when I hear everyone on a weekend getting drunk and having a "Good time" I sometimes think to myself I remember those days...but then I think how crappy they are going to feel the next morning and it puts a smile on my face lol
So true!!! The feeling that I have NO HANGOVER never gets old.
I can jump out of bed in the morning 🎉
And the meaningless conversations and foolish behavior the night of the party too.. I’m so sick of parties that are just about standing around and drinking.. so stupid! A good party has activities.. music, painting, building, diy, drawing, board games.. but sitting around watching commercials (sports) and watching alcohol propaganda is the old fashion way before internet and now we know it’s a toxic and wasteful way to be! Life is short and the feeling of being drunk should be considered an illness.. it’s nearly the same a vertigo for me!
Exactly lol
Work the weekends don’t have to worry about having fun trust me it sucks
@@cpaoutdoors9926 Awesome response! All this "fun" I've had has made quite a mess Time to Clean up and go Forward. Thank you, cpa and thank you, Kevin Just the pep talk I needed Stop thinking about Not drinking and look forward at all the things you could and can do! Wow; it all seemed so impossible
I want to thank you Kevin! I did your program. I’ve been alcohol free for 1 year and 4 months. It hasn’t all been easy, but I’ve done my best to stay positive, continuing to do the work, keeping alcohol out of my mouth. I owe you a debt of gratitude! keep up the good work and thank you so much again!
Best wishes mate 1yr 2 months 👍💪🔥🙏
Good to hear from you, Noah. Glad you're doing well. It's a great journey we're on 😀🙏
14 Days Clean and Sober!♥️ Alcohol Damages Every Single Cell In The Body. Alcohol Destroys Every Single Relationship That You Have. Today I have a Choice and I Shall Not Drink 🍹 Today!! My Birthday 🎂 is Tomorrow but I’m not going to worry about it Today.🌻🌸🌷
At 10 months sober , lately have been having cravings, so thanks for your video. I needed a little boost of motivation. Went from 3,years ago drinking and weighing 274 lbs to yesterday running a high altitude 20k , 2 hours 20 minutes elevation of 6000 to 8000 feet here near Yosemite National Park. They even had beer at one of the aid stations 😳😳. But went to a barbecue last night where everyone was drinking laughing eating ect…. But I felt great ,able to get up this morning at 0630 and iam getting ready to go do a 8 mile run . Thanks again for your advice.
213 lbs today 👍
really well done kev i am sober for 3 yrs now thanks to you
Kevin thanks for spitting the 100% truth to us all. I still love watching your videos as a sober guy. 6 years of sweet sweet sobriety in part because of your videos filled with truth & facts. Thank you. You da MAN!
I concur. 230+ days, life is good.
My neighbour was hooked on heroin and said to me (who had an alcohol habit) we are always trying to catch that first time and that ship has long sailed. I couldn’t agree more.
Im struggling with alcohol,i love wine to much.i drink every night and i need to stop this
Me too. My wife was going to leave me today. This was it. I've got my last chance. I'm a cat with nine lives. If you want to change do it. I went the distance today. Now I have to rebuild myself.
Half chicken and prawns from Marks and Spencer to keep me sane; loading up on high quality protein and going to the gym.
Coming up to a year now. I'll be on holiday when my 1st anniversary comes up. The devil on my shoulder keeps telling me I will be okay to have one or two at the end of the day just while I'm away but I know if I allow myself to do it once I will make another excuse to do it again. I'm not going to do it but I wish this voice didn't keep popping up in my head. I just came back from another holiday which I managed AF and it was the most relaxing holiday ever as I wasn't hungover every day.
I was amazed and shocked when I started to count the cravings I was experiencing through the day when I first stopped. They do become fewer and fewer over time.
In case this helps someone, I changed my diet in January this year, towards a more keto/carnivore diet. Have had a lot of health improvements, but the surprise was that my taste for wine has dwindled, and for the last 3 months, the idea of it has become unpalatable and unappealing.
I've had a few, on just a handful of social occasions, but not wanted to keep going past 2 or 3, or on subsequent days. .
This has happened without 'white-knuckling' it. I have just moved on, through having great nutrition. Whatever the actual mechanism, its a great outcome. I dont need to be 'right' that this is the way. It is a way. Just sharing, in case it helps somebody, or provokes anything positive for someone.
I went carnivore in November 2023 - took until a month ago to give up alcohol completely. Next thing to go is artificial sweeteners in my drinks getting rid of one habit at a time
Very helpful video, Kevin! During the first few weeks after you quit alcohol you'll be faced with cravings, emotions and uncomfortable feelings. They come in waves and you'll think they'll never stop. There'll be times when you'll question your decision and think it would be a better option to start drinking again! The good news is that things will get better and it won't be long after you quit drinking before positive changes emerged. Keep fighting and don't give up!👋💪❤
had to take a double look....Almost 100K, appreciate your help and hard work!
I work in Retail/DSD and it baffles people when I tell them that I don't drink alcohol. I do make conversations about past experiences and "play the part" about weekends and partying from my earlier days. When they ask why I don't drink I simply say "I can't control it, so I don't do it". Kevin's original book "How to Stop Drinking Alcohol" was the game changer for me. I've done some AA meetings, but really Kevin is what started it. I'm glad to see how far he has progressed in his Videos and personality from his journey as well. Keep up the great work and Thank You, Kevin! ON-wards and Up-wards mate!
Really enjoyed this video Kevin, thank you . I’m more focused again and ready to stop putting that poison in my body . Have tried and failed many times over last 6 years or so , once even getting to 15 months sober . I’m now going to set more focus on that end goal or start living the goal right now ! Health and fitness as I approach 60 are my priorities , I’m so lucky to have both and want to continue to improve with better sleep and feeling at ease with less anxiety and overwhelm . Your walks in nature with your beautiful dogs are so inspiring , I’m also lucky to have a similar scenery around me and 4 beautiful rescue dogs who I adore and love their walks . Thank you , I’ve a few days behind me now and will pour that 3/4 bottle that’s sat in the fridge away , I’m so grateful for today and the future x
Thanks Kevin, you are still helping me. Onwards and Upwards😊
I don't know how anyone could be happy and looking forward to the day getting up at 4 a.m....I do really enjoy your videos. Thanks so much for making them!
Wow, 4 weeks sober and it never occurred to me to think about what I wanted my life to be as a non drinker. I have just been focused on getting the alcohol out of my life.
Sadly, now I feel more lost as I don’t seem to have any clue what I want to do with the rest of my life at 62.
I just knew I wasn’t happy with myself as a drinker and wanted my healthy body, skin and hair back. Guess I have some thinking to do. 🤔
Becoming sober is a huge accomplishment and provides the opportunity to figure out what you want. It'll come to you. What excited you as a kid? What interests did you have?
Thanks for the encouragement. And seriously I have no idea.. as a kid I was basically in survival mode. One thing I did like a lot was piano playing but not feasible now. As I said I guess I need to give it thought. I just know I want to be healthier, have peace in my heart and clarity of mind.
@7watertiger survival mode his home with me. I get that. This sobriety is a good time to take care of yourself, be at peace, and be healthy.
@@WookieLove1 😊👍🏼
I always enjoy these beautiful countryside hikes with the dogs. This is a lot of people's biggest hurtle for making real changes. Everyone wants instant gratification these days. You can't start at the finish line. Onwards and Upwards!
I’ve always loved your long video Kevin. Good to hear your voice. Beautiful footage as well.
Been keeping track:
'20: 154 days w/ alcohol
'21: 54 days
'22: 47 days
'23: 47 days (not planned, lol)
'24: 0 days
Not easy but working hard at it. I agree with the 'binary' decision (for me anyways). Lost 20 lbs in the last year. I run 4 days a week for 45 minutes per run. Problems are still out there: sugar, avoidance (youtube), ahnedonia (anybody got advice on that one?!). Thank you for your videos! I love those dogs!
You started me on my Path of leaving alcohol behind 5 years ago
I appreciate it.
You're videos are valuable
I remember. Well done :)
Well said, Kevin. When you walk, land on your heels and drive off of them.
Thank you you for the 3' image. Again you give me a visual metaphor
Number 4. Just like deciding to become something in your life , you decide then you hone in and practicevand study and work and focus and make mistakes and learn and get tested....then you work your way to that goal you decided to shoot for. Nothing is more opposite than being a drinker to being a petson who doesnt get drunk on alcohol. So theres alot ALOT of work. But its rewarding and everlasting . Im still young in the journey and evetyday i see things that challenge me. Things im going to shift as i go. Its a wonderful path . The relief of knowing the booze is gone is a pure pure joy. Like waking up from a nasty dream realizing....it was just a basty dream.
Bad type job . Ha. Phone won't let me edit so its just " basty" spelling . 😂
Great video Kevin. Thanks' for sharing
Excellent video mate… well done, going into my fourth year of sobriety, these videos really reminds me of those dark wasted years. Onwards Upwards
This is an amazing video. Thank you for your honest wisdom and advice.
Awesome. Thank you.
Yea, it’s the regret and what could have been that’s most painful.
Great scenery, thanks.
Thank you this has really helped me.
Thank you, Kevin!!! I so much appreciate your advice and perspective. I have been in the quitting mindset for 5 years! This video really puts things in perspective and will hopefully help me finally be able to break that constant roller coaster that you have described in this video.
Me to trying to stop it going work bad saying won't do it again but just on going it day by day
speaking facts as usual! where are you walking? looks amazing
Help me .. I admire you and believe you .. I’m struggling with this decision , I drink 12 everyday… but I don’t want to 😢
Best place to live in Spain close to lots of hiking trails ?
Good man bro ❤🙏🙏🙏👌👍
@HabitsV2, I'm curious about your sleep. You get up at 4 o'clock. When do you go to bed? I typically go to bed about 9pm and have trouble sleeping past 4, but then need a midday nap. Any tips for how to eliminate the need for a midday nap? Thanks!
Bed between 8 and 9. I have a siesta during the day if I need. There are many things that will affect your energy levels besides how long you sleep.
@@HabitsV2 Thanks! Our routines aren't that different, so I guess there really isn't anything to be concerned about. I'm 10 weeks AF now and feeling a bit better a bit more energetic every week.
Last time I watched you were in Spain! Uk now?
Andorra
6 days and 1 hour and 5 minutes since my last drink. Every alcoholic is going to relapse at least once then its the 2nd opportunity that gets you going for commitment to sobriety. This time I self detox by taking benzo myself and trust me it was not easy even with benzo at my hands but I made it through 6 days now. I crave sugar more than anything. But you know eating a cookie is better than drinking that poison just ease of the sugar as time goes as the goal is to get off the booze.
What is his location?
I don’t know if it’s just me, but it seems like the overwhelming majority of the younger generation under 30 nowadays don’t drink alcohol at all. Video games and smartphones are their dopamine rush! It’s older folks that do it!
I think alcohol can be a great thing and it can also be a very horrible thing. When I saw that All in the Family episode with the little girl’s father in a cold sweat going through alcohol withdrawal and blackmailing the Bunker’s for money to keep her, that seems like the worst case scenario.
Tell you what is worse than alcohol on your body a 12 hr rotating shift after every 2 days getting on 3rd feel like total dog shit worse than any hang over
Why always filming outside?
Jesus still saves. He can break any chain that keeps people bound to a particular addiction. Do not care what it is. Jesus sets the captive free! Next question should be how bad do you want freedom from addiction?
kevin i am dying inside and reaching 6 bottles of red wine now i need your help
a week or day ????
Thats ok u can do it, even tho I cant.
I gave up 4 days ago - after 30 years of daily and nightly drinking. You can do it, feeling great already! Get some Benzo's if you get really bad shakes and nervous fear when you first stop. I did that for first day or 2 now not taking those and feel good except for insomnia, it's 3:27am here and can't sleep but still feel better than when drinking!
Good luck and make a list of all the positives you will get from stopping.
👍
A lovely neighbourhood; where might that be?
Andorra
@@HabitsV2 Thanks for reply. I have never seen video of Andorra before. Is that the whole country? lol
Jesus saved me. I was destroying myself and I found my faith in him during my struggle. 🙏
🙏❤
Just kicked me in the nuts...is it possible to do it on your own, no one?
I am 4 days sober now, did it on my own. Just be careful of days 2 - 5 if you get really bad shakes past the 24 hour stage, I got some Valium to help stop the shakes but already doing fine! you can do it!
I’m not sure what you mean. I’m going to read this as though you are asking “Can I give up drinking on my own”. The answer is yes of course you can. The attractions of alcohol are plain: first is the euphoria you feel after the first couple; next the ease with which you can talk to people; and the great atmosphere at many pubs and bars. Then think about the downside, hangovers, drunken rows, the toll on your body and on your pocket, the troubled or broken relationships. What you do as a drinker is you accept uncritically the propaganda of the drinks companies, who promise a great deal if only you use the products of alcohol. Then you wise up and realise the promises are empty. What about the friends at the bar? My old Aunt Bess who was a hardened drinker explained to me that the people you meet at the bar are cronies not friends. Another friend Bill, whose father was a serious drinker went to the bar where his dad hung out to tell the drinking buddies that his dad had died. Not one of them showed up to the funeral. The negative aspects of alcohol are appalling once you look behind the propaganda. There is no disease or illness you could have that isn’t made worse by alcohol. Alcohol in itself is a poison that will kill you. We all have our horror stories about it. Its abuse has destroyed lives, torn apart families and caused ruin for many. Yes you can give up alcohol on your own. What I found useful were CZcams channels like this one which will keep you focused. Good luck my friend I’ve been sober for over 400 days relying on my own company oh and I’m 73 years old. If an old fool like me can do it anyone can. 😂😂😂😂😂
What about those who like to binge drink then pretend to “take a break” for 2 or 3 days just to binge drink again. Oh in between having wine or beer during the so called “break”. 77 year old man who can’t control his drinking because he’s bored and doesn’t pursue any hobbies in a serious /fun way because he’s essentially waiting for the next time to drink and has no patience and has anxiety.. both probably withdrawal symptoms. Thinks that well i enjoy this so why not.. I hate that mentality!
why would i stop? are u 5
U are prob a democrat, Ukraine flag on your 9th booster... jog on u go played...
Answer your own question when you sober up.
Well said Jason 💪
Worst part of my life being a bloody drunk, so glad i know i have a choice. Never thought i did. Good chat brother. Onwards and upwards friends 🙏🤍🔥
