Fervent messianism in the land of Israel in the first century CE is the focus of this lecture, the second in David’s series “The Messianic Idea in Jewish History.”

In the latter years of the second temple in Jerusalem, the atmosphere was rich with apocalyptic eschatology. As a result, several people emerged contending to be the messiah. In this talk, David examines the actions and impact of some of these contenders, with a particular focus on:
- Jesus,
- Bar Kokhba.
David also discusses factors contributing to this time of heightened messianic expectation and presentation, including:
- The welding of the pre-exilic ‘ideal ruler’ of Davidic descent with eschatological anticipations,
- The idea of the anointed one,
- The warrior spirit of redemption and the inspiration of the Maccabees in the past,
- The revival of Hebrew,
- The Dead Sea Scrolls,
- The promise of the prophets and the reality of Roman occupation.
David also explores two types of messianic figures presented in Jewish literature - Ben Yosef and Ben David.

I am writing to you so Jesus Christ can bless you with the Truth and the Truth shall set you free!
God Almighty made a testament/will in the OT with us that we should inherit His kingdom. So for this testament/will to be activated the testator has to die. Hebrews 9.16.
That is why God Almighty had to die on the cross (He didnt cease to exist just like we do not cease to exist when we die) but He died in the flesh so that He could spill HIS holy blood Acts 20.28 so that whoever believes in this gift of LOVE (self sacrifice John 15.13) should receive His Holy Spirit and be sealed for the kingdom (receive the inheritance)
You must believe in the LOVE (self sacrifice/death) of God in the flesh because it was the love of God that fulfilled the law (Romans 13)
So if you believe in the love (self sacrifice/death) of God in the flesh, the death of the testator, you will be born again and receive His Holy Spirit and will be no longer under the law.
Trinity and unitarianism will lead you to hell because both doctrines demand a faith, in which a separate father sends his separate son to the cross. Whoever believes in this, whoever puts their faith in this sacrifice of an other, does not believe in the selfless self sacrifice of God who came as a servant, and will therefore not receive the Spirit of God but the spirit of the selfish (satanic) anti (in stead of) Christ.
God is SPIRIT and when He came to earth, He was still in heaven at the same time John 3.13, That is how He Himself was able to go to the cross and spill His holy bloody and therefore activate the testament/will.
This is the gospel of peace which is based on the love of God. All I have told you is biblical.
@@EvilFleesBeforeMe Jesus was crucified for a moment to represent Israel (and all mankind) inheriting God’s promises to Himself. At the same time, he instituted a new covenant by which we will inherit through Him. God Almighty is above all creation. Man (the Messiah now) was promised the dominion of all creation. God has placed a hierarchy in the world where He is the supreme, and the Messiah follows from Him.
After the Atonement, He has all power over creation, as God had promised to man.
In the beginning our transgressions from Adam were against God but now our transgressions are all against the Messiah in the New Covenant which began on the Cross dying.
When the Messiah appears, all of us who have lived as human beings are in a new order in a hierarchy where the Messiah is the highest of us.
Then no one can improve their own position anymore. Now we still have the opportunity to do so.

You need an anointed Pastor filled with the Holy Spirit to deliver you from your Sins and to cast out the demons inside of you. I pray the Holy Spirit to open your eyes and circumsize your heart!!! He died for you too. He loves you and gave himself for our transgressions. When he died there was an earthquake and the 2nd temple split and his blood went into the arc of the covenant. Here are the Torah prophesies he completed by his death and this is what He remembers

@@EvilFleesBeforeMe God asked Abraham to sacrifice his son, Issac, then substituted the lamb instead. A prophetic sign that in the future God himself would provided a lamb, his son, as a sacrifice for his people on Mount Moriah ,now Jerusalem.
As someone who is not Hebrew and has evolved through different Religious beliefs and disciplines ,but has finally found my Port of Anchorage in the Noahide way of life, I am very impressed and heartened with this Program and the lectures / teaching of this so very knowledgeable and Eloquent Teacher / Rabbi.
I do not think I will ever be tired or disappointed absorbing his lectures.

There's is reason to hope even in all the darkness, isolation and panicking happening in the world. God is merciful and still in Control. My concentration is poor so I can listen for 7 to 10 minutes bits this makes getting the whole picture difficult. Please pray for everyone in the world. The Torah is the path to Hope, think of the Challenges Abraham and Moses faced but God was always available for them. Thank you a million for this teaching

@@DavidSolomononline Samuel anointed two men as king. To fulfill Israel's request came Saul ("as in others"), and by God's will, David.(With David there were a few men before he became king)
These two "kings" rule our world.
The kingdom of David waited for the end of Saul's kingdom to come into power. So is the Messiah. He will end the power of the king of this world only when power is in one "hand." Jesus started a new ERA that prepares the world for the coming of the "Messiah."
Only the kingdom of David was promised to remain in the "house of David."
The fact that the nation of Israel was preserved for ~4,000 years... is proof, to the world, and the Goiim, that Gd exists. Is that why Israel has suffered so much for so long?

i'm amazed at the 'did Jesus exist or not' drivel - David (to be consistent) should say the same about Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses and Amos....but he doesn't. they ALL existed. the Lord Jesus, being the Word of God is the cause of existence and so the 'did he/didn't he?' stuff is very ironic

Are the prophets Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel also dubious as historical figures? Interesting if they aren't but Jesus who comes much later on in history and has been mentioned outside of New Testament texts is!

As a convert to Judaism from Christianity I have been immersed in both cultural understandings of the Messiah. As a result of my life experiences and continuing Torah study and Jewish history study (thank you, David Solomon!!!) I am coming to the belief that all the escapades of humans point to what must happen inside each of us personally. We must eventually take responsibility for our humility and our confidence before the Lord our God, who has never been a human being. That is the whole point of our worship and choice to improve our life choices. I love these lectures so much.. it is impossible to express how much they enhance my prayer life. Deep gratitude to David and Marjorie, today and always!

The genealogy of Jesus is the only surviving temple period genealogy, one would think it would think this would be indispensable to Jewish history

by what clever trick do we continue to miss the elephant in any Christ bashing room: He spoke like nobody else.
What you're missing, is that the "Jesus" character didn't speak AT ALL! He didn't say ONE word that is attributed to him in the false, pagan NT, since he was already DEAD for at least 20 YEARS (some say a LOT longer!) by the time it was written - impossible! Just try to remember what YOU said yesterday, word-for-word - again, impossible! PLEASE learn from the Orthodox Rabbis, as commanded by God in Deut. 17:8-11, and PLEASE buy yourself a Hebrew Bible (says "TANACH" on the cover) so you can see for yourself what God actually said to us at Mt. Sinai.

So you are Jealous of the Jews who have a long tradition of worshiping Gd and Him Alone and teaching of Him and His Holy Torah, as they are who Gd Chose and set aside as His Light to the Nations, NOT the Heathen Nations to the Jews.
Jesus of Nazareth, born in Bethlehem, a descendant of David meets the criteria of Isaiah 53. He dies for his people and the world but not as a warrior king, at that time. At the first Pentecost after his death, resurrection, then ascension, he sent the Holy Spirit to indwell each follower. [He will pour out his Spirit on all flesh - is that written by the Prophet Joel?]. So uneducated disciples suddenly spoke and ministered in his name in such a way that impressed the Priests and Sanhedrin either in hatred or astonishment. They could not believe what Jesus' disciples were now capable of achievingand saying. Many Jewish priests believed them and joined them. You mention BCE and CE that are a watershed of time based on Jesus' life. Many Christians in the last 2,000 years have brought about phenomenal change in this world, mostly quietly, as non status people, turning the other cheek, paying back evil with good etc [as you mentioned]. Sadly some people have called themselves Christian but have not followed Jesus' lifestyle and teaching and committed evil,. bringing a bad reputation to Jesus' cause. Please know that Nazis were NOT Christian. Please look around and notice the Christians who love Jewish people and Israel and support Israel financially and have rescued Jews in the holocaust etc. In the last war when Rosh, Russia, [mentioned in Ezekiel ] moves south to conquer Israel with his cronies and looks as if they will anihilate Israel - then Jesus will show up as his true divine self, be the warrior king when he comes to rescue Israel in the Armageddon War - otherwise they would not survive. If the current invasion of Ukraine by Russia [Rosh ? - in Ezekiel] is the commencement of this last great war then very soon Jewish people will see and then know that the Messiah is Jesus. The proof of the pudding is in the eating - so I suggest anyone who needs desperate help call out in the name of Jesus, Yeshua and see what happens. Jesus prophesied that he would come again within a generation of the reconstitution, reinstatement of the nation of Israel - that was 1948 - that is in our lifetime and not many years until that generation passes away. Please be open minded and bear this in mind in the next few years.
The Moshiach of the Bible can be born anywhere, he will be a mortal man of flesh and blood who Gd will use as an instrument of His Will, as Isaiah tells he comes at the End of the Days and his teachings brings about World Peace, all your Jesus teachings brought Death and Misery to the Jews and more Pagan Idolatry to Mankind.

@Paula Wallace From your comment it is obvious that you have not read The New Testament and have no idea about Jesus/ Yeshua Hamasiach - his roots, His Jewish background, His lineage and what He said, taught and stood for. In fact Rabbinic Judaism that the Jews practice today and have been practicing since the destruction of the temple and the diaspora is as far removed from the Torah as it possibly can be. The Old Testament- The Law and The Prophets all point to (Jesus). Please at least familiarize yourself with the content of what you are against in order to make credible arguments for or against it. The people who have persecuted the Jews and antisemitism today has nothing to do with Christianity and Jesus. How could it- as the Messiah (Jesus) was from the line of David.

GOD spoke to the people through his prophets, when you see that He gave the prophets prophecies that made no sense of fulfillment until many events took place in some future time,they made no sense but that meant they would be fulfilled because GOD tells only truth. When Isaiah 9:6 GOD said go tell the people that a son would be born that would be called among many terms, Mighty God, Everlasting Father…. we’re meant to be obscured that the gentiles could be grafted into HIS Kingdom.
You forgot to talk about a very important thing. The very thing, among other things, that sets Jesus apart from all the other Messianic dilusions that you seem to love to talk about. The resurrection, the empty tomb. Yes David, he is risen, he is risen indeed!

On the way He asked his disciples, "Who do men say that I am?" They answered, "John the Baptist, Elijah, one of the prophets." But who do you say that I am?" Peter answered him, "You are the Messiah." David, are you more a Hebrew than Peter? I will believe what Peter says about who Jesus is over what you say about Jesus anytime.

I find Jewish understanding of christianity is pretty inadequate. But I've also heard some rabbis repeat what they say Christians have explained to them to be waaay off base and quite uneducated. It's weird.

I mean one does have to go by what the common teachers representing the group say. I guess. Similar I imagine to the 'so-called rabbis' he refers to. But its predicted in Amos, 8:11 ..... don't know the Hebrew spelling. Sure would be fun to sit and talk . I have really learned alot of from the rabbi and I appreciate his teaching.

Excellent continuation. Put in Put In president Putin is he a Nebuchadnezzar of this age to make us repent 2 Chronicles 7:14 and turn back to Torah and Haftorah and the Living Torah and the Bible. I was not looking for God but in shame and despair I shared my agony or sadness with a lady in a rooming house we lived in. She invited me to an Anglican Church so I needed a friend and she needed a friend she prayed for my situation and it turned out as the priest and J. Said . I found literature on my way to work it led me To Yeshua and I found literature in a mall it Led me to Torah. Please educate us about the coronation of a soon coming King 👑 of the world who was born in Bethlehem. Ruth and Bethlehem and Redemption. I want to Learn more. Shalom ,Shalom peace, Peace. Elijah the prophet will be from the line of Joseph making him messiah Ben Joseph.
Elijah was a northern kingdom prophet and the Jews look for him to arrive every Passover but don’t know which day of Passover. If Elijah is messiah Ben Joseph it tells us the exact day of Passover that Elijah will arrive. We know the Joseph line is the birthright blessing according to 1 chronicles 5:2 therefore Elijah will have the firstfriits blessing therefore Elijah arrives on firstfriits of the Passover week
I believe the United States is the end time northern kingdom of ephraim and as we see we have an ahab/Biden and jezebel/Harris in charge. Do April 17 2022 will be the shmitah year the Passover the firstfruits and if ahab and jezzebel are to oppose Elijah I don’t see Biden making it to Passover 2023 with his dimensia so Passover 2022 should be the arrival of Elijah/messiah Ben Joseph.

Everything that came after Yehoshua the teacher of what is called the Matthew gospel is of the false christ created after the gospel, after the good news preached in the gospel, that christ is false, a deception its name jesus and its cross never happened except in the man of sins lying epistles, the writings of Paul of tarsus and the rest of the ones who come in the name if jesus and not in the name of God alone as all true lost sheep will. We serve God alone not any christ!
I know God, I walk in covenant with God and I Love God. I fear God as well and that is the beginning of Love because until you fear disobeying God and causing God to look upon you in shame so you feel horrible then you can not love Him. I started this walk when I was 32, to look for God. I started to actually begin to find God when I was 39 and sealed myself to God as the gospel tells us to, those of us who listen to the gospel teacher and not the ones who came after him, know to take up the commandments of God and to seek out our roots back to Abraham and to Moses and Yehoshua and the prophets so we become firm in knowledge of what GOD ALONE asked of us. It took me several years of fighting sin and the devil by obeying God. I fought the sin out of me with God's help, by his instructions in the written word. It is a very narrow road and as the mattan/Matthew gospel says very few will find it. We have to fight Satan and the whole world that serves him in sin in order to get out and the one who will help is God alone because we can't trust anyone else. I am with God, God provides for myself and my family and yes there is absolutely evidence BUT not until you absolutely come clean, in thought, word and deed, the absolute opposite of all the lying religions. The gospel was sent down to free us from sin by sending us to our teacher and if you reject it then you are freed from God into sin perpetually and to death spiritually from God which as I can now see is absolutely hell on earth, your light you pretend to have is absolutely darkness caused by your unwillingness to even try to obey God. I speak to 99% of the population. If you can't put everyone first after God and stop yourself from all sin THEN YOUR NOT WORTHY AND YOU ARE ALREADY FINISHED BEFORE YOU EVEN STARTED.
So come out of all sun, take up the commandments and begin your battle, call to GOD ALONE, LEARN YOUR ROOTS, BE GOD'S PEOPLE. FIGHT SATAN WHO IS THE SINNERS INNER VOICE, THE CONSCIENCE THAT LEADS YOU TO HURT YOU, that's not you, it's Satan the deceiver. If you come to God and pass the trials cleansing yourself by obedience then GOD WILL BECOME YOUR CONSCIENCE AND YOU WILL LOVE GOD AND HATE SIN, SATAN WILL FLEE FROM YOU.
SO there it is.

He hasn’t read the historic records of Josephus as the crucifixion by Pontus Pilot it’s recorded. Neither has he read the Mishnah about the illegal trial of Jesus by the hypocrites of the Sanhedrin.
