Woodlawn Cemetery is a cemetery located at 19975 Woodward Avenue, opposite the Michigan State Fairgrounds, between 7 Mile Road and 8 Mile Road, in Detroit, Michigan. The cemetery was established in 1895 and immediately attracted some of the most notable names in the city. The grounds encompass 140 acres (57 ha) and were planned by civil engineer Mason L. Brown and horticulturalist Frank Eurich. At the time of the first burial in 1896, Woodlawn was outside the city limits. Eurich also developed Woodlawn Cemetery in Toledo.
Motown Records is an American record label owned by Universal Music Group. It was founded by Berry Gordy Jr. as Tamla Records on January 12, 1959, and incorporated as Motown Record Corporation on April 14, 1960. Its name, a portmanteau of motor and town, has become a nickname for Detroit, where the label was originally headquartered.

It’s is a beautiful cemetery . Rosa Parks is a cousin of mine and the crypts that stand adjacent to Parks grave is where my grandparents lay in their final resting places. Woodlawn has so many gems that rest here . The cost has gone up a lot because of the famous people that have been interred here. Thanks so much for sharing this video of my hometown and because of your footage I able to see my grand parents crypts ❤️

One thing you need to realize too is that one thing I'm realizing no matter how much money or success we get we all wind up passing and going to the same maker if you believe in Jesus Christ as your lord and savior he died on the cross for our sins so that we may be forgiven and be internity in eternity when we leave out of the body into the spirit world what hurts me the most is that you can have a hundred million plaques in the wall and do all these great things for people and so forth but the consequences Adam and Eve s i n n i n g is death something no matter how much money how many plaques you making this life for how many movies how many friends and people you know we are all bound it doesn't discriminate and color race gender learn2serve and worship Jehovah Our Father I am not perfect cuz we're born into sin and a corrupt world but if you've asked for forgiveness to the Almighty and you change your ways and thoughts and Provisions it says in the Bible that you shall be forgiven and have eternity with the Lord

Detroit has so much history. Been there. Queen of Soul ARETHA Franklin. Sisters are on the other side. Erma also signed. Carolyn also was a backup singer on some of Arethas songs and videos. She was also very beautiful. She too had a good voice. Sad she died so young. Both erma and carolyn was there to support thier sister. There was a lot of love in that family. Most those crypts are paid for in advance. I'm sure ARETHA made sure if they could not be on the same side she made sure they were close.she probally picked out her space when she did her fathers. The love and respect she had for her father, naturally she would wanted to be near him. Lot great singers out there, no way you could do it all in one day scott. There so much talent, inventors, many many more that made Motown what it was, not just the music. It looks peaceful. Lot amazing great headstones. Some unique. That's why I like going to cemeteries, no matter where I go. I like to stop, visit. Pay my respect. Even if was not born.till the late 70s or 80s many of these people you have heard of
Early am when they show the videos you.know some the best music was in the 50s, 60s 70s and 80s. Something for every body. Most songs you can find download and I go wow. Thank.you Scott. For the ones you did show. I'm binge watching. Lot my videos was either deleted, or shown as I never watched. Ok CZcams and Google are now connected. But I don't mind rewatching. I'm a night owl. Or when I have time off to watch.i watch.🙂✌👍💯💜. Take care, be safe.🙂🤗✌🦋🌠🌻🌷. Love, respect and positivity always nj.🧘‍♀️🙌❤💫🦋🌠🌻✌🖐.

Hi Scott! I just found you a bit ago and I really enjoy your videos and your touring the cemeteries, you are always very respectful...thank you for tha when I lived in Toledo Ohio I visited there and it was so peaceful and full of such talented musicians who gave us the best music ever! I'm happy they get to be remembered years later and I hope that continues forever. I love you look leaving a stone ...respect to you.🙋‍♀️😊✌💚💛💙❤

Nicely done presentation! I love watching these videos because you learn something while spending a little time. I also feel a little saddened at times to find out what happened to some people that I enjoyed while they entertained me but somehow lost track of over the years. I'm afraid that there are some pretty big shoes that will never be filled again in my lifetime.
