Making The Lich King Armor for Blizzard!

- Frank Ippolito shows us his amazing Lich King armor that he made for Blizzard's Hearthstone Knights of the Frozen Throne expansion. This project allowed Frank and his team to take cosplay to a new level, combining clay sculpting, large-scale 3d printing, smoke effects, and chroming to make our jaws drop. Just look at that Frostmourne sword!

So many great cosplays over the years, but you can't trump Blizzard at their own game. Props to all the fantastic detailing you guys did, _and to Steve and his mighty, towering physique._

Thats sick. i know somebody created the actual sword too with metal i think but this is also cool especially with it not being so heavy and the smoke emitting like frost just like in game. I always thought The Lich King was the coolest looking villain id ever seen. I legit just wanted to be on his side in WoW and never leave the starting zone as a DK
That was fun to see. I like the fact that Frank is all about the Team and showed some of the process involved in bringing together something as impressive as this. I'd love to see it in an elevator, smoke and all.
That costume is awesome! Huge props (pun intended), to the crew who made that.
He's not buff enough. Looks more like an Arturito rather than an Arthas.

I wish they showed how they handled the eyes. I presume the eyes on the helm aren't aligned with the wearer's, as that seems to generally be the case with big costumes, but still, it'd be nice to see where everything is relative to Steve.

Well first of all, this armor costume is friggin unbeliavable! Incredible skills, indeed. But I would've loved if the eyes blinked every now and then, that little detail would bring it alive so much more, imo.
there was this guy at Elfia ( A Dutch cosplay con) who also had a suit like this. it was glorious.

I figured out what felt kind of off for me. The Lich King was covered by his cape a little more. It went over his upper arms and connected under the pauldrons. The costume is amazing and there's no way I can do better. It's just, it felt like something was missing and after looking at pictures I think that was it.
Wow. When seeing the hearthstone videos, I thought the eyes were just special effects done in post. Didn't know they were actually part of the costume. Very cool.

Oh my gosh. This is sooo gorgeous. I just had an idea. I would absolutely love to cosplay as the Lich King and visit kids whenever they have to go for surgeries. Just to cheer them up or help them be brave.
Only thing missing on that armor was the dragon scale chainmail on the arms but considering the amount of time they had to make it all they did real well.
2019 and F for the Crown of Lich King, Sylvannas destroyed the crown.
So cool that a small indie company like blizzard could get something as famous as tested to make a suit of armor for them.
We really need the arthas lich king back in wow these days. Pity Sylvannas decided to break the coolest thing about thelich knig in the shadowlands intro; the helmet.

Some dry ice inserts on the legs with a slow leak would be nice. Give it that look like he is frosting the ground. Would probably last like 5 mins though.

They did a great job on the armor, but the sword looks like one of those foam LARP replicas. For a nice Frostmourne, check out the one Man-At-Arms: Reforged made.
Making the mail riveted would make jt look even better. Great work guys

If they got a 7ft tall guy and made that armor a bit more bulk then they just made the perfect cosplay. this is very awesome but if you add those two things then they should instantly win blizzcon.
pretty damn amazing. It needs gilding creme in many areas on the armor and sword though to make it 100% realistic looking. the correct gilding creme can make nearly everything look better :)
