This was the weirdest filler/ spin off episode ever.

You're too young to know Marilyn Quayle. She was the wife of Dan Quayle, the Vice President of the USA at the time this aired. I had to look her up myself as I'm probably not much older than you. The joke was a dig at the Vice President. And Dorothy and Sophia most likely went to Disney World because it is in the state of Florida and they live in Florida. Disney Land is in California, across the country.

“On Golden Pond” is an old movie with Henry Fonda and Katherine Hepburn, and elderly couple who go back to their old summer vacation spot “Golden Pond” n its about family relationships with an estranged daughter n whatever so thats why Sophia referenced it. It was an award winning movie in the early 80s. Sophia or Dorothy deserved the MVP

Ahhh, that sucks that a storm kept you from going into Disneyworld! :( Did the storm ruin your whole trip? But yeah, Dorothy kind of annoyed me in this episode, thanks to how she wasted a perfectly good trip doing things that could (and should) have been done at home. Though I can understand her motives. Though I'm glad you and your mom got have a nice trip! :) And yes, Sophia's George Bush speech was hilarious. XD As for your question, in my case, it's my grandma. During my childhood, I spent a lot of days over at my grandma's house because my mom was single and working. So in some ways, my grandma was almost like a second parent to me. She's currently 85, has dementia, and is living in a (albeit nice and expensive) retirement home. While she's taken good care of, it's hard visiting her, because... sometimes it's like visiting a stranger. There are some glimpses of the person she used to be, but ultimately, I'm watching her slowly but surely "shut down." I've had several dreams about her, one where she was literally falling to pieces, and another where I was trapped in the car while she drove and crashed us. I haven't spoken to any one in my family about this, because like Dorothy (and Sophia), I'm not good at emotions.

Episodes like these are why I love the show so much. So touching, so relatable but they can make you laugh at the same time. I too am going through the same thing with my mom, and I love that the show touches on it.

I have lost both my parents, and I am still quite young. I love that Dorothy lived with her mom in later years. Most people don't even if their parents are alive. It makes me happy the Dorothy and Sophia moments.

Kirsten was by far the worst of the GG's children. She was entitled, selfish, Scheming and proud. The fact that she was already expecting a large sum BEFORE Rose died was a slap in the face, and even blaming her mother for spending the money her father left her MOTHER, was insane!!

I love how, as the series has progressed, you're picking up punchlines and recognizing the character tropes in each episode. My MVP is either Blanche during flashbacks or Sophia during the present scenes. She really does get the best dates. Blanche is such a complex character. She uses this up front hyper sexual persona to shield the fact that underneath it, she's a hopeless romantic desperately looking for something in someone that makes her feel the way she felt with the love of her life, George. As you progress in the series you gain more understanding on just how emotionally vulnerable and sensitive she is and it honestly gives her some of the best episodes in the series as a result. Blanche for MVP always.
