It's just crazy to me that in 1986 it was still strange for a female to be a doctor.
I had extended family with woman who were doctors. Growing up this way, I never had to think this way luckily
I don’t think it was about women doctors, I think it was more about Blanche wanting to be examined by a man.
I was born in '86, and my family doctor was a woman.

So there's a joke people might miss here. Blanche watching Another World is funny because the actress Rue McClanahan who plays Blanche also starred in Another World.

Friendship, at any age and stage, seems to be one of the repeated main themes of this show - one of the reasons why I love this show. Some of the situations they get in may seem unrealistic, but their friendship and personalities are still very relatable.

Great episode
You need to see the Sick and Tired episode. Its a double episode and actually deals with the problem of medical gas lighting. Dorothy has felt lousy with flu like symptoms for five months and every doctor she goes to tells her she's fine. There's nothing wrong with her. But she knows there is because she is just so exhausted all the time, she's had to quit her job because she's too tired to do it. Among other symptoms. She even goes to New York to see a specialist who was recommended to her and he completely dismisses her and treats her like she's crazy. It's actually quite a serious subject. Dorothy gives a little monologue at the end telling that arrogant doctor exactly what she thinks of him and it is, for lack of a better word, golden. I love it. I'd like to see your reaction to those episodes. Season 5, episodes 1,2.
