- Welcome to Venice, Italy’s, Libreria Acqua Alta, where we will immerse ourselves within a truly unique Venetian Experience! (after we have a brief walking tour over from my Venice Castello District Airbnb!)
This beautiful European Bookstore, presents us with an eclectic array of books, within the theme of Venice and beyond!
We will become guests in the story of the high water (acqua alta) of Venice, where the heroes of the Bookstore Acqua Alta, have creatively displayed books within canoes, bathtubs & gondolas in preparation for the occasional acqua alta that floods the store....and for our escape...ahhhh..... there is even a Gondola in the shop’s canal where we can flee to for the perfectly picturesque Venice photo op!
Not to be missed is the staircase of books which were destined for the recycling bin, but have been renewed and re-imagined as a living art installation staircase where we can climb upon them, as they lead us to a magnificent view! Their water marks tell such an exquisite tale of their life’s story and their strength in their survival of Libreria Acqua Alta’s past floods, which is synonymous with the strength & resilience of the Venetian people.
The Cat family of the bookshop, are the stars and heart of the store, and we can purchase calendars, art and other souveniers with their precious images on them....and hope to meet them too...keep on the lookout for them in the vlog!
So, step inside with me...and let’s feel the awe...as the books guide us through their mazelike literary walls and reveal to us an enchanting Venetian experience.

Some of those walkways would have triggered my claustrophobia, tbh. Found the video very fascinating. I kept looking for familiar titles. Were there any new books or are they all used?

That walkway, on the way from my AirBnb, was the narrowest walkway that I walked on in Venice...unbelievable right...it just all feels so amazingly unreal 😀! Oh, I am so happy that you found it fascinating! Yes, they do carry New Books too at Libreria Acqua Alta! Thank you for exploring the bookstore with me!! 📙📘
P.S. EpcotCenter1982....when I was on the water taxi boat heading to my second airbnb..right after I pass the Bookstore Gondola, on the left you can see that building, that I told you was my favorite building in Venice, that was in a scene in A Haunting In Venice!! (also another P.S....that water taxi day...I was actually supposed to be flying home...and I woke up to finding out that my second flight of the day was cancelled...and I wound up extending my stay...and my AirBnb hosts arranged for me to hop on over to another one of their amazing Venice rental homes! So it was cool that a new Venice adventure, starting with that Water Taxi...and my extra unplanned time in Venice happened because of a cancelled flight...- I already had filmed everything at the Bookstore...but more Venice adventures followed! )
