People need to understand that its possible to do it without student loans, and one way is getting all your basics done at a community College thats in your area. My locals community Colleges credit price for living in the area is only $52 a credit! While the university in my area is $209 a credit! The one credit at my university could pay for a whole class at my community college!

Luckily for me, I still got the "quintessential" college experience because I completed my associates in high school. I recommend this path to anyone young enough that has that option available to them. $79 a credit at my local community college during high school sure was better than the $1,000+ per credit that I'd have to pay at my university.😭

Girl I just have to applaud you for your determination to go to college while working to pay for it! it’s comforting to know for people like me, I always make myself feel miserable and cry because I’m working my ass off just to pay for college meanwhile some others have it easy and get full ride scholarships. I just get really sad because I feel like a disappointment to my parents because I couldn’t achieve a scholarship and instead paying for it all. I’ve been able to pay off every semester when payments due and no debt rn, I hope it’s worth it in the end.
Update! I finally got a books and tuition scholarship at my college in exchange for me tutoring 15 hrs a week, I’m so happy, the amount of times I would cry every time I saw my school bill 😭I’m just so relieved that now I can save more money. Good luck to everyone.

You are a hustler and you grind. You will do well in life. Paying for college expenses is a challenge, but with creativity, discipline, and a solid work ethic, there are many ways to minimize how much debt you graduate with. People like you won't graduate with "crushing student debt." I don't see you as privileged. If you were privileged, you wouldn't need to hustle and grind. You have a good head on your shoulders and any potential employer would do well to hire you. Best of luck to you!

    1) snoopy is awesome 2) I am so glad that I didn't stay at that one college I went after being bullied because I wouldve been 200,000 dollars in debt 3) financial aid is such a bitch when it comes to having a developmental disability ( it has taken me 8 years to get my bachelors and I will be graduating in May), but once you get to the age of 22 universities and colleges ( and even VESID - new york disability services) cut off your funding in so many ways. Because of my developmental disability it has taken me longer and because I didn't have the traditional high school experience no one talked to me about my future, but i had to go to college because there was no job opportunity where i lived. Luckily i just got a job and I am only 9,000 dollars in debt, but the system is askew for sure.

Most of the clothes on those rack are under 10.00 a piece or if you can shop in juniors or juniors plus clearance those are even cheaper and then if you ruin your clothes you will not be as upset because you didn’t spend a lot of your hard earned money on it (not that you should just not care for you clothes just the same)

No Pell grant or seo grant?, in my state the state universities recently became tuition free for those who are residents of the state at a certain income level, and my husband and I both work so I most likely will go to the state universities and I am blessed that that has happened along with inheriting a good amount of money from my grandmother, I am planning on working and pursuing a trade of some sort like maybe cosmetology or becoming a CNA or a trade through community college first before going to a 4 year school this way I dont need to use financial aid and if anything were to happen then I can have something to fall back on.

I mean we have other expenses too, like food, maintenance of your car, medical bills, etc.

yes because I was in high school so I wasn't going anywhere lol. only to work which was technically within walking distance. and car insurance was $80 a month, gas was virtually non-existent (for me), and I worked the max I could each week (waking up at 4:00am to go in before school on some days and working until 11:00pm on others) I did what I had to do. it is manageable. and especially now some of these places are paying MUCH higher than I was paid 6-7 years ago!

essentially yes because you don't have to pay for housing on campus, still have rent, but that's usually cheaper, and the same with the meal plan, groceries are usually cheaper.
