Oh man, this is so relatable! I rolled into this field from a military background. Because I have high functioning autism, I always thought my people skills weren't great, so me doing physical pen tests as someone suggested to me because of my military background? Well, it turns out I've copied people's behaviors all my life, I've "lied" to people all my life because of that. I basically create the story in my head, and act it out. I'm somehow able to convince myself that I belong and what I'm saying is true, so I don't have the typical signs of a human being lying.
I absolutely love what I do. I get to turn what is a, let's be honest here, a rather negative personality trait into something positive.
PS: As many others have said, your podcasts deserve so much more attention. They are absolutely brilliant!

A nice tactic for getting left unattended in somebody else's building is to suddenly remember you needed to take a quick zoom meeting with legal, or some department which may be sensitive and ask if you could impose on an empty conference room briefly.

Just listening to a bunch of these recordings now and this one is particularly interesting. I never had an experience like this but the reason why it's somewhat relatable is because I used to live in a Latin American country and on occasion, received the visit of an expert from headquarters. Headquarters is in the US and at least back two or more decades ago, we treated them almost like royalty. I don't know, I think it's a culture thing and because I spoke English fluently, I was naturally the guy who took them around. I don't know how I would have felt if all that or part of that would have been a plot to check our security infrastructure. Back in that time technology wasn't that advanced but we already had Internet and email and in fact I was in charge of the ebusiness area. It would have been very upsetting to know that I would have been tricked. Anyway, I know these are the lengths that companies should go to ensure that bad guys don't do these kind of stuff. Wonder how the people in that country felt when they knew. Great show!

Bro these are real penetration testers. These same tactics can be used in a real crime plus if you ran a yt channel you would know you have to keep uploading and any worthy story is good for an upload.

@@weiSane I'm aware, I think I've listened to every episode; but it's not the same story when it's staged by professionals

You and me think alike Jeremy. I find it much more entertaining to listen to real criminals. It's harder to find them and get them to talk too, so it seems much more provocative in that way. But overwhelmingly, people who listen to the show loves these pen test stories the most. So it's fun to mix it up and hear stories from both sides. I personally think there's a good mix of incident responders, victims, criminals, red teamers, and the occasional non-tech related episodes.
What did you think of episode 116, Mad Dog? The one with the CIA officer. He wasn't a criminal per se, but he was definitely not a square posing as criminal.

You would have made an awesome Red Teamer Jack! Curiosity and confidence indeed. 🥷🏻
