- Peghead Nation’s dobro instructor Mike Witcher plays a beautiful version of the traditional folk favorite.
When Mike was in the Peghead Nation studio recording lessons, he played this stunning solo version of the traditional folk song “Shenandoah,” which he also teaches in his course.
Mike plays the tune “rubato” or without a regular pulse, with a lot of Dobro flourishes, and with an improvised section in the middle of a performance of the tune.

Wow, I like when the artist slides the picks on the strings as well. Nice!
Absolutely flawless and with such amazing feel ,,, made me cry just gorgeous Mike !!!
Heard this song for the first time today on the way home from work (the 2021 "Spider Sessions" version). It was a special moment. Finding a video performance from the same artist (and that word is an understatement) is especially fortuitous. After the last few years, it's as if the sun has finally broken the cloud.
A master of touch & taste...
TABS TABS TABS 🙏,,,,, utterly awesome!
Absolutely Incredible
Lovely!!❤❤
Puts me in a trans. Well done Mike! I appreciate your finesse, tone, and technique. Lotta heart! Really a blessing to hear you play. Thank you.
Beautiful
Mike really catches the essence of the melody here. Wonderful. BTW, Mie really should make the tab for this available. It would be very popular.
Very nice
Will you please do a lesson on the dobro break on earls breakdown?
