Thank you so much for showing this. I am a single woman who didn’t even know a shear pin existed. Will be changing mine today..but now…need to buy a grease gun and some proper grease. Mine is an Ariens and I have a gravel drive and live on a dirt road. Good times ahead!!! 😂👍🙏
Love your videos. I agree nothing is made like the old days. I had a 1970 ariens as my first snowthro and it was unstoppable, but the engine gave of really bad fumes so i bought a new troybilt storm, now 10 years old and runs fine but i bent an auger blade last season too!

I agree with you bought an ariens 28 deluxe and had a hard time getting a shear pin back in after greasing auger shaft .My older Mtd 8 hp never failed me in the 15+ years I had it(gave it to friend) and seems just as powerful as the ariens which is quite heavy.Time will tell how good it is this is my second season using it.
Great idea, my Ariens suffered a similar fate last week, and more snow is coming tomorrow. I'll grab a cold brew and fix it before the storm!

My 'snow blower' is 52 years old. It's hard to start, doesn't have much power, and tires easily! It also doesn't do that good of a job!

hello, My augers on a commercial ariens 13 32 pro. are seized. what can i do to make them turn when there is no sheer pins.. it's a 2010. still works great.. just bought it. has a battery also.
I bought a Arien 1128 snowblower from the previous owners and it’s very well built with a Tecumseh engine. Only problem I am having is that the shear bolts are seized on the auger shaft. They are not broken, but I am trying to get it off so I can grease the auger. Any suggestions or tips?! Thanks!!! :)
That could be a tough situation. Even if you get the shear bolts out, you may not be able to move the auger because that may also be seized onto the shaft.
You can use a punch to tap the shear bolts out and see if the auger moves. If the auger is seized on the shaft, you may have to disassemble the auger assembly to free it.

I hit a bag of flyers and it popped the shaft out of the housing how do I go about getting it back in?

My augers are completely seized to the shaft both sides!
Even the Arien’s pro models are not built very well. When it works it’s awesome but needs repairs constantly. They are very simple to work on though.
Thanks for the Feedback B & L. I had an Ariens 12/36 purchased around 1995 and nothing ever went wrong with that machine, even with the auger rusted to the shaft. I had a slight oil leak from the gearbox near the end. I sold the machine because I stopped snowblowing a route but man I miss it.
