It seems that particular Grandma couldn't let go of her own past traumas. In the end, it consumed her. Not saying I pity her, just disappointed in her for not letting go and catching up with the times.
Makes me glad that my grandparents (RIP to both sets) on both sides of the family had no tolerance for the rubbish that the OP's older brother and old bat of a grandmother put them through.
I think this story ended the way it did was because OP was the better man. He was willing to forgive on the condition that the offending party visibly improved, which both his parents and tax-people did.
For a change of pace, could I get a ticket to one of the RPG subreddits please? If you think some of these are juicy, then you won't go hungry, the TTRPG subreddits are a wild ride of both glory and horror.

Pretty sure if that old bat was my grandmother she would have been thrown in jail a long time ago. As for the brother of this story, I am glad the only thing my brother has ever done to make me angry was a stolen energy drink, I know for a fact that he will get married before I do because he has already been in a committed relationship for 4 years with the middle cousin of my best friend.

there's been a new update recently. in short, the brother moved out of the grandma's house and the grandma tried to un-alive herself to try and get the brother to stay. She was taken to hospital and was then put into a care home. she had a stroke in her sleep and passed away. the brother is showing genuine improvement and has apologised to OP. he also applied for therapy to try and understand himself and is now making an effort to change.
