    Good hiking video! I recently attempted this hike and also had to turn around at peak 2.

    OH MY WORD...talk about a triggering video hahahaha! I attempted the Ten Mile Range a few summers ago, solo! Weather in distance at Peak 1 was getting my attention...No one else up there at all. So I too bailed a that same point, thinking...well I know where Frisco is, I knew where it was in relation to the avalanche debris... except by the time I reached that little snow field, I realised I had lost my iphone somewhere between that spot and the peak. UGH. You didn't find my phone then??!! Still had Garmin InReach Mini but had no maps. Stupid stupid stupid I should have just backtracked from Peak 1 down to the TH I started. Once at tree line it was a struggle through bog and such to find old MTB trails but eventually got on a trail that ended in the town of Frisco. Obvs wasn't aware at the time that while gaia and other apps showed a dotted line across the ridge, it was all unmaintained and pretty much a dodgy scramble!

    You needed to backtrack. You risked cliffing out. You should have followed your brother all the way and not looked for an easier way around that ridge. But hindsight is always perfect for someone who is not above treeline with a thunderstorm rolling in and short of oxygen. Good camera work by the way.

      ya a lot of factors there I should have stayed high on that ridge

      @@IdRatherBeHiking like I said, it’s easy for me to say what to do when I’m here comfortable at home. And your video shared some really lovely views. Thank you for sharing!!! I just wanted to point out a couple of common mistakes that have taken lives in the past so that people will learn from this video. Colorados mountains are very beautiful and it is an amazing state, but mountains need to be treated with respect because they can be deadly. By the way, I live in western colorado and love it here. I’m in my fifties though and am probably a little too old for some of these hikes so I love the videos!!!

      @@MathFunandGamesYou're not too old! There are geezers in their late 70s on Vancouver Island here still bagging summits. Ya those mountains are different out there is Colorado and after doing Alberta this summer those ones are different too haha.

    Wow. You are one of the best with your drone footage. What a beautiful area. So glad you hike your own hike and know your capabilities. Please be careful.

    So many people cliff out and die doing what you did. You were lucky my friend. It is always tempting to take what appears to be the easy way down; however, that way leads to death frequently. And your brother needed to stay with you. More skilled, fit hikers should stay with their hiking companions. Most deaths in the mountains are caused by common mistakes like these. These are mistakes that kill people. Good video though. Please be more careful next time. I would like to see you continue to make videos.

    That was a really close call,a lot of ruff and baron terrain kinda strange place for me cause I'm so used to the forest but everywhere you look a lot of great views , as hard as it was to get to the top of the first peek you might have to film this in 10 segments, I will watch them all just take your time, I remember my close call not as high up but for me quite scary unfortunately I have no video of it and I'm not going to take the time to describe it this video is not about me

    • @IdRatherBeHiking

      I'll be back to do the entire traverse in one go. In my situation, I stepped on a rock that was embedded in the ground but right after I lifted my other foot it popped out of the ground and flipped over which is how I lost my balance. The height really doesn't matter once you are either above 10 feet for a vertical fall or maybe 50 or so feet for something sloped. Was your fall from a foot hold breaking too?

    • @danielfegley2735
      @danielfegley2735 Před rokem

      It was the result of me trying to cross over a long space made up of small loose stones and I slid down , I knew it was out of my comfort zone and I didn't start up that way , but half way up I saw a small ledge on the other side of the rocks were water sprain out and flowers bloom and I had to go to their, the real bad part of this decision was I was above the high way putting not only my self at risk but the possibility of people driving by fortunately there was little traffic and I was able to stop my self quickly by spreading my body out and spreading my arms and legs and flatten my stomach it just seems like the thing to do I'm glad it worked but the fear of it all took my strength and I laid there until it passed and then slid my self over to the ledge from there it was an easy climb up to a dirt road were I walked down that was the last rock climbing I've done there is a place near me were you can wall climb with the artificial rocks, you have to sign a membership so I never join I'm not sure how good I would be now it's been long time and I'm 60
