A gentleman Who always Respected his Profession,Sadly Lacking in todays Boxers...RIP to a great man..never forgotten
Sorry but which boxers are you referring to that disrespect their profession
paul jackson How do they disrespect their profession
@@robertobrien3571 If you Don't know i'm not going to tell you,Look it up yourself
boxers have always been toxic to eachother...
@paul jackson.👍 I agree with you. They must take time to search the internet. If one does not know how athletes are disrespectful nowadays, they are out of this world.
i shook this mans hand in the 80's when i was a kid, i didnt know who he was at the time but ill never forget the size of his hands and the smile on his face.
Thats cool
Adam G nice one 👌
Henry Cooper was a credit to boxing, his country, & himself, when they made him they threw the mold away, an absolute gentleman.
Totally agree very well said.
harpothehealer. 👍.
Cooper was a true gentleman. Both Ali and cooper were larger than life giants. Although we all know about the greatness of Ali, Cooper was very very down to earth. Both sadly missed.
A true gent of the ring. "Henry's hammer" Just a shame he cut so easy.
The forest don't care how much you bleeded
If only he had “negroid features “ ! Lol
He cut easy but it didn’t hamper is career.
He was a top domestic level fighter. Far short of world class. He didn’t have the best of chins. He was sparked out by both Johansson and Patterson. I think it was only the Ali fights he got stopped by cuts
@@hotrodd29 "Far short of world class......." Which obviously explains why he was fast enough, and skilled enough to smash Ali at his physical peak.
So much has changed since Henry’s glory days, sadly not for the better. We won’t see his like ever again nor Ali’s either. Henry was a tough guy in the ring but a total gentleman out of it, loved his wife and raised his kids well, the epitome of a proper man.
Henry Cooper and his awesome left hook- a boxing LEGEND. The only man to put Ali down when he was his peak of fitness. Henry was cheated out of the victory by Dundee and the 'damaged' glove. An absolute gentleman-much loved and sadly missed!
This dude still looks like a tough guy
Brandon Holmes he died in 2011 mate.
He died 6 years ago
Ye think he faked his death he was in my fish and chip shop cupple of weeks ago
A legendary boxer and personality thats why his still a legend today.
mr. Cooper still a heavy weight in my heavyweight champion in my eyes. Boxers of this time for real boxing real men.
He was an honorable man and very tough
He was to small for a heavy weight could have been a great cruiser or even light heavy.
He was only Commonwealth Champion because he refused to fight George Chuvalo.
I've never heard Muhammad Ali so humble
Well said
The closest Ali ever got to being put to sleep was from a Cooper left hook.
Closer than Frazier...? I doubt it
@Jakethemuss lies Ali was playing with him
@Jakethemuss Ali got back up pretty quick and its proven the gloves thing took seconds nothing more its an urban Myth, and im a brit.....Ali the greatest...
@@kevinmunday5782 Ali Bomaye! Ali Bomaye!
@@kevinmunday5782 Dundee confirmed this I think. The smelling salts that were used were illegal. Ali should have been DQ'd quite frankly, and had he gone down 20 seconds earlier, he would have been knocked out. Sure, Ali was the better fighter, but this was a miraculous and sketchy escape for him. It was Henry's night.
I used to work as apart time chef at a golf club he was a member of, he was an absolute gent, very polite and humble.
A lovely look back at Henry who died 2011 and his wife who passed away in 2008.
From a Scotsman,he's our Henry and should have been the World Champion.
Great guy...
Says a lot for the person Henry Cooper was that Ali once he had met him in the first fight did not trash talk him.
One of the best in and outside the ring. No ego a true gentleman, not like the so called champs today they don't even come close.
What a man what a fighter rip Henry
Even though Ali is my all time favorite i don't see how he would have survived that kd without Angelo in his corner.
Ali was blind in 1 round in the Liston fight and won. Never count him out(No Pon Intended) He seemed to find a way of winning.
Thank you Henry x a true British Gentleman.
Pity that people have all but forgotten about Joe Bugner, the other Brit who fought Ali twice. Like Cooper he lost twice, but went the distance in each. He also had a win over Cooper for the British title.
Sir Henry was a real class act!! true Gentleman , lovely proper Man!!
Albina was a gem of a woman loved Henry so much
The great Henry Cooper. The only slight on his name, is, i just discovered he actually left *South London* to go and live, in all places, North London. The greatest punch ever thrown in a British ring‼❕‼❕‼
tough man family man good man , 100% respect
Thank for the video.
Legendary cooper!.....🥊
Imagine him and his Brother looking to sort you out. Scary looking dudes to say the least.
Henry's brother george(jim) was a pro boxer aswell, but suffered badly from cuts. Them high cheekbones were a curse, there was another brother (bern) who was older than the twins.
@@johncena5299 You should be more respectful.
@@johncena5299 And if you have nothing polite or interesting to say, you should stop interrupting adults.
@@johncena5299 If you understood the principles of boxing, or indeed any martial art, you would have learnt respect.
bad looking cats
He was a nice guy .I met him in VIP area at a golf tournament when I was 14 . Was a big deal to me .
Remember seeing Henry’ at his green grocer shop in Ealing Road Wembley’ and golf course opposite the Hoover building’ Greenford’.....🥊 Legend.
I liked his left Hooks his technique was on point😉👍
Ive personally very briefly met Henry twice, both times an honour, a true gentleman......
National treasure
Respect. I love this British man.
from France a real champ in and out the ring !
No, he was English.
@@thomashardcastle7231 i know sir Henry Cooper! ,but i am French ! without the story of he glove destroyed by Angelo Dundee Cooper beat Ali this day!
@@renebaills6168 You knew Sir Henry Cooper!? Amazing! How did you know him?
Considering Ali was in his peak Cooper gave him his hardest fights and was at least level on points in both fights
Dirty tactics from Ali corner.
Ali's hardest fights were from frazier, not cooper.
@@jerrylanglois7892 I'm talking before the 3 and a half years
@@bigdaddy4069 Then, why didn't you specify ?
Jerry Langlois he meant in his prime Ali whooped frazeir after prime
God bless 'Enry Cooper.
What a champ he was RIP
Good to see his happy in his life.
My Dad met him back in the 80s when he was a taxi driver. He said Henry was a true gentleman.
funny.. about ted bundy ppl talk same
hk 🤣🤣🤣
HENRY 👊🏻
Top video thanks
What an era 🇬🇧
Needless to say,he knocked Ali in a fight..how many did that?!??
jony brandaoz no one
Denis Sulovic wrong
jony brandaoz 2 I think
@@johncena5299 Cooper and Frazier...and Sonny Banks.
Faze Qaisbomb ye I know
A truly solid boxer
Wow, he still his normal speech. A lot of them have problems.
Hes dead
a class act, wish i could have met him
I went to Sir Henry Cooper high school in Hull , England .
An absolute gentleman of the ring and family man
If only sportsman today had that type of attitude to family and the sport they chosen
Earning 10/20 times more than mr Cooper did
They seem to squander and cheat in relationships and sport
The last of a true British hero with values and genuine respect for opponents
What a legend
Takes me back to my childhood. Also, my brother and I had boxing gloves bought us when I was 5 and my brother 7, we used to knock lumps off one another as well back in the sixties as children.
7:30. Oh my! That’s a Jimmy the Greek moment.
I am proud of you for your boxing day
nice going Henry 👍👍
I very respect ur sirrr!!
Cooper is tougher than a dried-out leather boot.
Would have loved to have met Henry.
The left hook that shock the world. Exceptional fighter 🥊
Sensational
This guy would bleed on his way to the ring . Its unfortunate because he really was a good fighter and cuts in the ring hindered him alot
This guy would bleed on his way to the ring 😂😂😂 his bleedin heart.
What a gent
The Henry Cooper Arm 👊🇨🇱
Prior to frank bruno, henry was probably our most beloved boxer although bruno went one better & eventually became HW champion. R.I.P Sir Henry Cooper! 🇬🇧💥🥊
Henry Cooper is the best, he is a true fighter.
Legend 💪
A right hander that fought as a southpaw just like they did in the James Figg days
Hey Joe.Ive heard so much about ya.I always thought the name Joe Blogs was just a Metafore. Great to know you REALLY excist!
A left Hander that thought orthodox actually Henry was a real leftie he said his right was hardly used. Gerry cooney was the same..
King Henry 👊🏻
Henry was the best
Ali was so lucky the bell saved him.
So who exactly was Ali's "Kinship in Africa" quote applied to?
I've seen it applied to Ernie Shavers, George Foreman, and now this guy.
Honestly he would well him and his brother would have been the bosses off London. If he went in to crime. Henry is a gentleman end off. Hats off sir Henry.
He is not the only Brit, there is joe bugner who has gone 12 rounds 2x with ali he is a Brit too!
He was born in Hungary though
Elephants Memory ok
Bugner is hated for defeating Cooper, instead of passing the torch the British fans vilified him so it's unsurprising they never give him his flowers. Both are legends though.
Bugner took the first eight rounds of his fight with Cooper. Cooper took the last five rounds but it wasn't enough.
What an awesome wife Henry had the great woman behind the great man!
5:31 WOW !!!!
Splash it All Over - Brut 33.
Towel flicking in the changing room with Kevin Keegan...
1:38 is like a fatality from mortal combat 😳
Like he said very British,R.I.P Sir.
Nice guy still in good shape........
Top man
I am related to Henry cooper
Old school boxing is the best and old school gyms
One of the greats in my book. I couldn't help wondering after watching this I noticed he golfed left handed. So like a lot of artists musicians etc most likely ambidextrous with a slight favour on left. Yet in the ring he looks like he fights with a conventional stance; orthodox. Perhaps this accounted for his very strong left , which took down the great Ali.
Interesting that he signed the autograph left-handed. I wonder if he was a converted southpaw, or if he was orthodox from the start. Does anyone on here know? Thanks
Was left handed, but fought orthodox.
Played golf left handed
He was left-handed. He used that hand to mix up plaster.
I got a thumbs up from Henry cooper about 40 yrs ago
This is from almost 30 years ago. I wonder if he is still alive
Henry Cooper sadly passed away in 2011...
Gentleman.
A true English man
Henry Cooper was cheated twice, First by Angelo Dundee cutting Clay's glove delay, and secondly by Harry Gibbs
The gloves only took seconds to sort out and Ali was up pretty quick the delay was miniscule
@@kevinmunday5782 The smelling salts were sorted out nice and quick too though, weren’t they? Not allowed those are you? But Ali got them. Cheating.
@@georgemorley1029 Ali was really out of it. I would never count him out though(No Pun Intended) Ali beat Liston fighting blind in one round. Just don`t know what would happen. No guarantee that Cooper would win.
Dommage qu'il n'y ait pas de traduction en français ...
I was pulling for him against Ali.Ali had a lazy approach until he got clocked
Take care Hennry
The Brit who FLOORED, KOed Ali who was only saved by the bell 😂😂
Joe Bugner also fought Ali twice
The humble Cooper was so close to defeat Ali.
Henry had Ali number! If it wasn't for the cuts he was on his way to beating Ali !
I think his wife was Italian?
"Gamesmanship" doesn't quite cut the mustard, for what Angelo Dundee did.
Why ?
Could tell he was a hard man
Henry cooper is Rocky Balboa 😂😂😂
Natural lefty
