Dermott was a creepy tool but I don't think you can blame Enfield. The show wasn't any good until after the watershed, and as someone else has said I consider the episode 'Gary and Tony' the first series, and never bought the one with Enfield.
Best thing the bbc ever did was take on men behaven badly from itv. It's an iconic 90s ladish classic now. How I remember the 90s when I was a teen 20s and 30s somethings always drinking Lager in people's Flats and talking about Women😂
I was a kid when this show first aired. It's only looking back now that I can see that Caroline Quentin was quite attractive back then. It's funny how perspectives change as you get older. As for the show itself, the best thing they did was to get Neil Morrisey in to replace Harry Enfield. Harry Enfield just didn't have the persona to play that type of character well. He is more suited towards the slapstick cheesy type of comedy that some find appealing. The show was great but too a turn for the worse for me when Tony slept with Dorothy. The entire emphasis of the show was two mates in their early 30's, scared of growing up and when they slept together, the bond between Gary and Tony was never the same. It broke the 'bro's before ho's rule that was an integral part to the show. The show for me still remained good until the next phase where Gary got serious with Dorothy and Tony o with Deborah. That was the point at which the show had lost it's soul and thankfully, they didn't draw it out too much as has been done so many times in the past with other shows.
Yeah he had a massive glow down he went downhill basically he went from being totally adorable 🥰 to absolutely minging 🤮 (when he first started the show he was so fricking adorable 🥰 then on the last season he was fucking minging 🤮🤮
I think Morrissey had far stronger chemistry with Clunes than Enfield did and he suited the sitcom formula more. Enfield admitted himself that he felt uncomfortable in sitcom.
@@fromthegamethrone Agreed He also originally voiced Viz charecter Roger Mellie The Man On the Telly. But was then replaced by Peter Cook who was simply perfect for that charecter. Harry then voiced Tom his PA / producer yet he suits that charecter perfect. He does whiney moaning charecters perfect. It's a funny one that because I can't stand him on Men Behaving Badly just not his character. I don't dislike Harry but I find he suits a certain charecter I loved his Comedy shows, slobs the teen, smashy etc.
R.I.P. Beryl Vertue
I miss this show.. wonderful stuff
Harry Enfield was a great character but Neil Morrissey was the character that was needed
I love Enfield but he wasn't good in the show, completely wrong.
He was awful in this show sorry, Neil saved it
What a show, I miss this so much
I've got a soft spot for the first series. It's not a patch on series three and four but still worth a look.
Clunes made this show
gary also looks like he has got a bit of a trout pout

I've become a fan of Caroline Quentin through Jonathan Creek she's such a brilliant actress

Youre a pro at writing on it
I feel so bad for Leslie Ash, she gets so much flak for that botched lip job.
I don't think it looked botched. Just unnecessary.
Why would you get your lips done like that? The "look I've had my lips done!" look.
She was beautiful until she did that
Dammit, where's part 3!?
@swollower Thats what made the first series so good!!
Where’s part 3??
@laurajoybubbles
Yeah, I can't stand him either. He just couldn't compare to Tony. I wish Tony was there right from the start.
I hated that first actor... he was anoying...His face, him talking...Tony was awesome...
And , god damn it, what this women did with her face ?! 0-o
@laurajoybubbles I love it as it is, but I've always wondered how it would've fared had he stayed...
@strakha0 i think she asked for the lips of clewes :)

Spot on. It got the 90s spot on.
@7777blues Thank christ she didn't get the ears to.
I think it was a botch job I don't think she wanted to end up looking like a spitting image puppet. If I remember correctly she sued the doctor.
Yeah. The person that did her lips mixed silicone with the proper filler to cut costs and ruined them.
They really dumbed down Tony's character in later series

leslie ash has got nice b j lips now lol
Why so much hate for enfield?? I much prefered him to Morrissey.
i have watched series 1 over the years more than the others.

I don't think Enfield was hated. He was OK, good even, but Morrissey was spot on.
He was awful in this
