    I purchased a small 89 park model with T111 siding and no skirting…I happened onto a home owner that was installing a 4 foot picket fence. There were landscape timbers all over this place when I bought it. Drilled the timbers and anchored with a good amount of rebar, since I’m on sand. Attached a 2 x 2 onto the timber at the appropriate perpendicular intersection so when the pickets were attached to the T111 siding they were also attached to the timbers.. it’s been going on three years now they still look great. I’d like yourself I added a one by four painted trim piece to top them and I took the time to 45 the top edge to shed water. Minimal airflow. I used powder coated mesh gutter covers and trimmed off one side and attached these to the back of a cut out length of picket to allow for additional airflow.

    Thinking ahead on the crawl space entry: A hidden door with a secure lock would make easy access and a place to store garden tools & outdoor furniture. Even with the vented skirting panels, it would be more protection than leaving belongings out in the winter elements. So much room under there!

      David, yes it is quite roomy under there. Although the deck is not weatherproof right now due to the deck planking, it will be more so once the roof goes on. It would be a good place to store something like a kayak. When I have a good sized opening with good access to the crawl space like here I usually put a panel on hinges for access. Definitely with a lock. In our climate the vented panels help to keep it drier under there, especially in the winter, due to the circulation. Thanks for commenting. 🙂

    Your just so neat when you work. you do not wait til the end of your project to clean up, you clean up as you go and you make piles of things on the side out of the way. your able to walk around the entire building without there being garbage everywhere. This young guy in his 20's who is a plumber came to my house to change the kitchen faucet. He finished the task and left a entire mess for me to clean up. He just walked right out and never came back. There was a whole mess in the kitchen I was so mad and upset. Whoever is teaching these young people are not dong a very good job.

      Seasons and lessons in life, my projects don't always look so clean either. 😉 I do try to stay on top of things, though. I like to have as small of impact as possible on my neighbors when I do these projects, and it is no fun to have a messy jobsite next door. I dislike it very much when people that I hire to work for me leave behind a mess. I think it is very un-professional to not clean up after oneself. Thanks for watching and commenting. 🙂

    You can use vinyl siding corner molding on the corners.
    You do really nice work, I can tell you are not working against the clock which makes for a quality job. Thanks for sharing

      Antonio, the best solution is to keep the weed whacker away from the skirting. I agree. Thanks for watching and commenting. 🙂

    Lots of good information!! Thank you for this!! I'll be replacing the skirting on my double wide next summer and I've got some challenges to face. The previous owner laid about 10" wide by 6" deep of concrete underneath the skirting all the way around the trailer and placed a 2x2 on top of the concrete to attach the skirting. I like the concrete, keeps the animals from digging underneath the skirting, but I'm going to have to drill holes to anchor the siding to the concrete. Not looking forward to it, but I think that's the best way... Let me know if you have any ideas on how I should go about it.

    Do you feel mulch is far better than rocks around the skirting...My guess is it would be due to your gravel behind the skirting? Your ideas are appreciated! Thanks so much for your videos!

    Looks great Ken , I really liked the saw table idea but I was wondering if you could cut metal roofing panels on the table if you reverse the saw blade also ?

    • @BCRenovationMagazine
      @BCRenovationMagazine  Před 2 lety

      Hi, Mark. Thanks. 🙂 The table works well to hold those floppy sheets still while cutting them. I think you could use a similar setup to cut roof panels. The backwards saw blade trick would cut the metal panels if they are aluminum. If they are steel of some kind then I think you would have to use a fiber disc blade in the saw, but be careful of the sparks that would happen. You wouldn't want to cause a fire.

    Does the top of every groove on the skirting behind the trim board offer a point of entry point for insects into the crawl space?
