different indeed .... i actually think Chemex make steady good coffee and hard to fuck up... V60 is very varied and harder to control result... if you like cleaner cup lighter body go with Chemex.. but you can also achieve that with V60 too

    Fun video thanks, but no scientist would sign off on this test. a. Results were so close they are utterly inconclusive (aka meaningless) b. the test samples should be served in same colour cups at the same temperature. c. same test should be repeated x >= 3 d. the order in which the cups are offered should be alternated.

    You did not do a fair comparison because it is not the product that won. It is the brewing method. How can infusion drip surpass the extraction of infusion and pressure. Also, your coffee to water ratios were off. For fun, it's ok. Have fun. I bet on the aeropress.
