    I apologize I did not cover the removal of the headlight switch knob & auto dim control, I mistakenly thought that black panel around the switches was separate & the knobs didn’t need to come off (been a while & I work on lots of different cars). The headlight switch knob has an internal metal clip that grips to the shaft of the switch, when the switch is fully pulled out (on position) you will be able to see a small tab, pull back on that tab with a hooked pick or small screwdriver & pull the knob off, the knob under it will just pull off now, no release on it. The auto dim switch if equipped is very similar & also has a small release tab. I may have messed up on some of the fasteners sizes as well, I believe the screws across the top are 7mm not 8mm as I said in the video. Sorry my memory fails me sometimes, I prefer doing these videos as I work on the car to avoid that.

      Exhaust Sports Auto Thanks guys! You should just buy a cheap Town Car, you can always resell it, I see some real deals on them from time to time. I have plenty more content coming, I’ve just been too busy filming to edit any is my issue lol!

    Burger job on this video I have the 93 Lincoln Town Car is it very difficult to access that computer from the dashboard?

    • @CarswithNash
      @CarswithNash  Před 5 lety +1

      MORNING GARDENER'S SHOW. I believe you’d access that from under your hood, should be on the driver’s side of the firewall I believe. Sorry I’m so delayed replying.

    My 1992 sig series dash lights aren't coming on. Just got it from a guy who said they fried. He could be hiding something but how can I fix this?
    Thanks. It runs great 107k miles apparently

    Thank you so much for this. My problem is if the heat and air supposed to light up it doesn't also the lighting for the gear shift does not light up. another problem I have is it doesn't seem like the mirrors work the dome lights don't work if you open the doors or if you turn the knob. But if the car is turned on you can turn on the front dome lights.

      Driveway DIYer Thanks! The trim on this isn’t too bad, but yes some cars are stressful to remove plastic parts on.

    Have you done body work to either one of them

    • @CarswithNash
      @CarswithNash  Před rokem +1

      I sold the white one but to a friend so it is still around. The other one is sitting in my back storage building waiting for me to finish up the engine swap, then I plan to start bodywork on it.

      @kibblesanbites6972 Před rokem +1

      I would love to see a video of the body work someday but for right now are you going with a more modern engine

    • @CarswithNash
      @CarswithNash  Před rokem

      @@kibblesanbites6972 I have actually already swapped in the engine, it’s a 351W and a C6, I just have to do some plumbing and wiring and it’ll be ready for the road. I’ve just been too busy with other projects, I’m currently doing a custom differential swap on my 302 powered ‘89 Mercedes.

    • @kibblesanbites6972
      @kibblesanbites6972 Před rokem +1

      Nice, was wondering before you did the engine swap did you have differential problems for the 94

    • @CarswithNash
      @CarswithNash  Před rokem +1

      @@kibblesanbites6972 Actually I did yes, I completely rebuilt it with new axles, bearings and a track lock centre section from a Mustang about a year before the 4.6 failed, it has a 3.08 ratio so it should go pretty good with the 351W.

    Great video. Very informative. I know it’s a long shot, I have a 91 air not blowing hard through vents. Can feel at floor and defrost. Just wondering if

    Hey Matt good video. A question: is it possible to remove my digital heater control unit and replace it with the analogue one? I have a 94.

    • @CarswithNash
      @CarswithNash  Před 5 lety

      Christopher David I don’t think it would swap directly in, I believe the control inputs switched from vacuum to electric at the same time as the head unit changed. I’m not that knowledgeable on either system as I’ve yet to encounter any heater issues with one of these cars. Sorry wish I could be of more help, I understand how annoying these broken controls can be.

    • @christopherdavid1561
      @christopherdavid1561 Před 5 lety

      It hasn’t broken yet, but I’m waiting for it! I would really like to replace all of the instrumentation with analog. It could be worse...remember those rivieras and reattas with the touch TV screen that controlled everything in the car? Oof!

    Do I have to do all that just to remove the top part of the dashboard where the defrost grill is..? I know there’s a lot of nuts and bolts needing to be unscrewed but the plan I had if I have to do all this I’m just gonna scrap it.. so if you could let me know before I start it I’d appreciate it...

    • @CarswithNash
      @CarswithNash  Před 2 lety

      ‘89 Econoline van, I think it might be the same or a darn close to those trucks though. That is what my swap engine is out of and the gauges seem like they’ll work. I really need to get back on this project, it doesn’t need much to complete it.

  • @MrCrijns
    @MrCrijns Před 5 lety +1

    What about the light switch / knob

    • @CarswithNash
      @CarswithNash  Před 5 lety +1

      Thunder Ranch That has an internal clip that has a little tab hanging out (the clip is metal), you can see it when the knob is pulled fully out, you use a hooked pick or pocket screwdriver to pull back on the tab & the knob should release & pull off. The auto dim switch if equipped has a similar setup. Very sorry that wasn’t covered in the video, I mistakenly thought that black panel around the switches was separate & the knobs didn’t need to come off (been a while & I work on lots of different cars). Thanks for pointing that out so I can at least pin a comment to correct it.

    hey.. I remove the dash face to fix the eatc I repaired the eatc and now the car will not start it will crank it will not start what did I need to plug back in there's no vacuum so I cannot check the eatc wrenchman55 at yahoo.com

    • @CarswithNash
      @CarswithNash  Před 5 lety

      uawsux Sorry, I’m not sure what that would be, likely something in the steering column area. On newer cars a symptom like that would often be cause by the security system, I don’t think a Lincoln of this era has anything like that though.

    • @CarswithNash
      @CarswithNash  Před 5 lety

      uawsux I’ve been looking into this a bit for you... Check the “powertrain control” fuse in the under hood fuse box, be sure it’s not blown & plug it in & out a few times to clean up the contacts. It could also be something unrelated to the work you did like a bad crank sensor.
