  • The JBL Partybox 1000 is an epic speaker, alongside its siblings the Partybox 100 and 300 it's an amazing lineup of sound systems. Trev takes a full look at the 1000 and even goes to new lengths - just for you.

    We had a 1st gen Echo in our master bathroom for listening to music in the morning czcams.com/users/postUgkxABghAEkaIDGZfHRBH3D3rBrlraNmnC71 and while in the shower. I didn't realize how tinny and awful the sound output on the original Echo was until we replaced it with the Studio. It was a sonic upgrade far beyond what I was expecting. Just wow. I love it because it's like having speakers IN the shower. My friend likes it because the music is so loud that she can no longer hear me singing. So that's a win-win.

    I just did a little research for everybody as I was actually curious myself. Pertaining what the actual wattage is on these party boxes made by JBL. Amazingly enough even on the website they are stating the peak wattage not the RMS wattage which is extremely unusual for JBL. I suppose the reasoning for this it's not professional DJ equipment it's just something to play around with I suppose however it's a lot of money and it should be stated. So to answer my question and in case anybody else is interested I was able to find out by contacting JBL themselves and speaking to the technical department. The actual RMS wattage of the JBL 300 partybox is 100 Watts RMS. That would mean that it's actually 1/3 of what they are advertising or misrepresenting. The partybox 1000 is rated at 1100 Watts Peak power however the actual wattage it is approximately 330 Watts RMS. They do not state the Distortion rate or the efficiency of the unit so it appears that JBL is definitely slipping when it comes to this line of product. I assume they know they're dealing with wannabe DJs will people that are throwing parties in their backyard and not professional DJs that throw parties for a living. So there you have it folks the actual wattage rating of these party speakers is one third of their actual advertised raining. I hope this is helpful for techno-geeks like myself as I like to know the actual ratings not something that is pulled out of somebody's bum. The same thing goes if anybody out there was going to buy a car amplifier. Those companies on notorious for putting ridiculous wattage ratings on the box and even in the instruction manuals. Years ago when one was buying a piece of stereo equipment the rating of the wattage was always RMS which is basically the continuous output power with limited distortion. When somebody is giving you a peek rating it's meaningless Peak is basically saying add a brief second at a certain sound this is the maximum that they were able to get out of this unit. It doesn't State how much Distortion it will produce or at what tone does it make that rating so pay no mind to those Peak or PMPO. Wattage claims. If possible the best thing to do is use your ear unless you're purchasing it on the internet in which case you're buying something blind. Good luck, God bless, hopefully somebody learn something from my research.🇺🇸🎶👁

      Yea, party box 100 is 80w rms and 300 is 120w rms, still alot of power, but these are more consumer, not professional.

    • @Mr.Robert1
      @Mr.Robert1 Před 3 lety +4

      A company that's been around like JBL is known for professional quality Equipment. I'm very disappointed in what they did I wouldn't buy this garbage anyway I'm just upset at their rating. Just goes to show it's all about the money they don't care about their reputation anymore apparently. When I used to go speaker shopping and I saw the name JBL on a speaker I knew I was getting something that was quality. Unfortunately now I have to double-check even JBL. I am also aware that they have a consumer line and a professional line. This is obviously there nonsense line something new.

      This is the information I was looking for. The key word for wattage fraud is MAX. See that word in a speaker's description and you're guaranteed to at least cut the wattage in half. 1/3rd is significant, especially with a brand like JBL. Thank you for digging this info up for all of us.

    About 20 minutes ago this model fell off a truck traveling about 45 miles per hour while I was walking home from the nearby store the truck kept going so I figured it was trash and removed it from the street. I realized when lifting it and seeing the JBL sign that the plastic bag over it probably meant it was on to protect it from rain. Rolled it home at approximately 1 in the morning and plugged it in, seems to be fine and I'll play with it later today as everyone is sleeping. Pretty impressed with it taking that fall and sliding about 80 feet and rolling over several times.

    For anyone who wants to dj with this with a controller that doesn't have bluetoooth, you'll need to use the 1/4" guitar input. Otherwise when you use the RCA inputs there is a delay from the on-board processor that makes beatmixing awful. I don't know for sure but I think the guitar input bypasses the processor and therfore no delay.

      As far as the price is concerned I'm currently residing in the United States. However when I was doing my research on the actual wattage of these units I found many locations listing the price. The price here in the states for the JBL 1000 partybox was .....
      $1,199.00 this price was through reputable retail locations including internet shopping. Not refurbished and not shops that quote one price and then try to switch you to a different brand. Which is known as bait and switch. I would personally never spend $1,200 on a unit like this. There are many other options in that price range and less. There are two reasons for this price. The first one is you are paying for the name JBL obviously. Secondly because everything is in one box it makes it convenient if somebody wants to take it on the go. In dealing with a situation where it's going to be stationary then it's money out the window.🇺🇸🏁🎶

      @@Cotycjc86I'm sure it sounds nice for a Bluetooth speaker, I run a jbl extreme 2 and love the versatility. I'm just annoyed they try and give you a "1100watt" power rating when it's not. I have always been a sound enthusiast and at home I have a pair of 600wrms RCF 15inch speakers driven by a 2x600w(8ohm) yamaha amplifier. ( which weighs around 40kg just for the amplifier) I can't actually turn it up to full volume (140db) because the neighbors would call the police immediately. (On the back it says 240/110v 1250w 5.1a/10.2a) To me that's a proper power rating.

    Definitely a lot of money wasted on lighting, sound effects things that are totally unnecessary when it comes to good sound and value. As others were stating in their comments remove all the nonsense drop the price and now we're talkin. I don't know what JBL was thinking when they came out with these speakers. JBL was known for professional good sounding audio equipment. Not for a light show or ridiculous DJ sounds.
