I kind of like DR4 Frank in a standalone way because he's this weirdo goofball, but I really think they should've just given Ty Olsson his own character because the dude in DR4 straight up isn't Frank West. Also that whole think about wanting a more mature Frank is total bullshit because Olsson is a bit younger than Tj Rotolo.
Reminder that the director of the movie went on to direct the live action Kim Possible movie.

The optimal way to adapt Dead Rising into movies is making them slapstick black comedy like the ones you usually saw starring Leslie Nielsen, but more gory.

I think these two movies are far better than this video gives it credit for. Like incredibly so. But the second movie was definitely not as good as the first but good in its own way. They did good, not amazing, but good.
I actually enjoyed Watchtower a lot. As a fan, it was a movie I could turn my brain off and enjoy for the quirky little references alone. It also served as a mini prequel to Dead Rising 3 by introducing Project Watchtower, which I thought was neat. Endgame on the other hand felt like a movie they churned out because the license was about to expire.
Just my opinion though, take it with a grain of salt.

Yes 100%. Watchtower had some interesting ideas for a very low budget Zombie film. It was wayyy better than the first Resident Evil movie as a good comparison. End Game though just felt unneeded

I loved them tbh. I expected them to be trash, but they were entertaining. Not really amazing nor bad. The first one with Rob Riggle as Frank West was hilarious.

Frank West. That's a fake, pretending to be Frank West. And I don't mean because he's an actor portraying Frank, I mean because Frank West wouldn't be caught dead saying most of the stupid things Faker Frank here is saying. He's not even a convincing faker either. He's just bad.
They definitely just said f*ck it and just went full half ass with chuck. At least they tried to make Frank’s character similar to his video game counterparts personality.
@@VintageNarwhal Well, I'll say that Rob Riggle does get SOME things about Frank West's personality down from that clip, but he doesn't really FEEL like Frank West. It just felt like an actor portraying Frank West, and not at all how Frank West would act on TV. He'd probably say some of those things like how zombies would rip and tear you apart, and ask the interviewer, "am I the only who knows about zombies around here?" Like that. And would definitely try to keep his sunglasses on the entire time. And would definitely mention covering wars, but not in a jokey way, but in a way that would make him sound "cool" in his head. But the way Rob Riggle says it just makes the entire time Frank's on screen seem like it's a bad SNL skit of Frank West on a news show. But I do at least appreciate them trying to get the look down with the jacket and shades. You can almost see how it's supposed to be Frank, but it's still not him. But it's a better portrayal of Frank than DR4 at least...but the dude playing Chance Carver or whatever his name was, would've made a WAYYY better live-action Frank West than Rob Riggle. Rob's version is just a really good Halloween costume/bad SNL parody of Dead Rising.

Fun fact, that sawblade axe thing they use in Dead Rising Endgame (the one that’s on the cover) was actually a design made by a guy on youtube who makes weapons. When the movie came out, he clarified that the filmmakers did not reach out to him, nor pay him for it, they just jacked his work and put it in their shitty movie.

They should have gotten Johnny Bananas to play Frank in these movies. It’s the single biggest wasted opportunity in existence as far as film making goes. Dude sounds, looks and even acts exactly like him. They’d be fondly remembered if he played him I bet. “It wasn’t great but the guy who played Frank was perfect” would have been the common sentiment.

Oh really? Frank West's covered wars? That's cool. I knew that because he mentions it in the first game. To the helicopter pilot in the beginning, to Brad, one of the government agents looking for Carlito Keyes, and even during his appearances in Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3, and MVCI. It's sorta his catchphrase, ya know what I'm saying?

I would want a Dead Rising movie based on the first game. It would have some things from the game, maybe a recreation of a cutscene or three. The fan favorite and memorable bosses would be there. I would also think it would be cool if T.J Rotelo played Frank West. I think Jim Carrey would be a good Kent. Who would play Carlito?
i feel a funnier way to bring that wars quote back would to be one of the characters seeing him on the tv and just being like "damn ive heard that guy covered a war before" or something dumb like that making frank himself say it in my opinion kinda ruins it cause it wont be as good as the first time you heard it or the original line from the game a small side remark like that makes it seem more of a joke then a hey guys haha remember the thing

Granted I've only played the first couple games. I highly enjoyed these movies. It went completely in a different route than the games did with some homage to the games. They probably had a small budget so I don't blame them.

Agreed with everything you said about both films, BUT I will say in Endgame's defence, you omitted an absolutely fucking AWESOME 3-minute fight scene with Chase in the infirmary room at the end of Endgame shot in what looks to be one continuous take or well stitched to look like one (it comes so late and the rest of the movie's so boring that if you fell asleep before then, I don't blame you xD) where he uses tool after tool after tool to dispatch zombies in what is legitimately a very well-choreographed and shot fight scene that almost redeems the rest of the film....... almost, but yeah otherwise they both suck, that one scene however :O
Casting Rob Riggle as Frank West was a mistake. I'd say Jesse Metcalfe comes close to portraying Frank West himself.
I agree. I like Rob Riggle as an actor, but he ain't no Frank West. I get that he's trying to talk like Frank, and act like him, but honestly, Frank West wouldn't be doing a live interview. He'd be out, looking for the next big scoop. Also, another mistake the movie made(upon the thousands and thousands of mistakes they already made), Frank's a photojournalist, not a regular journalist. Rob's portrayal of Frank makes Frank look like he's an incompetent idiot who doesn't know a thing about what he's saying, or the first thing about zombies or the Willamette Outbreak, which doesn't make any sense. Because he was there. Also, he's one of the people who helped with the creation of Zombrex, in the first place. He's also one of the people who has to take it himself, but he helped create it during the first game, near the end. And while he's covered wars, he definitely would NOT say it the way Rob Riggle did. He'd say it more confidently than that. Not like some smug ass clown. But they definitely should've had Jesse Metcalf be Frank West. He's literally a dead ringer for Frank West! He's got the same eyes, hairstyle, forehead, voice, look, jacket, everything about the dude screams out: "Frank West, Photojournalist, who's covered wars, you know?" But these 2 incompetent movies don't realize that. The "Frank West" in the first "movie", feels more like a crappy SNL skit parody of what Frank West would be like, and should be called Hank North instead.
Because, that's NOT Frank West, and speaking as a hardcore fan of Dead Rising, these movies had absolutely NO idea what to do with these characters. None. They had no idea who Frank West was, or no idea who Chuck Greene was either. The only things they knew about Frank were that he: A. Survived Willamette,
B. Is a Photojournalist
And C. Covered wars. There's slightly more to his character but I'm willing to bet that these guys didn't know a single thing about Dead Rising before they made these craptacular movies, other than Frank West's or Chuck Greene's beta designs or something.

I'm happy I'm so happy that I skip this movie because if Rob Riggs but I had a bigger role in the movie or the movie had even been faithful I would have enjoyed looking at it but from what I hear everybody says movie is trash and just avoid it and now I have to hear it is I see why video game movies will be so much better if they actually stuck to the material but you know how Hollywood is once they get their hands on something if it's good and people like it they want to try to improve and make it worse

The only thing I remember from these movies is the fact that a shit ton of weapons were stolen from youtubers. Like a big weapon they use in the movie is the sawblade battle axe, which they completely stole from ZNA Productions. Like down to the rivets
