I think the anxiety map might be linked to diagnosed anxiety disorders, which explains some of the low/high ratings: more developed countries have more comprehensive mental health systems, and so are likely to report more cases of anxiety
That makes sense, when I saw Japan being low, I was like "That's cap", like, considering the work culture there, no way this isn't one of the highest
Maybe people in those countries are more open about their emotions, which I think is a good thing.
In Ireland we are being bullied by Russia who want to delete us from the world
This is true and is almost certainly a factor. But as said in the video, culture is also likely a factor. It’s interesting how much culture can change the epidemiology of psychiatric disorders.
Also something that probably plays a big role is the affluence and stability of a country. Counterintuitively in times of strife and struggle reported rates of anxiety and depression decrease.
Partly, it’s not unhealthy to be anxious when there is legitimate concerns for your safety or security. But also, these disorders are not nearly as much of a problem for people experiencing more severe stressors or crises.
I’m not saying people who are in poverty or war aren’t depressed or anxious. But it certainly seems it doesn’t show in the same way and impairs their day to day existence less than those in more comfortable situations.
Brazil: burning hot
Also brazil: this is fine
Respect to the kidnappers for letting him keep uploading again.

"There's the Dutch post from Germany"
Amazing Drew, just phenominal

😂 Deutsch is now Dutch.
Bye bye Germany
lol
Germany is integrating the Dutch army, but the Netherlands is integrating Germany

Well to be fair the word Dutch used to just mean Germanic and came from how English people couldnt pronounce Deutsch

I can't believe I am learning more geography from a kidnapped Drew than from actual geography class
I’m pretty sure I constitute at least half of America’s anxiety on that map.

What does my future hold?
And why does the dollar menu at McDonalds doesn't actually cost q dollar anymore?

3:25-4:16 Hi, Aussie Here. Let me just explain the map. Australia bought some Nuclear Submarine to defend itself in this growing age against the PRC incase of incoming conflict, 5 Eyes is a intelligence pact between The US, UK, Australia, Canada and NZ to share intelligence and combine espionage capability. Japan has been close to both 5 Eyes and Aukus due to the similar interests between the nations

The graph depicts that Western society has more anxiety because they are more generally open to talking more about mental health. In Asia, you will be scrutinized and shamed for opening your feelings (primarily by people above 50 years old).
Makes sense. Conservatives usually tell men that they must be strong and whatnot, so conservative states such as some in eastern Europe and Asia very well might discourage anxiety and depression etc.
Yeah considering the suicide rates, this is more a map of how bottled up is your anxiety.
The other reason is either people have tooo much work to care about these or they are happy with their life thus no problem.
In west people simply buy more problems for themselves
As an Indian with mental issues, I can say that coming out to the society is difficult. The majority is completely unaware about mental health problems & those who are diagnosed, face stigmatisattion from the society because people think that consulting a psychiatrist is equivalent to being certified insane & mental health problems are dismissed as attempts to attract sympathy in the face of the brutal reality of life. And now, we have a certain *cough* ruling *cough* political ideology breeding denial towards effectiveness of psychiatrist treatment & promoting pseudo-scientific claims of yoga & meditation being a cure-all for all sorts of mental health problems in the name of nationalism & promoting national pride.
Can we all just appreciate how the kidnappers let Drew upload?
When was he kidnapped
Geography now has never covered Taiwan
The post logo map made me curious, so I looked up a couple of things :
-the post horn, which you can see in most European post logos, was carried by some courriers and postmen as far back as antiquity
-the reason yellow is associated with postal services is because one of the first ones was set up by a Habsburg (yellow/black colors)
As a portuguese, I can confirm spanish cities to be loud. We can hear them talking from here
Fun fact! In the postal logo from greece there is an image of hermes who was the messenger of the gods
I find it really funny that Drew took no preparations for the kidnapping, and he knew it was coming too. Poor guy, hope he’s okay
as a portuguese person I felt very anxious watching this
Can we all just admire that totally super-accurate Sudan-South Sudan border on the anxiety map? I mean, we can clearly tell that the European who designed this map was a genius when it came to colonial history.
@@Safwaan821 lol
@@Safwaan821 Fr lol
The Euros didn't design this border. Sudan and South Sudan were one country until 2008.
@@D00MMAST3R That's not the point they were making. The border between Sudan and South Sudan isn't even close to being straight, the anxiety map just drew that part very inaccurately.

The exact time i sleep is the time this guy uploads his videos
6:51 the logo of ΕΛΤΑ from Greece is actually a reference to the ancient Greek god Ermes, the messenger god
The reason why it’s “an post” in Ireland is because “an” is “the” in Irish, and also the “a” is pronounced like the “a” in “fall”.
said like on post so ya u are right
All non-Irish should be provided with someone who remembers 3% of what they learnt in primary school when reading Irish

Jokes aside... As a colombian i'm literally surprised as how precise this travel map actually is... i definetly would think it twice before going in the red zones in Colombia, the guys who did this map, actually did a very good research
Alright here's an idea about that big sea: It might actually boost Canada's population. It's an almost entirely sheltered body of water which would have been able to sustain a whole bunch of industry, especially if it was shallower because that would mean it was warmer (than the North Pacific). Also so much of Canada's population is right near giant lakes already, so...
I’ve been following Geography Now since like Belize, man. I am not ready for it to be over. I know he has plans on how to continue, but I can’t just say goodbye to Barbie.
I’ve been watching Geography Now since DR Congo and I am looking forward to the Zimbabwe episode!
3:50 FVEY is Australia, Canada, New Zealand, United Kingdom, and United States. It's a intelligence sharing treaty according to the US DNI.
Look up maps to see what kind of visas certain people from certain countries need, to travel the world. Very telling, especially when you start to notice the countries they can travel to without a visa at all.
Have you noticed that many of the post's logos have a kind of old-style trumpet in it? I'm from Spain and I was surprised to see the same design in several countries! Sweden, Lithuania, the Czech Republic, Croatia, Austria, Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey, Ukraine, Norway, Hungary, Slovakia, Moldavia... even the horse rider in Portugal is playing one...
It's pretty funny seeing how many countries postal service icons includes a horn, including mine (Sweden)
(2:20) the very first video was Afghanistan which was on 2014-10-15, and the latest video was Ukraine which was on 2023-03-09. That has been 3067 days for 184 countries, or 3067/183 = ~16,76 days between each video. But for a more accurate number, the 10th last video was on 2022-07-06, which was 260 days ago, so average 26 days between each video. So the 11th and final video will come 286 days after Ukraine, which is 2023-12-20. Next country to go independent, which there's no video on yet, is Bougainville, but that won't happen until 2027, so no worries about that series of videos getting outdated just yet.
Many postal logos in Europe contain a trumpet. The ones you showed with trumpets are: Spain, Germany, Croatia, Slovenia, Poland, Bulgaria, Croatia, Romania etc. I'm pointing these out so you can see the different ways the trumpets are portrayed.
I think it comes from mail carriers blowing a trumpet to announce that they arrived in town.
If a nation has 0 cases of anxiety, panic attacks or anxious depressive states, it is much more likely to be due to the absence of psychologists. If you don't have psychologists to diagnose them, it turns out that your nation has no anxious.
Looking at interesting geographical maps whilst smooth jazz plays in the background is tight!
I had no idea Brazil was so anxious, but analyzing it carefully, it makes perfect sense.
(3:10) People by square mile is certainly the best unit to use in Europe, for sure, or in the world in general for that matter.
4:30 Me who had 4 hours of sleep and had to go to school:💀
I think Greece may have included hermes for their postal service since hermes is the greek god of travel and the messenger of the gods, I love Greek Mythology if you couldn’t tell
It's Hermes indeed👍
The Zimbabwe episode of Geography Now is the most anticipated CZcams video of all time. The Avengers Endgame of CZcams.

About anxiety: in many countries with least amount of reports of anxiety people don't want to admit it because of stigmatisation

For the “western sea” in Canada it was actually French explorers who were told my natives in the area of a great western sea. The French thought why would all these different tribes lie to us and assumed it was real. They also believed that the Spanish had already found it and were keeping it a secret
Yes it's an post for Ireland, it's the as Gaelige translation for the post
Living in Spain. I can confirm the postal service isn't just a logo, it's officially named Correos.

6:39 Ah yes, The "Dutch Post" being ofc the postal service in Germany.
Interesting how Portugal and Brazil have the same rate of anxiety, probably something related to genetics or cultural aspects too.
That anxiety map gave me anxiety!
In the Czech Republic we have "Turistické známky" - Hiking Stamps that we can collect in many places like castles or mountains, there are more than 2400 Czech Hiking Stamps and there are more in other countries where this trend expanded. It is a small round wooden circle with a picture of that location and text. It cost only around 1,8 $ and at least a few years ago it was popular to buy it every time you were somewhere new.
This was one of the best videos in a while

No it doesn't hold that much of population down there, that upper green part holds more than 800 million but the south part is only like 220 million
Yup ,but only according to the 2011 Census ,now it's more than that .
Edit :And for 2018 ,the estimation was 234.5 Million
6:13 "an post" is Irish for "the post"
Greece looks cool with their postal representation! 🇬🇷
Why do i love seeing maps 😭
I got no idea why we got so much anxiety in Norway, but my guess is on hustle culture and high expectations-
2:52 fun fact: at the time of the Roman Empire, a big part of the poor population of the city of Rome had sleep issues and some so severe that would even die because of it due to their crappy walls that weren't sound proof
Anyone else notice Drew doesn't even TRY to read any word that's a string of letters that would leave the average native English speaker wondering, "That's a word??"
I learned more about the world by this man than by my school

I think the anxiety maps are abt anxiety disorders, which CAN be passed down/inherited from parents

6:17 Quick tip if you want to pronounce "poste" in french : the -e is mute
(the word sort of sounds like post or most, albeit the -o is pronounced a bit differently)
The US Department of State Advisories Map is probably partially based on Crime Index maps (well at least for Europe, because it overlaps surprisingly well with it)
I doubt it. Argentina has more crimes than most of the countries surrounding it and yet it's the only green one. Spain is safer than most of eastern Europe. The countries that are in green in Africa definitely aren't green on the crime index map either (although most of Africa is blank anyway).
@@giantWario What? Since when is Spain safer? Poland, Lithuania, Romania, Estonia, Slovenia, Croatia, Czech Republic and Slovakia are lower (safer) in the crime index for 2022 than Spain. And ofc Im not counting the Balkans, because the Balkans are the Balkans. Its a different realm ^^

1:27 no, fukushima has not had any impact on the actual city, this map is either from 2011 or just wrong. the fukushima incident made actually 0 deaths and the zone was completely safe just a few weeks later the accident
In french the "e" is silent at the end of a word so " la poste " is pronounced " la post"
The post system in Spain is called Correos, which means "mail" in spanish

I am single handedly increasing the anxiety level of the Netherlands by 3%
The anxiety level is low in Hungary (and I guess in the whole balcan as well) because there's no such a thing as mental wellbeing. Only physical issues. If you ever dare to go to the doctor.
My previous doc was like when I was in an abusive workplace that made me sick like every month: "Why are you here AGAIN?" Like I was the worst person on this planet.
