Joe and Ruby's story was so heartbreaking. First love is almost always heartbreaking, but being forced to marry someone else when you love another person must be pure hell.

Watching this Netflix documentary I had NO sympathy for Mr.Wall.He gave up his two daughters and was proud to give one to that old geezer Rulon as it was an HONOR for him.Than he was pissed that he did not get his minimum three wifes (which is required for getting to heaven) He seemed more upset about that than what happened to the women.

I have a family member who was an Army recruiter in St. George. He said many younger members male and female of the FLDS would come to him. They had a difficult time because they didn't have their birth certificates.
From what we understand that happened a lot under Warren Jeffs, where more children didn't get birth certificates.

As much as I'd love to see more videos, as parents I think one time a week is plenty. Your kids are still very young and I know how much work goes into raising kids that age.

This is the first time Sam seems to be very annoyed at his upbringing and the fear it involved. Such a strong person. You are an amazing couple. Having grown up in a fear based cult myself, it's so good to see light being shed on these cults

I think a once a week video is good, but you could always throw in a bonus episode once in a while if you want. I feel like sometimes when creators dedicate themselves to producing so much content, they seem very drained after a while, and it shows in their content.

I really appreciate how you both are so matter of fact. I was raised in a home fellowship that was often accused of being a cult and listening to your stories I understand why, though I do not believe it was the case. Still, the bitterness and vindictiveness of some I grew up with leaves me wondering about their homes and what was going on with them. I'm happy to hear your straightforward assessment of things.
I can't imagine how it must be for you, Sam, since you can't ever really put this behind you because of your family who are still under WJ's spell.

What I hear is that almost everyone in the FLDS suffered multi traumas. So very sad especially for those who have taken their own lives in despair.

I’m usually not one to comment or even really subscribe to stuff online but I’ve been learning so much from you guys! I would definitely watch two videos a week. I’m a trauma therapist for children and have researched cults for a few years. I appreciate the perspective you bring Sam, it’s hard to explain, but it’s very nice to hear your experiences from childhood.
Random question, but what’s it been liking keeping up with CZcams and other social media as your channel grows? I’m always interested in what the work, life, social media balance is like and having kids! How do y’all balance it all?
M- Thank you so much! Honestly, we are just trying to figure it out as we go hahaha. We never thought it would grow as fast as it has, and we always joke that we are just along for the ride. When we first started the videos we did it in our informal Q & A format simply because neither of us knew how to edit anything and we joked that we were just keeping it "raw and real" haha. But now that so many people have shared that they like how raw and real we are, we have kept it that way, which saves us a TON of time editing. We are still trying to figure it all out, but we try really hard to set time aside each week and do "power hours" where we can focus on our YT and followers. Thank you so much for watching and being a part of this wonderful experience that we are so grateful for!
I would happily watch as many videos as you want to put out, but I have heard that it could mess up how your channel is shared on CZcams. Basically the algorithm favors people who upload with regularity so if you start uploading more frequently, then go back to once a week, it looks like you aren't being regular to the algorithm. Not sure how true that is, but it's worth exploring before you change your upload schedule.
And also I liked the way you did this reaction. I was able to sync up the episode on Netflix and watch you guys on my phone so I got your commentary real time! Can't wait for the next video and looking forward to the panel!!

Since you asked for feedback: I enjoyed this format. I have no opinion on whether one or two episodes a week would be better for your channel: I think that's a decision best made by y'all since you alone know all the time and work you need to put into each episode. If you're on the fence, I'd suggest pretending you are creating two episodes a week for a bit while actually only posting one a week: you'd see what your schedule would be like creating two episodes a week, but you'd not have to stress about meeting a two episode a week commitment, plus you'd be creating a buffer with episodes that are already completed and just ready to be uploaded for those weeks when you have a busier schedule than usual or just want a break.

One of my favorite channels (Mickey Atkins) plays translucent, non-copyrighted puppy footage over the shows she's reacting to to avoid a copyright strike! It might be worth asking her about it so the audience can at minimum hear the audio of what you're reacting to and decipher some of the visuals through the puppies if they want! Lol
I live in Stockton Missouri and there is a FLDS community outside of town with Zittings being one of the families. Was curious if they might be related. I have been listening and watching you guys and love the information you guys are giving
I just recently finished reading an article in the Guardian newspaper titled "The Mormon Polygamists who Believe Missouri is the 'Promised Land' ". According to the article no members of the Warren Jeffs group is a part of the Missouri group. The article was written in January of 2019, so of course that could have changed by now.

Did you ever hear of a kicked out man going through the courts to get custody of his kid in the flds? I'd be interested in how the church handled that.
I am interested as well. Also interested in if any of the women who left and took their children with got court order to keep the father(s) from further exposing the kids to FLDS beliefs. (As it seems Sam personally had a good relationship with his parents, not all did) I wonder how far people who left & had kids when leaving were willing to go to fight for their children to remain with them and protect them from what they left.

@@darciejones2769 Carolyn Jessop who left FLDs and has a book, went though the courts. For men I think Brandon Blackmore married to Rachel Jeff’s went though the courts as well. Ruby Jessop from the show might have gone though the courts as well.
I’m from the Canadian group and know of several men that either got kicked out or left and went thru the courts and got visitation rights for their kids. After they turned 12 some of the kids choose to leave with their dad and some choose to stay with their mom.
One of the fathers who had been kicked out prior to the Raid was able to get his children placed with him.

I’m amazed that this could be going on in 2022 in the United States. Do you guys know anything about Sam Brower ? He’s a Private investigator who has been trying to help the people in Short Creek. He may have retired by now. Thanks for all that you are doing to expose this terrible situation.

Was much as I would enjoy 2 videos a week, I hesitate to ask it of you. I have seen several people on You Tube become “burnt out” and stop enjoying what they were doing. Add to that raising your little ones and nurturing your relationship together…… personally, I would rather you take care of yourselves and keep the videos to once a week. Thanks for all you do

Dan Fischer helped many escape early on. Carolyn Jessop wrote about him in her book “Escape”. I really liked her book because it talks about what it was like before Warren. She had to go through crazy stuff in order to leave, and after she left she was horribly shunned by her own family.
Carolyn also wrote quite a bit about Caliente and the marriages

Hi! If my info is correct the instructional videos on the hair were made at the time of the raid. They were made for the info of the public. There was a website made at the time if the raid that actually sold FLDS clothing and the instructional videos were on there as well. FLDS could watch them also but they were made specifically at the time of the raid to let public learn about FLDS from FLDS at that time. They were not made or required for us to watch. I lived in Texas and I never saw them myself...

A bit off topic, but have you ever researched NDEs during your faith journey?
May I say I truly enjoy your channel. I fell in love and married a man who was brought up in a Baptist cult and his first mistake was marrying someone from “outside” the cult. So many of the cult tactics are so similar to what we experienced that my husband and I would love to discuss this with you. I can say our story ended happily (free of the cult, 4 adult children, 5 grandchildren and 33 years of marriage).
Thank you for posting this! I did watch along and that worked well for me. Maybe for next time it would be even better if you would react a little more to what’s happening in the doc and not go off in long unrelated stories. But maybe that’s just my preference.

Did it feel awkward when we were pausing to watch the show without talking? We felt awkward with the pauses but also awkward when we talked over the next part in order to keep it shorter haha. @@GrowingUpinPolygamy I have seen some reaction videos where people film themselves watching the show but will edit out the longer parts where they’re just quietly watching, and then if they want to comment/discuss a portion they pause it, quickly describe the scenario for the viewers and discuss it. That way you can still watch and react in real time and the viewers still get your immediate reactions in chronological order in the show!

Maybe we can all have a watch party sometime? Also, the house where I bought my white wedding (modest) dress from, white everywhere. I don't remember, but they probably had pictures of Christ, and the temple. That was the first I noticed that. In my room at my dad's. I had 3 5x7 pictures, one of Jesus (red robe), one of Joseph smith, and one of the DC Temple. But that's all I wanted pictures of. I didn't realize.
