  • This video describes the production of my version of a Segmented Wood Pysanky Egg that symbolizes struggles of the Ukrainian people in this conflict. I produced 5 separate and unique versions of this Pysanky Egg which I have entitled “The Russian Stranglehold on Ukraine”.
This video is a follow-up to my previous video on the production of some Segmented Wood Pysanky Eggs. I have entitled these Pysanky Eggs “ The Russian Stranglehold on Ukraine.”
Pysanky eggs are normally produced from real eggs that have been written on using bees wax and then dipped by hand in richly colored dyes. The designs are often very intricate and include elaborate symmetrical designs. They are normally symbols of the Christian faith by the Polish, Slovak and Ukrainian communities. Today, many people around the world craft their versions of the Pysanky eggs around Easter time. In the past couple of years, the eggs have become a symbol of the hope for peace amid the war in Ukraine.
I used 3 different woods for the production of these Segmented Pysanky Eggs. The White Maple wood represents the Ukrainian People. The Red Heart wood represents the blood spilled on both sides of the conflict. The black Ebony wood used for the band around the center of the egg represents the Russian stranglehold on the Ukrainian people.
This video describes the complete production of these Segmented Pysanky Eggs. At the end of this video, I will show closeups of each of these Segmented Pysanky Eggs.
