I remember skipping classes back in 1997 in a small town in Latvia to visit my classmate Mikhail. I helped him to install and play this game on his DOS system. I dont remember how far we got in, but we had very limited english and had no clue what was happening. We called it Kuberia. It was magic

i was a kid when this came out, wathced my dad play it. looking at it today, 2 things:
    - graphics: it was '94 ... quite impressive looks given the era
    - overall vibe: the game has an absolute unique vibe to it, some strange, mysterious type shit that keeps you in the magic - even if there really is none
this must have been a state of the art game when it came out

Good memories. I'm so glad someone posted this. I was so young when I played this, I think I got stuck at the password. Was it Einstein? No way I knew who he was when I was that young but this game was so cool as a kid. Just way ahead of it's time in terms of experience. A shame I couldn't go further when I was a kid, but man it was so cool to finally be able to see the rest of the game. I remember some of the deaths were crazy. In the snow world, I remember if you go the wrong path you got shot by merc's. I think in that loud area if you stay too long he dies from the sound gripping his ears. It would be AWESOME to see a bloopers real of all the alternative paths/deaths. PS I totally had the hots for Gia :)
I only have one game left to remember from my childhood. It was an NES game where I think you could learn magic. There was a well in the early part of the game that if you jumped down you couldn't get out of. Another game I was just too young at the time to understand. I'd love to find that title and play it again.

Cyberia was a quantum leap forward in computer gaming technology for its time period. This game was the reason I became a computer gamer.
For a title that's over 20+ years old, it sure looks fantastic for its age. Many games aged gracefully or miserably. But Cyberia still holds its ground for its technology, ambient sounds, dark plot, and atmospheric environment throughout the game!

Cyberia is one of the few games I was able to buy and play as a kid. The graphics and videos were amazing at the time and I was a big fan of the on-rail shooting sequences.
Unfortunately I can't say it's aged very well. The on-rail shooting sequences in the beginning are entertaining but very short. The combat while exploring the complex is irritating to say the least. The on-rail shooting inside the complex is down right maddening. You must memorize locations where the enemies will be as there are several that will be on screen for a split second before they are gone and you are dead.
If you want to give the game a shot for yourself check the links in the description.

It was a neat trick that game devs used by creating 3D renders that were too much for consumer pc's and consoles to handle and convert it to FMV and sprites. I gave the illusion that you were playing a game with (at the time) advanced 3D polygon graphics,.. but it was at the cost of gameplay as smoothly animated FMV and sprites required massive amounts of storage.

Not alot of people are aware, as the game doesn't tell you but the guy in the vid mail mentions it, but "Charlie" has a shockwave function that you use by hitting 'Enter', which destroys all nanites on screen and any that are behind you, so you can use it as an emergency when something slipped past you. You only get a split second to do it if you missed one, and it takes a small chunk of your energy gauge with each use.

This game was so underrated. Its a masterpiece. I only remember how excited i was playing it with permission of my father to use his AMD K6 computer, that had i think only 64 or 128 mb of ram. I was soo happy to play it, just before Starcraft came out.

I got the demo for this from PC Gamer then ended up buying it because I loved the flying levels so much. As annoying as this game was, I still liked it. I was never a fan of other games like this where you make one mistake and die and reload a million times until you get it perfect.

In the arctic base there's a room with like six enemies. After you kill them, if you go back into that room Zack asks, "You guys still dead?"
My 12 year old brain thought that was the funniest thing I'd ever heard

Just realized, the bit at 37:32, I think Korn sampled this sound for the song “It’s on!”. Wonder if they got it from the game or if it was a random FX sound they found from a library? Definitely pitched a bit and modulated but that’s def the same sound.
