I'm a Dubliner and in fairness this part of Parnell street was always dodgy. It's pretty safe during the day but I wouldn’t hang around at night. Tourist hostels and hotels are now homeless and asylum seeker hostels so this is not a positive contribution to the city. I swear the government and DCC have decided to write off certain areas and purposly create "multicultural " ghettos.

Needless to say I won't be joining my wife this year for our annual visit to see her family. It's to depressing for me. She'll fly over for a quick week in January when it's cheap to see her parents etc etc and then gone. We use to have fun and pop around seeing friends having pints and dinner. Not this year to expensive to experience the mess and state of things. I hope things change its really a beautiful country and the Irish culture is great, probably more Irish culture in Australia now than Ireland.
