Chasing a radio control plane takes planning, coordination, and communication for each shot, we skipped those steps and the inevitable happened. 0:00 Not the crash 1:19 The crash 1:56 Landing
Got lucky there. Seems like unintentional collisions happen, but when a group of us got into full contact combat with Assassins it turned out intentional collisions aren’t that easy.
I fly with rc planes a lot usually turbine jets . it may seem like over kill but we communicate every move it really reduces the chance of a mid air . At the same time shit happens when you have two aircraft playing together .
That's exactly it, as the description says we skipped the communication and just sent it. Paid the price which wasn't much luckily. I've been flying a long side RC planes and jets for years now and this has been the only incident, thus far....😅
@@LukeFliesGood I'm knocking on wood as I say this lol I have not had a hit but as recently as last week I about sent a DJI FPV aka the potato through a plane going like 70 at 600 ft 😂 I puckered real hard owner of the plane was laughing .
Ouch!!!! 😬😬😬😬 I chase (and fly) planes a lot… this is part of why I’m always cutting angles, but as much success as I’ve had getting great shots, there was exactly this one time I flew into a plane and made it crash (during a 3d throwdown event) 🫣🤦🏼♂️ haunts me…
This was my first incident and luckily the plane was repairable, my cousin was the pilot and we were too comfortable, didn't talk beforehand to make a plan. Instead just sent it and this happened, hopefully there won't be a second. 3D planes are definitely more challenging to chase since they can put on the brakes like this and fly so sporadically
@@LukeFliesGood totally agree… 3D is more challenging, tho I do fly 3d planes a bunch, as 3D was my original obsession starting after seeing the ‘98 TOC here in Vegas… so I tend to see just about everything coming.., and have a sense of the style of the guy I’m chasing.., except that one time tho…
No after pictures?
Sadly didn't think of that at the time

We also do ribbon combat, is certainly much harder when you're actually trying 😂

wow that was epic.
A drone flew through my Flex innovations Cessna a while back.
oopsiesssss lol
Glad it didn't hit the prop, like at Nall /w Mr. Steele
This is a video I have yet to see 🤔 quick search doesn't find anything, you got a link? 😁
@@LukeFliesGood title: "FPV Meets Giant Scale 3D Joe Nall 2016 (Directors Cut)" I was next to Travis, the pilot. Prop damaged, but everyone was cool.
Results?
Plane was fixed in a couple hours, had to repair the fuselage and horizontal stabilizer. Unfortunately I didn't take after pictures
Betting dollars to donuts the Avata is okay; maybe a broken prop or two, at absolute worst, a cracked duct.
What was the butcher's bill?
The drone was a 5" carbon frame and took no damage, the plane only had a little damage which was fixed in a couple hours with spare wood and monokote
😂 go boy
Not only did it once but went back for a couple of more goes.
Man he is good!
You were doing good until he pulled up into a hover 😮 Looks like it was just some damaged covering
The drone did take out some wood from the side of the fuselage as well as the horizontal stabilizer, he repaired both and recovered in a couple hours

@@2_hottieScotty I'm the same, love flying 3D planes and also helis, have you given 3D FPV a try?
@@LukeFliesGood not yet, but have thought about it on occasion the whole time since I started fpv
@@2_hottieScotty I started last year, it's a blast! Have a few videos on it if you look back. Definitely should at least give it a go on Sim
