Cleaning under and/or behind your refrigerator is essential to keep it working properly…especially where the vents and coils are!!! You can literally extend the life of your appliances by years, simply keeping the ventilation areas clear of dust and debris.
I got the angry mama for a gift. It's called angry mama because steam comes out of her head 😤
Also the scrub daddy texture changes in hot and cold water and his smile and eyes and ridges to clean utensils.... check out BASEBOARD DADDY
Have you tried Branch Basics dishwasher tablets? My mom and I have both had really good results with them, so might be worth trying if you want a natural one that might work better than Molly's Suds. Might depend on the type of water (city vs. well), and possibly the kind of dishwasher, but if you want to try another natural one, I would highly suggest that one.
Yes and it's also a fire hazard for the dust to build up around the refrigerator coils or the motor so it's important to keep it dust free.
Try Bar Keeper’s Friend cleanser on the ceramic stovetop.
I also use it for sinks.
Lisa Anne Dupree 🙂🌻🦋
One trick I learned with laundry stains is to spray the backside of the stain first and then spray the stain itself. I dunno if this will help anyone else. I just thought i would mention it. A lot of good tips and thank you for testing these out Dawn. 😊
Loved the spin brush for car mats…….what about doing a video dedicated to all things “cars” would be great!! Car storage hacks, car cleaning products and tools, car necessities, tips for keeping car tidy. ALL WITH YOUR REAL NO NONSENSE OPINIONS….thats why we watch YOU!! 😍 🚗 ….and maybe engage Tom or one or the boys to help! We always enjoy them! 💙💙💙
Yes I would like to see this as well!
Yes please!
Does the spin brush work better than a shop vac, or small vacuum? I try not to buy a bunch of extras so I'm wondering if it's really worth it.
Bar Keepers Friend is the way to go for the glass stove top. No waiting time at all. Just make a paste and scrub it and it comes right off.
yet if it's stubborn, just add some dwell time. it cuts the scrubbing way down
Does it work well for shower glass build up?
Except barkeepers friend stinks like a sour dishcloth. Use Bon Ami instead.
When you cook on top that stuff it really makes it stick. Good work!!
Or Bon Ami
DAWN!!! I have been wanting to contact you. I have been a simple living/minimalist for 35 years. I am 68!
What is sorely needed is ideas for keeping the house clean for Seniors! We are a big group of mostly Baby Boomers❤Also,at our age we are contending with health and mobility issues that we never thought we would experience.
I am an avid watcher of you and other women into the minimalist lifestyle but many of us cannot do some of the deep cleaning or organization of changing old habits.
How refreshing it would be to see someone over 65, dealing with living alone, or having medical/handicap issues. We get so tired and so 😅easily that some of the suggestions are not available for us. We have no handy husband or even enough money to spend on a handyman to even put up a shelf. Families are often too far away, too busy, or just not able to be available.
Just a thought for you and your fellow experts to explore😊
I'm 57 and a wee bit younger than you but I've been thinking about this, too, for the longest time. I'm disabled and its so hard to clean. I try and so does my hubby but many times with being in pain, the cleaning is taking a back seat because regular cleaning tools are hard to use when mobility and pain is an issue.
I bought the best vacuum robot I could get and let it run. New furniture has to go down to the floor or it has to have high legs for the robot, nothing inbetween. I have enough dishes to fill the dishwasher slowly and I put all the pans and pots in it. In my new kitchen I have a very broad sink for the huge baking trays. The countertop is made of good plastic, easy to clean and no liquid can make stains. Since retirement I don't iron anymore. I miss silk and cashmere, but I am not willing to maintain it.
My experience also! I have always cleaned my own home. My husband was very complimentary when he came home from work , telling me he appreciated me and loved that we had a clean home. That was several years ago, he passed away 8 years ago, I still try to keep a clean home, my physical Problems make it more difficult to do all I want to do or need to do. I love watching you young ladies organize and clean , but I just have to watch and do the best I can. Did not intend this post to sound whiney or complaining , just sharing! And I’m in agreement with another post who has about my same problem, show some cleaning tips for us seniors to help us!!
Ps. I’m 86 years old, forgot to add that!
I’m 73 and dealing with arthritis, total knee replacement since Jun/2023 and other ailments that most of us Baby Boomers are facing. I also lost my husband 8 yrs. ago who used to do our handy work at home! It’s very debilitating to keep up a clean house when you’re in pain and can’t afford a cleaning person to do it for you! Even though my two children try to help but both have their own jobs and families to take care of. So Dawn it would be nice to have you or someone to coach us on how to do “minimalist cleaning” for us old gals 😊 thank you and God bless!❤
This haircut is so cute on you, Dawn!
I used that dull side for like three years before I realized why I had to scrub the stove top so much. 😆
I agree her hair cut is so nice
Yes your hair is so cute!
I hope you have Corbin on your payroll. He is such a good guy.
I love the Swedish cloth. Just throw in the washer
Dawn, I giggled when you said: "Are you the type of person who cleans under the fridge? I guess I could become one."
I'm not and I think I never will. But I enjoyed seeing you clean yours.
I just got a new fridge, but when the guys moved the old one, there were at least 80 cough drops, 7 q-tips, 2 rubber mice ,1 liquid medicine cap, and at least several dozen small paint brushes!! My cat used to play with all of these when he was younger, and then they would get "lost" under the fridge! I was VERY EMBARRASED!!!!!!!!!!
@@anthonyfalcone5605 Don't be embarrassed, I must admit I swapped my fridge only a year ago and I know I found 4 pens, balls of dust and cat toys under there too. You don't want to know what I found in the couch. I think this is just what happens, and I'm sure the fridge people that came to your house have seen much worse.
@@bumblebee_mrs Thank you for making me feel "normal" !
I use a yardstick with a cleaning cloth tied over one end to reach under the stove to sweep out dusty cereal bits, etc.
And it works overtime by itself to swat tennis balls and small toys out from under the sofa or bureau.😊
I'll bet you could use a yardstick with just a boy's crew sock on it and you'd have the same thing right?
That's what I do!
That is what I do too...works well with an old sock or microfiber rag.
Also for chasing ceiling cobwebs, I love it when the good old school tools work the best & are multi function 😊
I pull out the oven drawer and am able to wash the floor under that way. Works way better for me than the cleaning cloth over the yard stick. Obviously this won't work for people that don't have a drawer
Why can’t you just use a Pyrex measuring cup with same cleaning formula? Microwave…Works and no extra stuff.
You can! And honestly I just use a cloth and Dawn dish soap. Works fine.
I agree 100%. I microwave a mug of water for three minutes, then let it sit for 10 or 15 minutes. The steam softens the gunk. If I need a spritz of Windex (homemade) or Dawn Powerwash, they’re within reach. There is NO NEED to waste a lemon or vinegar in the water.
You can refill Dawn Powerwash bottles.
Just plain water will work.
Love Swedish dish cloths..use them, wash them and reuse them again…over and over
The razor thing got me, I've done that at work before and felt super dumb, glad I'm not the only one! Candid and honest, great content.
I'm glad that I'm not the only one, too!!! :) We'll stick together!
My solutions:
Cleaning under appliances - I use a yardstick and pull an old sock over the end
Cleaning shower/tub - I use a Dollar Tree broom and handle, has been a real back saver!
Love love love the sweetish dishcloth. Wash in clothes washer and hang dry. I change mine once per day. Last 6-8 months. For better vinegar, put orange peels in glass jar with vinegar and let sit for couple weeks/forever - just refill. Pretty smelling vinegar!
I think she's "angry" mama cos she's "steaming" mad lol
Ok, that makes more sense!! :)
Or because mom opened the microwave and her family left it dirty again. LOL
I like the Dawn powerwash when I can get it on sale and re-use the bottle using a tsp of dish soap, a drop of alcohol, and water to fill also a few drops of essential oil. . Almost just as good as the original.
May 10th is the last day.
you got it
I use Bar Keepers Friend on my glass cooktop. It works very well
I use the Vileda scrunge specifically made for ceramic glass cooktops. Magic.
To vacuum down in the dryer, use a paper towel roll taped to the vacuum. It squishes into the space well.
I tried this and it just collapsed the roll and sucked it shut. I bought a helpful attachment on Amazon that I have loved!
@@ahatch7534 which one???? :)
Great ‘real’ video Dawn. I look forward so much to your new videos.
Re that angry momma thing. I saw this for the first time about eight years ago. I hated them then and I still hate them now. How stupid to buy a single purpose product like that when a bowl of water and vinegar would do the same job. There is so much unnecessary plastic crap being manufactured on this planet and these angry mommas are for me symbolic of this.
I wonder how many angry mommas are pushed into the back of cupboards and never used. Dawn I’m glad you came to the conclusion that a coffee cup of vinegar and water would do the same job.
The Dawn powerwash is wonderful for cleaning the shower/tub. No toxic fumes
100% My son works at a job where he gets really dirty and greasy. Dawn Powerwash is the only thing that cuts it and makes cleaning much much easier
We use Dawn Powerwash for lots of things! It’s great a stain treatment for the laundry also.
Love that you are so real! Admitting that you hadn't turned the blade around while trying to clean the stove top, made me laugh! We've all done something like that. Showing your dirt under the fridge was the best. I am definitely buying that tool. I have been watching Midwest Magic Cleaning, who helps and cleans hoarder's homes. He enters some of those homes and actually has used oven cleaner not only on the stove tops but on counter tops and toilet bowls as well. He lets them sit a long time and there hasn't been damage.
I love the Swedish dish cloths. I keep them in a Dollar Tree napkin holder under the sink and get out a fresh one every morning. They're super easy to wash with the laundry, and they last at least a year.
Cleaning under and behind appliances Is actually important! It extends the life of them!
We need a Tom update
I've had those swedish dish cloths for several years now, and they're still going strong. We love them! They do look a little dingy, but they work just as well and I've washed them in the washing machine many times.
This is really helpful to know -- thank you!!!
Same here!
I got the swedish dish cloths. I was impressed with the way stains washed out just at the sink. I made chocolate ice cream which of course dropped and the chocolate came out easily. However I don't think there are as good as microfiber at cleaning countertops or stovetop. They don't wring out as dry as the microfiber. What I have enjoyed and found more useful than I thought I would, are the flannel cloths that are sold as reusable paper towels. I mainly use paper towels to drain grease so I don't use the flannels for that. But for other small odd jobs I really like them.
They're not called that here in Australia, but we have the same thing and I've used them for years. They're great!
Love these. I toss in the dishwasher and they come clean.
The Dawn spray works great as a laundry degreaser too. I love that stuff it has so many uses. I love that you do these product test because having the right tools makes the chores so much easier.
Dawn @TheMinimalMom , I saw a couple things that I wanted to comment on. The very first time I ever saw you talk about Molly Suds I was curious because I have been looking for something with out the big jugs and something more natural. I looked on Amazon at Molly suds, and was kind of appalled at the price. I looked at the ingredients and then I made my own. I used 1 1/2 cups each of baking soda and of washing soda, a 1/2 cup of Epsom salts and a 1/4 cup of sea salt and then 20 to 30 drops of essential oils (not lemon). It seems really strong when you're mixing it up because of the essential oils but you only use one tablespoon per load So it's not going to smell that strong at all on your clothes. Mine stay nice and fresh even in my closet afterwards. So essentially for about 10 to $12 worth of ingredients I have a year's worth of laundry soap. I love it and it's been working so well that I shared the recipe with my daughter and she loves it. I also shared it with several friends who also made it and liked it so well they shared it with their other friends. So I just wanted to mention it to you because it's certainly way more economical than Molly Suds. I have it labeled as Molly's Suds copycat
On another note when you were talking about your mom's glass top stove, my daughter's stove looked just like that and it had been like that for years. I sprayed it with a little bit of water and then I put baking soda on it and let it sit for just a couple minutes and then using one of those green Scotch-Brite scrubby things I got it off in minutes. And it looked like new. I watched that on somebody else's CZcams video, maybe Do It On A Dime or something, and I tried it and I was so impressed because it's so simple and everyday ingredients. Thanks so much for all you do, I enjoy all your videos.
❤THANK YOU SO MUCH for the recipe for Molly's Suds copycat!! I've been using it for a year and have def noticed an improvement in cleanliness and it's better for my daughter's eczema
I am beyond excited at the prospect of being able to get it cheaper! But how did you figure out the proportions of the ingredients??
Thank you for the recipe! I’ll give it a try.
Thank you for posting your homemade recipe. Do you have a he front load washer or top load? If it is he, do you put it in the drum itself or in the dispenser? I haven’t used powder in our he and wondering how well it dissolves since there isn’t much water.
@@rachelperkins9964 I do not have an HE washer, mine is probably older in his top load and I just start the water running and throw in the tablespoon of powder and then start loading my clothes right away. I think the key is that you don't want to use more than that tablespoon unless you're washing like a whole big load of really really dirty clothes like from a husband that works construction or something you know? I tried making something similar to this years ago and I thought there's no way one tablespoon will get everything clean so I did two and my coloreds faded a little bit. So I threw it all away. Dumb move but I learned, so now I stick to my one tablespoon for a load and it works! I hope you try it. *** I might add, I order a bottle of essential oil from Eden's Garden called "Cleaning" and I use that as my essential oil in my laundry detergent. And also, I put some in a small spray bottle with filtered water and like a teaspoon of rubbing alcohol or witch hazel for a room spray and it smells amazing.
Thanks for sharing the recipe. I have a question. You said you don't use lemon essential oil. Is there a reason not to use it, or is it just personal choice?
I use my Dyson with the long attachment to vacuum the lint trap on the dryer about once a month. Easy peasy and effective.
Ok, that's a really good idea, thank you!!!
You can also add a paper towel roll to the end of the vacuum to flatten and reach deeper or thinner areas (Cass's tip on her channel)
I used Barkeeper's friend powder. I wanted to let you know that it worked well for me.
I finally tried your shower cleaning spray mix and it worked SO well. No more endless scrubbing, loads of limescale came off after letting the mixture sit and giving it a quick wipe ! Thank you !! 😊
I’m 53 years old and I never knew you could take an oven door apart. 😂
I’ve always wanted to get in between that glass
I love my Swedish dishcloths! I got a pack from Costco about 3 months ago and we're still using the same one. It still looks good as new even after being washed at least weekly. There isn't any pilling or stains. They do get hard and shrink after washing, but once you add water they get nice and soft. I didn't know you could put them in the dishwasher. I'm going to start doing that. I really like them for wiping down counters, and my Scrub Daddy for dishes!
That is what I do, or I microwave a lemon half and it works well too.
This is super helpful to know, and I had no idea that Costco sells them, thank you!!
@@TheMinimalMom & @juliemcmahan1207 Wish I can find the Swedish dishcloths at my local Costco. I might try to get them online. I did find an 8-count box of Scrub Daddy pads there that my 16yo grandson was thrilled to get! (the kitchen is one of his chores at his house) I love them now, too!
Just use the Dyson on your floor mats. It also works great on hard floors. I never sweep anything. I use a vacuum on all flooring. ❤❤❤❤
Yes! I came here to say this. I use my Dyson cordless vacuum for all my flooring. Sooo much easier!
So funny. I was really engaged in the broom demo. I also have a Dyson and never sweep. 😂
I love my Dyson and also use it on my tile floor, works great!
Was actually the reason I bought the cordless dyson! Kitchen, laundry and 2 bathrooms. Game changer!
Same! I use my Dyson on all floor surfaces.
New Subscriber...So that's why the razor for my glass stovetop didn't work well. Did not know that I had to turn it around. Thank you Dawn! Great video!!! I love your channel!
I have used swedish dishclothes for many years and the lighter colored dishcloths do stain eventually, I soak them in a sink full of water with a laundry stain remover with borax or bleach for 30 minutes or more. These are very durable and last for months. When they are just slightly damp they work as you would use a paper towel. They don't get sour smelling like regular dishcloths
I never use bleach or chlorine in my home it's something my mom never used and I never use it either. I wash my dishcloths in the washingmachine in atleast 60°C (about 140° F) it's your Hot cycle I think. Only detergent, no softener or bleach. It destroys the cloth. The hot water combine with the just right amount of detergent makes the cloth clean and bacteria free. It will last montessori and months. Hangdry is to prefer to keep the absorption capacity.
I would suggest to air dry them, flat or hung
I wash the Swedish dishcloths every couple days in the dishwasher or use the microwave like I do with regular sponges. I’m not crazy about Molly Suds either. My cleaning lady asked for the O’ Cedar too, glad I can give you the sale. 😊
You need to use Barkeepers Friend on the stove. It works when you make a paste. I cleaned the stove top in a house I bought that was so bad I thought I’d have to replace it. It worked perfectly.
I personally love the soap pump extension. I have one that I installed when I redid my kitchen back in 2021 and game changer. I needed to decide if I wanted a pump drilled into the counter and I didn’t want to have to change out the soap all the time. Then I found out about this and WOW. I buy one really big bottle and only have to change it once per year. I liked it so much I ended up buying one as a gift for my Mom. She never used her soap dispenser because she disliked filling the soap. Protip: those extra caps they give you for all of the possible options, you can put on the plastic tube under the sink so you don’t have to store them. I love when you don’t have to store extra parts. Then when I need to change out the soap, I have everything I need in one spot (to be honest, I end up usually buying the same thing the next year so it is like 2 seconds to change out the bottle.
I’m so impressed… that you read instructions! 😂 But really, thank you for reinforcing that even with the “right” product it’s all about the motion of doing the task consistently over miracle products! ✨
I LOVE you & I really enjoyed this video! Swedish dishcloths are just weird when dry, since they are stiff. Yes, they get grubby when it is time to get rid of. I just prefer the flexible fabric of cloths. I just use cotton washcloths & cut up old towels & cut up old flannel blankets for kitchen cleaning. I use cut up tshirts for napkins. Sooo much more effective at cleaning bbq sauce from fingers & even wipe the table down afterwards!
For the stove, try Bar Keepers stovetop cleaner... our stove is MANY years old & looks nearly new... & we cook 95% of meals!
A razor is definitely the tool needed to clean the glass top stove. The thing is that you need to scrape it off before cooking on it again. The heat really cakes things on. I polish it with bar keeper that helps reduce future things from sticking.
Glad to see the oven cleaner did clean the surface a bit.
I love that you are a minimalist but also willing to have fun and trying things. The biggest part of my journey was letting go of having to keep it because i spent money on it. (Or someone else).. im more cautious about what i buy but i dont libe in fear of buying stuff
I put my fridge on rollers, it raised it high enough that i can sweep and mop under there with my microfiber sweeper, and easily pull it out to mop properly and dust behind it on the deep clean. I was greatful after we smashed a jar recently that i could 100% make sure we got all the glass up.
I love my Swedish dishcloths! I wash mine in the washing machine and that works well. I love that they are so absorbent and cushy. I used to always reach for my crocheted cotton cloths, but now I find myself reaching for these first.
I'm intrigued by the silicon broom. We have a dog and a cat and regular brooms get so gross so fast. The angry mom seems pointless. Over been doing plain water in a microwave safe bowl for years. 5 minutes, wipe the interior with paper towel or whathaveyou and it's done.
I love my broombi because I don’t have to pull all the human and dog hair off the traditional broom.
I'm thinking of trying the silicon broom, but I think sprinkling a little bit of baby powder or carpet fresh on the floor so the blade will slide easier ... sort of like the scented sawdust school janitors use on floors.
Microwave- last 35+ yrs I’ve been using drop of lemon juice in a Corelle coffee cup full of water 3 minutes on high and let sit for two minutes. Same cup as I melt butter for popcorn and bake with, so it’s triple duty kitchen gadget. Plus reminds me of my childhood!
The dryer brush does not work, but I guarantee you there is lots of lint in the bottom that is unreachable. I have taken the lint holder apart by unscrewing it from the inside (time consuming), but you would be shocked how much lint gets smashed down and is in the bottom.
I have a top lint trap, so this brush fits down it really well, I can see that it's not right for the door traps. I still take the back of my dryer apart every few months to deep clean with a vaccum. (Hey dryer designers, please make a hatch for us to quickly clean out the dryers without using a screwdriver please?)
I 've heard that a leaf blower will blow the lint outside. No mess inside.
actually, some older dryers have a panel under the dryer door that just pops open by inseerting a butter knife or screwdriver. My whirlpool is made like that and it is so handy. I wish everyone knew that they need to be cleaning out the inside of the dryer regularly to prevent fires, just as well as cleaning out the dryer hose and the vent leading out of the house. I just wish the dryer manufacturers were more concerned about safety and yes, made the dryer inside easily accessed, and also, if they could make it to where all that lint couldnt get down into all those crevices. lol
@@mieander
the leaf blower can be used to blow lint out of the dryer vent leading outside. But, I use a shop vac to clean out the inside of the dryer. I first vacuum everything accessible then use the blower port to get to any hard to access spaces, and then vacuum again. @@ETcallhome
@ETcallhome that's a good idea!
Let's talk about your cute shoes ❤❤❤😂😂😂 As far as the microwave cleaner goes all you need is a glass measuring cup or any microwaveable cup with vinegar and water in it, microwave it then wipe your microwave down. Easy and nothing new needed. ❤ well I kept watching and you said that lol😂 I'm a long time cleaning lady and Dawn or a knock off power wash (I got one at DG for $1) is essential for my business. I use it for bathtubs and showers.
❤ the tennies 👟
And if you don't like the smell of vinegar, use lemon juice and water; boil it in microwave, let it sit a few minutes, and wipe clean
She said she usually just uses a cup. She thought it might be cute like the Scrub Daddy sponge.
@@DaSexeB_a_PartOme yes I edited my comment while I was watching to reflect that she mentioned using a mug.
Yes let's talk about those shoes!
I had to come back here - I bought 3 items becuz of this very video! The broombi (I also got the handheld w/dust pan), the Swedish dish cloths and the fan duster. OMGoodness..........game changers in my house! First the broombi is the BEST broom ive ever used in my life...........I have been sweeping up so much dog hair I can't believe it. I even sweep up my rug and it's mind blowing what you can sweep off a rug with this thing. I love the clean up, and also that I can hang it on the side of my fridge.....this is soooooo much better than traditional brooms. The handheld is just as awesome, especially for clearing the countertops, then you can spray and wipe them down. Matter of fact, when I cleared my kitchen countertop I could easily see in the white dustpan what I got (I thought was spices) and what I found is dead ant bodies (they showed up one morning after having cleaned the night before) - so needless to say this helped me discover an ant problem in my kitchen! Second, the Swedish dish cloths.......AWESOME! I decided to replace all my existing dish cloths with this one pack I ordered - they work that good. Third is the fan duster........I got this because the ceilings in our bedrooms are so high, I'd have to move the beds and get on a ladder to clean the ceiling fans......well this worked perfectly and did not pull dust down on the beds!!!! Can't thank Dawn enough for her review of these items!!!
Yes!!! Been wanting to do this! Thank you!
I love my silicone broom! I do have a dog that's in the house more than she's outside, so it is fabulous for grabbing the dog hair but not sticking to it like it does the fibers of a regular broom. I almost never use my regular broom anymore. I am also a fan of the scrub mommy sponges. They have the soft side for more delicate dishes and the more abraisive side for scrubbing. Thank you Dawn for doing these videos, you've saved me money on a few products that I'd had my eyes on wondering how well they worked or didn't.
Save dawn bottle and put pink stuff in it and see how it sprays!
That's exactly what I was thinking. Use it up! 😂
Love the floor mat idea! Thank you!!
I'm with you on the OCedar spin mop/bucket- married 50 years & have never had a better product
In Canada, Vileda spin mop is the similar product. It's great.
I don’t get it. I used it one time and never used it again. It does not move well on the floor and the plastic triangle keeps rubbing against the floor because there’s not a solid mop head. (With the plastic be in the middle) I had to keep lifting it to try to get the mop under the triangle so that the triangle didn’t hit the floor. Is there a trick to this?
@@juliea.7142 That happens to me for 2 different reasons- 1) I have concrete floors in the basement and it always drags just because of the floor texture, 2) if the floor is smooth I have to make sure all the stringy bits are spread out on the floor (just give it a shake after you wring it out) and that the top of the triangle was facing away from me. I'm not sure if I just mop at a weird angle but if the flat side is facing out I seem to almost scrape the floor.
wait I'm lost wth this comment.. what does being married 50 yrs have to do with the mop?😊
I believe the top of the triangle can only go one way because of how it connects??
Angry mama is angry because steam comes out of her head, lol. Also, I don't think you added the water to the fill line. I've used angry mama for years, I enjoy that I'm not as angry as her. :)
For my glass top stove I use my bissell steam shot and razor blade. Works like magic!
Was thinking vinegar and baking soda paste under plastic wrap for dwell time...
Thank you for testing all these products!
I just happened upon your channel when I was watching my ROKU the other night. I like what you are talking about. I am a non-motivated woman when it comes to cleaning and I dread it every time I think about it. I will turn 70 in two days and cleaning just isn't my thing. I live alone with my two shedding dogs and of course the hair is always a problem but I love my dogs so I deal with the hair.
I saw the paddle fan duster mop and decided to get one from Amazon. It arrived today and I cleaned all the fans except the one in my paint room. I am very impressed with this thing!!!
I thought for sure the dust was going to rain all over me but it didn't. After cleaning two fans I took the mop outside and gave it several good shakes then cleaned the other fans. Amazing. All these years I have gotten up on a sturdy step stool and cleaned the blades with a damp cloth and I hated this chore so much. Today I didn't need the step stool because of course the mop has the pole and reaches fine. I am very happy with this cleaning tool.
I've taken your advise on using certain products too. It isn't as if I don't have any cleaning products but I was just not happy with them. I do use baking soda and vinegar often but I wanted something with more power. Today in the grocery store I purchased a bottle of foam cleaner (Lysol) for the two bathrooms I have and I'm going to see if it cleans the shower. The shower in this house is made of fiberglass I think and this particular bathroom was added to the office that was added to this house. The house was built in 1950.
The water here has rust/clay in it so it leaves a rusty looking residue on the shower stall. I live in the northern part of S.C. and there is lots of clay here.
I used the Lysol spray on my baseboards today to see how clean it would get them and they got really clean. The spray smells really nice. I know you didn't mention Lysol spray in your video but I saw it in the Food Lion and liked that it kills germs.
I don't understand how you can happily do these cleaning videos but I'm glad you do. I would rather take a beating than clean house. Lol. I keep my kitchen clean, the bathrooms clean and change my sheets, etc. but I hate to 'deep' clean, dust and vacuum. It hurts my back and makes me sweaty. I would rather be working on a painting.
Anyway, thank you for sharing your advise. It's most appreciated by me. Happy Mother's Day!!!!
Seems to me that it would be easier and more efficient to just pull the fridge away from the wall and sweep. That is what I do about twice a year
My fridge is too heavy for me to move
Live alone do not have the strength now to pull a fridge freezer out from a tight area so I have to look for ideas
@@hazelmeldrum5860 I got the thing Dawn was showing a while back and it does work well you don’t even have to get down on the floor like she did
Love this yearly video on cleaning!!!!
I really enjoy you and your decision making process!!!
There are several dollar tree items that work in place of a couple of those items. 1. They have a great rubber Broom attachment that goes on the stick they sell for multiple attachments. 2 another attachment they have is a white fuzzy attachment that cleans ceiling fans. It can also be washed. Tested both of these, and they work amazing. I paid $3.75 for all 3 pieces and I am very happy with them. We do have pets so it works on pet hair.
I love the bottle for power wash. But just refill it with 3 tbs of platinum Dawn and a tsp of rubbing alcohol and fill with warm water to the top shake to mix …. We have refilled it weekly for over a year and we use Sooo much less dishwashing liquid
I do the same thing! A real $ saver!!!!
I’m so glad you updated us on the scrub daddy holder😂I was wondering 😊
I love the Swedish dish cloths!!! I have had mine for over 7 years (that's right, literally the exact same dish cloths for 7 years) and they are still going strong! I wash mine in the washing machine and hang them to dry. I love them for wiping off counters and the table. Other dish cloths seem to smear crumbs around but the Swedish dish cloths pick stuff up amazingly and require less elbow grease! I discovered them over 20 years ago when I lived in Sweden for a year (I am Swedish, but born and raised in Canada). Everyone used them in Sweden and they worked so well. When we did a trip to Sweden 7 years ago, I told my husband we had to buy some because they were the best thing ever and I had not seen them anywhere else other than in Sweden. But the last couple of years I have seen them popping up for sale in stores here in North America, which made me so excited for other people to be able to use such a great product. Hopefully the ones sold here in North America are of the same quality as the ones I bought in Sweden. In Sweden I bought one pack from ICA (a common Swedish supermarket) and a cheaper pack from IKEA. The IKEA Swedish dish cloths are definitely cheap quality: thinner, have a lot of pilling now and have not held up like the slightly thicker ones from ICA, which have no pilling (and this is after having used them the same amount of time). In fact, I've probably used my ICA ones even more because they are simply better quality and the IKEA ones I'll use only if all the other good ones are in the wash. Lol, idk if IKEA sells Swedish dish cloths here in North America, but if they do, I would not buy them from there if I were you.
Love the family project in the kitchen. Good job
Love my broombie!!
I like tube socks over your hand to clean fans. I also use tube socks to dust furniture.
Thank you for trying these. I wanted to try both of those!
Love the car mat thingy!!❤❤❤
Yes, we're good friends...it's all right!!
Thank you for giving us tips on the toilet cleaning!!
That 1 brush and zep cleaner = homerun!!
💗💗💗
I just ordered the Folex from your link. I just got new carpet and I need something that works on hand for just in case! Thank you!
Dropps are amazing for laundry! ❤ So many good suggestions here!
Perfect timing for this video! I was just looking at the Shower Scrubber on Amazon the other day and have been trying to make up my mind. I appreciate your review.
I just bought and used the flat duster... Specifically for under my fridge and washer/dryer... Omg what came out of there.... I loved it... Easy to store
Really appreciate this review. Have been wondering about some of these products. Thanx for your research.
Love all your decluttering tips and have implemented so many of them
Thank you Dawn! Happy Raster❤
I think I'd like the new broom. I love the Swedish dishcloths. They do a great job, all purpose. Like other things, clean them in the top rack of the dishwasher...They last a long time. They don't break-down often. They don't get grubby unless you use them for really grubby stuff, just like everything else. I've been using them for years. They can be expensive or reasonable, depending. I use a soft pumice stone with a handle (made for the purpose ) to move occasional rings that form in the toilet bowl. You wet the stone in the bowl first.
Love dawn powerwash for laundry stains too. It works great there so it’s multipurpose in my house!!
I just love Corbin!!! 😅 so smart and resourceful!!
Thanks, Dawn ❤ Great video!
Dollar Tree has the silicone broom end to attach to your broom stick, that has bristles and it works well. DT also has the fluffy ceiling fan cleaner to attach to a broom stick, too.
I have both those items, as well. We have a cat and the broom is so helpful at corraling her fur lol. Wonder if this broom would work better bc it's flexible? The only trouble I have with the ceiling fan cleaner is it takes a little finagling to get the blades through.
Great video! I gambled and put car mats in the washing machine after vacuuming. Worked great. Air dry.
Oooh so into the topic of this video. Thank you so much for testing for all of us cleaning geeks!
Again great video!
New tricks every day!!
You look so good in blue, makes your eyes pop! Love your content. Happy Easter!
Dawn, thank you for sharing the cleaning products. I, too, can be influenced by some people I follow on Instagram. I am glad you tried these out so I can see how well they worked or not! I also appreciate you not editing the part when you were cleaning under the refrigerator and kept it real. ❤
Great video, Dawn!
Thank you so much for this video!!! So enjoyable to watch, super helpful, and I have to say your laugh is so cute!
I had bought one of those long thingies that you used to clean out under the refrigerator, but I had not yet used it. However, last week disaster struck when I dropped two dozen eggs onto the floor in front of the refrigerator. After cleaning up the majority of the mess using my O Cedar mop, I used that long thingy to get the rest of the stuff out from under the refrigerator. It worked really well. Had I had one, that silicone broom would probably have been the perfect tool to clean up the initial mess of eggs.
Next broken eggs you have .. grab a box of cheap salt and cover the eggs. Leave it for an hour or long as you like, then just sweep it all up. The salt absorbs the egg into hard texture that can simply be swept into a dustpan.
Thank you for the suggestion. I hope to never repeat that disaster again. Two adages I frequently repeat as I get older: “Been there done that!.”And “Too soon old too late smart.”@@briannab5296
You are spot on...I do not like that it is called angry mama either...I say no anger...just joy and smiles!!
I’m a huge fan of Dawn detergent. Great video - thank you for sharing your impression on these cleaning products!!
I loved this video. I agree most of the time the magic is in the motion not the potion but occasionally the type of cleaner really does matter like getting the ring out of the toilet. Thanks for texting these out. I learned a lot!❤
About the skinny lint brush, it really becomes useful if you remove the dryer filter assembly (takes undoing three screws normally) and use the lint brush in the larger cavity in the dryer where the filter assembly usually sits. That's because lint tends to stick on the internal metal walls and start layering. That skinny lint brush is a wonder at scraping the stuck-on lint off. Then you can use a vacuum hose attachment connected to your vacuum and suck it all up. The cavity will be much cleaner for longer term cleaning.
Plus, it is much easier to clean the filter assembly by spraying it down in the kitchen sink because it has a lot of spots where lint likes to hide. Then you can reattach it. It can take less than half an hour, but you are giving your dryer a much better deep clean.
Bonus: When you do remove the filter assembly, you see the connection wires for the sensor that sits right by the filter assembly. Lint gets stuck there easily, and then a smart dryer may send out false warnings about the heating or the lint buildup in the machine. Keeping that connection clean can save you money from unnecessary repair call outs.
I like Dawn Powerwash for smudges on my stainless steel appliances. Works better than cleaners made for stainless steel. I make refills with Dawn, rubbing alcohol and water.
And I agree on scrub daddy sponges! We have never looked back! 😊
loving your hair on this video! so cute & stylish :0)
Folex takes stains out of everything. It is not just for carpets. I love it. I just took dried blood out of white shirt and it worked perfectly. For grease stains I use D-Limonene 100% FOOD GRADE Citrus Solvent. It is sold by Amazon and dissolves all grease.
Oven cleaner is my go to... For electric tops, gas tops and glass tops. I spray it and give it a few minutes and clean in layers. So spray soak a few minutes, clean, and repeat
I feel that Dawn Power Spray works as well as oven cleaner, without the fumes. I’m so impressed with it.
@@daisybuchanan5378 🤷 I haven't had much success with it. So for me I just use over cleaner
Love the stove debacle we did the same thing to ours to clean! Love the scrub daddy, will consider the holder. I line the Clorox wand toilet bowl cleaners. Will try the molly suds for laundry. Currently using sheets because it’s so easy. Thank you for sparing me buying these things. I love your cleaning test videos.
Thank you Dawn for the great video as always. I love the Swedish dish clothes and have found them to be durable and easy to use. Mine have not pilled or torn with frequent use. I love that they don’t get as bad smelling as a traditional dish cloth. I actually bleach mine and run through the dishwasher at times as well. As a minimalist it is a game changer for me and I love the low profile and small amount of space to store them. Thank you for your wisdom and the kindness you put out in the world❤
Lol, I put one cup of water in a measuring cup, add a quarter cup of white vinegar, bring it to a rolling boil in the microwave…let stand for about five minutes….use a sponge to wipe out the inside of the microwave, then leave the door standing open for a little while to air it out. No need for any gimmicks.
I do the same thing to clean my microwave, no need to bring another gadget into my home to manage.
Sorry, Dawn, I am almost always a naysayer. They have something similar at the DT for sweeping the floors, just the bottom part and another for the fan blades.
I did get two different sets of Swedish towels, I don't like them. I got them to get on board to take responsibility on taking care of our EARTH. I rather use old socks, t-shirts, old towels and any other rags. I cut them up to the sizes needed. I do have paper towels, but I only buy a 6 pk every 18 months or so, for the bad messes or to drain oil off of fried foods.
For the dishwasher, I re-run it with only water and at that time I do the disinfect cycle. So I run it twice.
I got a similar brush at a dollar store, that you are trying in your dryer opening/ where the lint trap goes. I use it for under the fridge and stove.
Dishwashing soap is great for oil, foods, and blood stains before the washer.
Thank you for all you do. Beyond how negative I tend to be, I truly need Your videos. Thank you for all you do ❣️🤔😒🫣
Love your vids!
