I took and passed the Class A Air Con Contractors exam and General Contractors Exam both in Gainsville FL. IN 1984-86. It was tough then and I'm sure its still tough.I left the exam with the I'm not sure feeling both tests. I retired in 2010 still living in Florida...

I was there yesterday, too. I was in group 2. I managed to finish all my isos but I am more confident on the multiple choice than my drawings tho. It was my first time and that was exceedingly better than business and finance

Hey Mikey how come you didn't wear your company shirt and pass out some stickers to. You should have told him you're on CZcams so you can show them what you do up North. Where it's cold and you work on steam boilers. That's a lot of hard work then Florida is. 👍🤟💪🥇🏆

Just took the exam today. ISOs we’re fine except when I had to show revents and regular vent connections…. I’m not sure if I drew them properly. Also I know I definitely missed some questions in the PM part…. Hope to see that I pass when I get the results.

When i went to college, i had accommodations. Those included many things to help me level the playing field. One of them was use of the testing center which was this place you went like there, you left everything in a locker and programmed a code. I never left my phone in locker, always put in pocket. They never said anything. During the test you have the choice of headphone or ear plug. There are about 30 plus cameras above watching that can zoom into your ear pubes. I hate taking exams. Exams are bs unless they are not theory. If we are building shit or doing stuff, im all for it. Best guess, no thank you. Im considered an above average IQ but i cant pass an exam to save my life. I should be a doctor, but i cant pass a test.

In short we grow together learn together and live better lives because of it as friends and a community.
I do some plumbing jobs, and I hate going under the sink or crawl spaces. Damn spiders scare me or faucets that are hard to open due to mineral deposits. I hate all construction trades and I'm a contractor
we had 25 questoins in 1971 wen i got the jm lic 5 of us jews passed 45bucks with was a lot of gelt bk then glade im done

We will never know the reasoning behind all the med gas questions. That in itself is a specialized class, braze test and certification.
Great content about the exam.Hopefully you passed! Exam sounds rough, thats why I took the county exam in Florida it wasnt as bad.
@@PipeDoctor Iam registered contractor yes ,still had to take both exams they were a little shorter time wise but most of the surrrounding areas will recipocate with my master license and after five years being registered contractor the state should recipocate with my license.

My buddy is working still on his civil engineering test. 3 times so far. What's screwing him up is they change every question so much at times it seems like what he didn't study for. And it costs him 200 each time. There are tests that are more expensive but point being is it's absolutely a scam imo. That's half a normal weeks paycheck for retail workers lol
These test are designed to pick the best of the best Master Plumber Technicians. Don't doubt yourself, I know you passed..

I was kinda lucky when lived in MI when was 13 as when was in high school was able to also go to trade school along w/ get my hours over the summer (getting paid as well) and when was out of school I took 3 yrs before went to college and did construction on the side, and yes was licensed and worked for company that also paid for continuing education and licenses…not a bad deal imo. But boy do contractor licenses in some states kick your butt and and they mess around to get them; but doing an apprenticeship and being paid while getting licensed isn’t so bad, hard tough work…..but gotta say, ya sleep well at night, no problem😅 Imo if wide awake and can’t sleep, doing something wrong😉
Moved to Florida in 2010 and wish ppl who are licensed from other states could transfer to another, long as pass a test; along w/ getting “certified” w/ the Regs that new state/city/municipality (all 3 at times) requires, as that would be awesome imo.

@PipeDoctor no your not a shit of a person,I was when I work in Corrections in Florida and I pushed out the police commissioner in the nose with Miami-Dade PD and was escort by 2 police officers with my daughter in my arms while thoses blank ass-blanks were holding guns on me. I was not arrested,I was called white trash and I was not going to get hired from the police department because of my race at that time Mikey,they told me never to call them or go onto there property again,that's when Corrections hired me as they knew I was a nice guy and protecting Madonna and Sly Stallone on the outside of the street with a patrol car 3 days a week and had this other nice lady about 6'3 protecting them too,we spilt the shift up and we had the whole block to ourselves and armed to the tee as we closed the city park to at 8pm or 8:30pm. I don't miss Florida at all,I gotten hurt on the job very bad and the hospitals have golf doctors,I ask you not to move down there until you check out the places and hospitals and or clinics. Kinda reminds me when I took the P.E. exam for the state of Indiana in 1976 at age 21 (senior year at uni). All day Sat and most of Sun. Covered ALL engineering subjects, even those we didn't have class or experience in. Some multiple choice, lots of drawings and iso, plenty of blank pages to show math and computations. Only thing allowed was scientific calculators back then, like HP-35, HP-45, HP-55, and sliderules. Closed book. No notes. Guessing and wrong answers on multiple choice was penalized more than leaving it blank. Exam scores were weighted and adjusted to fit bell curves. Talk about exhausting! It was quite hard, and 70 was passing. Got a 68. Damn! Didn't bother to retake it. Didn't want to stay in the Midwest. I was in on the beginnings of Intel CPUs and went with computers and IT the rest of my career and what a career! That didn't require a P.E. License in any state, although today there are a lot of industry certifications companies look for and want you to have. Finally enjoying retirement. 😁

If wanna move to FL Mike, have some great cities you might like; especially during hurricane season.
Also, remember this….I-4 sucks! And if drive it…make sure you allow extra extra time. Toll roads better, compared to I-4 but at depending where going I-4 only choice…and that toll money ADDS UP QUICK even when use a SunPass. The SunRail still doesn’t go everywhere and doesn’t run 24/7 like wish it did, cuz that would be awesome! Just saying
@@PipeDoctor palm Beach area is nice, I’m about 1.5-2 hrs from Kissimmee depending on traffic, and funny thing, my Dad is boss at Kissimmee airport and used to work at MCO, he met a lot of famous ppl there and thing Harrison Ford was a fav, also met Tom cruise and Emeril Lagasse was awesome and even called me at midnight when he landed (Dad works at the private air port at Kissimmee and MCO that walk out to plane, get on, and they take off, the rich side of living, lol. Must be nice to be able to rent or own your own plane and have a pilot standing by 24/7; whole diff world…….
Well, wish ya well and hope to great here in FL and if ever start doing service in Seminole County let me know as I’ll hire you and would have others as well since know do great service, but as of now, your about 3.5 hrs from me, 4 hrs if traffic bad and usually is….so that wouldn’t be good biz decision driving up here.

What books would you suggest for the nyc master license? Also if you currently hold a nyc master plumber license will most states allow you to take the master exam without any type of journeyman/ years working under LMP requirements. I’m Looking to take the nyc master exam in 2025 but want to leave the people’s republic of New York in the near future

@@PipeDoctor correct same place you take the exam usually day before you the actual exam so there’s no way you can review then take the exam the room was very tense I thought people were gonna riot on the ISO’s the graders leave notes as to why you didn’t get points and you can’t read their hand writing which they told us they know is an issue but nothing has been done to improve it

My phone is connected to my insulin pump. Lol
My husband has a tandem insulin pump and his CGM is linked with it. I called to find out if they would have issue with him bringing it in. They said since it beeps and can’t be silenced and he will need to push buttons on it, he needs to fill out the form for special accommodations and he will need to test by himself. Have you taken the state exam? Is that correct? Or can he test with the group, like normal?
@@rachelpierson9802 I have not taken that test but it sounds like that would be the way they'd be trying to accommodate his testing. I could see them doing that. I don't understand the testing alone part though. That's strange. I would think a form filled out by the Dr explaining that the device keeps him alive would more than enough. But government does what government wants to do.
Gotchya. They said he would have to test alone since his insulin pump beeps/alerts/vibrates and the noise could be a distraction to others. The lady with the state said he should apply for additional time too, so he can correct blood sugar if necessary and the “down time” from waiting for glucose to correct doesn’t cause him to run out of time on the test. If he applies for additional time then he will have to do part 1 of the test the first day and part 2 of the test the next day instead of morning and afternoon sessions. There is paperwork his dr has to complete and submit before he can schedule for his test. He’s hoping to test in February 2024
