Disclaimer! I'm over all these comments saying I don't know color theory or what primary colors are. Sometimes I say stupid shit in my videos or I don't explain what I'm saying well enough. This was one of those times. The bleach removed the pigment from the purple color in her hair which revealed her previously colored blue hair underneath. Thats all I was trying to say.
As a hairdresser I always have this problem with removing purple from peoples hair! And I’m always confused! Lol 😂 no matter what color line it always turns that weird minty green! There’s probably a multitude of reasons why it happens, and whenever it does I always say something different! It’s lame that people say that because you obviously understand color theory, and I liked your idea! Peeps need to get over themselves 🤷🏻♀️

My personal guess is that the direct dye she used had a lot more blue in it/was a more blue based purple(blue+red=purple for those who might be confused) and since it had a lot less red pigment in it, it pulled the red out first and she was left with the blue at first until it lifted out(probably some time during the second or third bleaching.) And if I REALLY had to guess the first time pushed that blue farther into her cuticle because you normally aren't supposed to use regular bleach on direct dyes(for nonprofessionals reading, they make special products to remove those bright semi permanent dyes, please don't put bleach on them because you can really risk never getting them out and permanently staining your hair, I've seen it happen plenty of times) because of this so she bleached it the other two times to try to get it out and it probably only came out because it was too fried to properly hold color in anymore.
I've had my hair purple before and one of the direct dyes I tried did have a more blue base and when I lifted it more to make it a brighter purple it did end up turning blue with the lightener on it.
But leave Brad alone people, he knows his stuff, he got his words and stuff mixed up for a second and I as a hairdresser myself can vouche for the fact that we have a lot of stuff to remember, and just because you can't always word it right at a given moment doesn't mean it's not right in your head. Considering he's been this successful as a hair stylist thus far I'd say he's got it straight in his head when he's mixing color formulas and that's what actually counts.

As someone that used to have super long hair to cover bald spots I would sometimes get because I have alopecia. 3 years ago I lost all my hair, I now have alopecia universalis, I don’t even have eyebrows and I occasionally lose fingernails. I just cannot understand continually ruining your hair especially if you feel like it’s what defines you. I’m glad she came to accept herself and I def think it looks absolutely amazing!

Because the bleach over processed her hair and the fact that the bottom hair had been bleached previously. I bleached my natural red hair blonde and hated it. Now its back to red again and not damaged like it was, but I had to cut it and let it regrow.

My friend dyed her hair purple and instead it went the most GORGEOUS shade of blue. So cut to 4 weeks later and she’s now in the process of trying and failing to replicate the colour, and her hair is just all different patches of purple and blue in the back underneath. 😂

Okayokayokay Brad listen. The purple to blue hair thing. I had art class in 8th grade - and now nine years later it’s my time to shine. Purple is achieved by mixing blue and red. And according to my hairstylist bleach removes the red pigments natural hair colours contain. Sooo when bleach is put on top of purple it removes the red and you are left with *da da daaah* blue!
Thank you past me for choosing art class instead of an extra language. I knew some day it would come in handy 😂

The shorter hair reveals so much more of her natural features, it looks so good! She not only learned a tough lesson, but she came out the other side with an awesome cut and color, and discovered her hair length doesn't define her. I cut my hair off two years ago, from past my butt up to just above my shoulder blades. It was still a lot of hair for most people, but it induced a panic attack for me. My long hair had always been complimented, recognized and a huge part of my identity. So I can empathize with her. After that I figured out it was fine, I looked fine, I was still me.

Her hair turned green because of the undertones in the purple. Depending on the brand of dye she used it Will turn green. Some brands use more blue tones to make a deeper purple and some brands use more red tones to make a lighter magenta-ish purple.... "claps" science. 😂 @BradMondo I love you!!! even if you don't know what you're doing, you should know bleaching your hair 3 times in the span of 5 hours is going to ruin your hair. might as well cut it all off at that point. i had my hair bleached twice but had 2 weeks in between each bleaching

Demi Walker people don't realize bleach is a chemical.. it breaks down bacteria and stuff making it hella strong, NEVER bleach your hair twice in a row within a weeks period. make sure to keep at least two weeks in between each bleaching

my hair is thick but each hair is like silk fine. I can't even bleach my hair one time without damige. i have to be sooo careful with bleach that I usually just do a bleach wash and call it a day. 3 times! forget it I would go bald!

I’ve had hair loss since I was 8 years old, now 25. I can tell you I tied my self-confidence to my hair (I was modeling and was starting rehearsals for a Broadway show). Now, I see hair as something that doesn’t define me, but something I can play with like an outfit.
Don’t be afraid of buying a wig prior to damaging your hair. There are so many awesome companies out there now. It can be cost effective and also less time consuming.

So like two years ago, I wanted light pink hair. Naturally, my hair is curly and brown. My mum supported me but would not let me bleach my own hair (we have dyed more often at home, but bleaching was scary to her) so we went to a hairsalon for colouring hair. I sat in my chair and looked at these girls getting beeeaaautiful hairdos with all different kinds of colours and I was so excited for mine. I got bleached twice, my hairdresser had to leave and I got a different one. I showed many, many pictures of the light pinks I wanted and got a hot pink, exactly like hers. I was crying, they told me it would wash out, but I didnt dare leave the house. I washed my hair soo many times, desperate to get it out, crying all the while, but my hair turned out the way hers in the video was, hot pink at the top and lighter at the ends. It was awful and damaged, wouldnt curl. I called again and they scheduled me in to correct it. I was bleached again, and got a lighter pink which was still way too dark. My hair was dead and straight. The only time I was happy was when the pink got out and I dyed it myself over the bleach. Two years later and my hair is still a mess. Half of it is now damaged, dead, while the new upperhalf is curly and healthy. This results in a curl that bends halfway to just die off. It is awful. Just a PSA for all of you..
You could always cut off the damaged part and let it grow or shave it completely and wear wigs till it regrows.
