I learned how to drive in an 86 Z28 IROC. 5.0 liter tuned port injection with the four speed automatic. I bottomed out that front spoiler 1,000 times. I don't know how it didn't just snap off.
@@Jay10292 This takes TIME. Be thorough, not fast. Start by narrowing down the problem to the specific cylinder. To pinpoint which cylinder is the problem, I would try various things below but there may be more than 1 cylinder that has a problem. #1. Pull and review the engine codes and on this car there is a way to ground the test lead and read the codes for free without a scan tool. Do that first and address the codes before trying the following. But sometimes a code will not tell you Which cylinder is bad. So then proceed to next step. #2. Do a compression check to eliminate internal engine problems. #3. Remove the spark plugs and check for 1 or 2 that are fouled out or flooded. If you find a plug that looks worse than the others, then replace the plug. Also check for "spark" at the plug. There are inline test lights or even timing lights that you can use to check for electricity running through the wire. Replace any bad Wires with OEM wires. Do not use low resistance wires. I had a 97 Z28 and did that, and it through the circuits out of balance and started popping coils because of OHMs law and how the load shifts when you change the resistance of the plug Wires. So only use OEM wires or similar quality OEM wires. Not the Hi performance wires. #4. Buy a stethoscope and touch the end on each fuel injector and listen for a ticking sound. If 1 or 2 injectors do not tick, then replace them! If you still do not hear a clicking sound with a NEW injector, then verify the wiring harness connection for that injector. #5. Remove and inspect the Distributor Cap. Clean the contact points inside the cap! #6. Check Ignition coil. #7. Verify Fuel Pressure is adequate. #8 If you did all that, and problem persists, last resort, try a replacement ECM. #9. You may try a HELM Service manual to see what it recommends too. Note: This 3rd gen camaro engine is only good for about 135k miles based on average maintenance and what a salvage yard man told me in Tulsa about 20 years ago! This man ran a salvage named B&R Camaro Salvage. That is all they did back then. Just Camaros and firebirds. They pieced F-bodys together and sold them and maintain a full array of Camaro parts back in the day. You can Trust him and me, when I say these engines begin burning oil and fizzle out around 135k miles. So I would suspect low compression and/or cam shaft lobes worn by 135k miles. So yes, it will run rough like that with low compression due to bad piston rings or cam shaft worn out. But doing a compression check will indirectly check all that internal stuff. except bearings. haha but bearings usually make "noise" when they go bad and they won't really cause misfiring.. czcams.com/video/zCR6wahr9FU/video.html
@@mrchad97z4986 Camaro is not fuel injection it’s carburetor unless it’s a 4 cylinder if Im correct they introduced fuel injection to 4cylinders in 1984 and for the v8 models not till 87
I wish I still had my camaro. Everything worked on it. Had a little over 120,000 on it when I traded it in. It was a 1987 Z28 TPI. could really hall ass and hug the corners. Sounded a lot better than this thing, and inside was all together. Bad idea to rev it like that
Lemme know if you get those damn gauges to work, got an 82 with a bunk fuel and temp gauge, someone told me something about some green wires under the dash that get liquid on them somehow from the out side a/c inlet…idk 3rd gen Camaro brothers! Bow tie till I die, or it kills me…hehe
Hey this might be a weird question but how do you put the horn cover back on? The last owner of mine took it off And i cant find out how to put it back
The fact none of the gauges work, classic 3rd gen.
lol mine works fine never been replaced
Funny, I’ve had a total of 16 thirdgen F-bodies and all of the factory gauges worked flawlessly.
Terrible year for Camaro 😢. Really the dowo
Especially true on the berlinetta
It sounds like me tryna start up my snappy lawnmower!
Had a 62k 1989 5 speed 2.8 and loved it, 600 bucks hood bent up from hitting deer
My first car was an 86 iroc z28. Loved that car
Iraq 😂😂😂
@@Dakeron corrected dork
They drove really nice. It wasn't a bolt of lightning but they ran good and looked amazing.

That thing is definitely seen better days. Holy smokes.
That sounds like one of the cylinders ain’t firing right
right Major mis.. 1 or more cylinders are not firing. Electrical problem. I'm not sure why he is pumping the gas pedal if it is fuel injection.
@@mrchad97z49 where would you start looking if this was your issue cause that’s how mine sounds & the car been sitting for 10 plus years

I hope everything works out and you end up with one beautiful car
Swap it! Same cash
Or be original
