Interesting and relevant scenario - Too bad so much of the AI didn't work properly. One wonders if there wont be an Ohio SSGN and / or Vanguard-class missile boat behind the fleet, in case a "swift response" is needed.
Technically all Auxiliary warships (tankers) of the U.K. do carry CiWS and Countermeasures (chaff, flares etc) Which would likely feature in a shit pants the sky is full of a hundred aircraft.
You should not tell Simba that a missile has been fired at him, that would not happen in real life, that a pilot is being told, "hey dude a missile is coming at you".
The Burke should have had 4 standard extended range with nuc's in the vertical launchers. 2 for the raid, followed by two for the missiles that did get launched. Yes I know, escalation possible, but tell me that losing the carrier and most of her escorts would be shrugged off. This South China Sea situation deserves close study and just as good simulation as possible. Jingoistic assumptions from either side need to be publically challenged.
I wonder how much better or worse the Lightnings would perform if you gave them their stealth loadout (internal weapons only) instead of using the wing pylons.
The island they're landing on, look like Cyprus. Which mean either Greece sided on China side or China had help Turkey in capturing all of the island. CSG21 is there to test the island defense. But, was spotted. So the rest of the NATO task force is somewhere west, southwest of the island.
Interesting that the F35s would take off vertically with full loadout AND conformal fuel tank. When I saw that I was like "how does that even". I don't think even the ramp would have worked for that much weight. Super interesting video.
Chinese tactics- "Yeah we don't want the F7s anymore let's just send them out as missile fodder... If they die, they die" Have to envisage a few H6Ks also following up behind all the fast air with a volley of their own C802 etc
Hi Cap, really enjoyable video regardless of the mod limitations etc. Please make more like this one that include mods and make campaigns where you can also use tactics with the mods. Just one thing in regards to stealth aircraft. They do not posses an invisibility cloak and that does not make them invincible. (Referring to the 4++ and 5th gen BVR engagements) Stealth aircraft can also be detected, but only at short ranges around the radars that are looking for them. I.e. when a conventional aircraft can be detected at 200km, a stealth aircraft can be detected at 60km. (numbers are there just to make a point). 👍
Hey cap! How about a mission where the reapers defend a strike group against you and your set up skills with no idea what’s coming. No discussion about it from you. You decide how to attack them buy pre-thinking their reactions and giving them a chance to think about what you will do to fool them. The dialogue their discussions and planning around your thinking and the resulting twists would be great to watch and listen to. You could do another Half of the video where you describe your plans and mix the two after it’s been completed in the final video naturally being in charge of the possible final outcomes you could be the hero or a villain! Be a great way to celebrate the end of the mission which is what makes videos great.Plus everyone gets a chance to contribute their intellect and possible outcomes!
Dude, it is not the South China Sea; it is actually the Eastern Mediterranean. Where those planes land is also a British airbase in the Southern Cyprus. In an "expected" scenario, PLAAF and carrier group positions would be vice versa. Such a mission would be suicidal, it is NATO's southern flank. (Greek and Tukish airforces + US Airbases: At least 350-400 operational, nearly 600-700 aircraft) But it is quite funny that, the fate of a Chinese task force in the Eastern Med. would be similar to a single NATO carrier strike group in the South China Sea.

I'm not done with the mission yet and am only halfway through, but I have an issue with you telling Simba to stick to the mission with the stealthy Chinese jet, but then you warn him off when a missile is coming.
If the Brits are gonna toss away the Billion $ planes like this, They would better served to dig out Jaguars, add extra pilons for missles. At least if they go down, the exchecquer won't have a fit due to cost.
You should have some friends to pilot the jet and make them work like they really do like F-35s sharing intels and coordinated attacks with other jets to make it more realistically.
Bit unfair for Cap to act as an all seeing AWACS in defence of China telling Simba where to go n what to do etc probably cost us 5 or 6 F-35s especially when he old then that they were all in Aline landing in Cyprus n he could pick them off.

The USS Kidd (DDG-100) and USS Tulsa (LCS-16) have joined CSG21. Meanwhile the PLAN Liaoning Carrier Strike Group is conducting its own excersises in the SCS. I would think the F-35 would use the ski-jump for take off from the HMS QE.
"Super" "Stealthy" J20 lol that plane is such a joke
And latter in the video wonders why the F-35 are not being targeted.
Got to say... think you have been a little unfair on CSG21. Shame the 45s didn't work right... knowing what I do about the type 45 they would of performed much better than that! Its a shame QE is only at less than half strength too. She can surge upto 36-40 lightnings in war configurations (yes I know you were testing her as she sails) also.... you guys threw FAR more at CSG21 than you ever have at the US carrier group in those videos! I feel the US carrier has gotten off lightly to be honest!! Do the same Chinese attack with the US group to see how they get on please, it would be really interesting to see!
Still enjoyed the vid though!
Sadly these boats are non-official mods, it's a miracle they worked at all. Won't be a proper sim until the UK boats are put into game properly.
Interesting and relevant scenario - Too bad so much of the AI didn't work properly.
One wonders if there wont be an Ohio SSGN
and / or Vanguard-class missile boat behind the fleet, in case a "swift response" is needed.
Technically all Auxiliary warships (tankers) of the U.K. do carry CiWS and Countermeasures (chaff, flares etc)
Which would likely feature in a shit pants the sky is full of a hundred aircraft.
You should not tell Simba that a missile has been fired at him, that would not happen in real life, that a pilot is being told, "hey dude a missile is coming at you".
Wow Simba doing actual work in this video. How NOT embarrassing for him.
I know right! x
Having 4 Lightnings all the way east, out of position seems like an unnecessary handicap for the Blues.
Nukes would not have been needed to save this CSG in real life, nor would they have been authorized
Simba showing no mercy to the lightning in the dcs
I wonder how much better or worse the Lightnings would perform if you gave them their stealth loadout (internal weapons only) instead of using the wing pylons.
Fun video cap!!! Try CSG21 and Theodore Roosevelt CBG vs Liaoning group and kuznetsov group!
Now THAT's a big fight.
The jets can takeoff with a full load out using the ramp. And by the way, that’s a gun pod not a conformal fuel tank :).
Really enjoyed your excitement in this one! Fist Fighting Pilots, hilarious.
Fun fact, the carrier actually has more Lightning’s than your research indicates. As there are other countries operating from the ship.
Chinese tactics- "Yeah we don't want the F7s anymore let's just send them out as missile fodder... If they die, they die"
Have to envisage a few H6Ks also following up behind all the fast air with a volley of their own C802 etc
There is also a dutch anti aircraft ship sailing with the carrier group, why not include that as well? You did the American one. :)
tbf, diamond is currently not with the fleet so probably balances out
Would love to see a PVP version of this !
agree
GR/Cap…you guys are the best. Keep it up. Yours is the only content I watch the whole way through
That's a nice thing to say :)
(Referring to the 4++ and 5th gen BVR engagements)
Stealth aircraft can also be detected, but only at short ranges around the radars that are looking for them. I.e. when a conventional aircraft can be detected at 200km, a stealth aircraft can be detected at 60km. (numbers are there just to make a point). 👍
Really wished the Type 45 did something, anything.
They were too busy shouting at the Russians.
5 years debate about replacing the F35s Queen Elizabeth mothballed.
Great video, I have to ask, do our carriers need far better on board defences?
Roger all heard.
Good to know that the HMSQE star trek style shield generator is modeled in dcs
lol slightly over modelled me thinkgs
dog fight commentating.a genre I didn't know I needed.
Would love you to do a video on what would happen if the modern Royal Navy fought the Falkland Conflict.
Wow, those F35B's rock!
Hi, the Evertsen is a air defense frigate primarily
Here’s another idea ‘ change the Queen Elizabeth & prince of Wales carriers with CATOBAR system and Angled flight deck using a full Air wing , with variety of Aircraft ‘ F-35C’s FA-18 Super Hornets and F-14D Super Tomcats E-2D Hawkeye plus merlin choppers , and arm her to the teeth with defences on deck to face the Chinese fleet 👍
Excellent. More British battles please.
Roger, as a naval man you probably spotted the 45's and QE weren't really working properly. That's the prob with using un-official mods.
Naval warfare contrary to ground warfare where terrain can helps, gives massive advantages to the attacker Vis a vis Defenders.
Which is why we have submarines to evade detection.
I'm not done with the mission yet and am only halfway through, but I have an issue with you telling Simba to stick to the mission with the stealthy Chinese jet, but then you warn him off when a missile is coming.
Sun headline: "MISSILES PENETRATE BIG LIZZIE MULTIPLE TIMES!"
lol
If the Brits are gonna toss away the Billion $ planes like this, They would better served to dig out Jaguars, add extra pilons for missles. At least if they go down, the exchecquer won't have a fit due to cost.
I live under a rock, is that a new Mediterranean map or just the strait of Hormuz at an odd angle?
the island u saw there was cyprus, it was added as an extension to the syria map
@@user-dn6oi6dt7k Sweet! I'm on a trip (no computer) and too lazy to look, is Greece on there too?
@@usa-1129 no just eastern turkey
You should have some friends to pilot the jet and make them work like they really do like F-35s sharing intels and coordinated attacks with other jets to make it more realistically.
In a huge power move, the Chinese move the island of Cyprus and the coast of Israel across the planet from the Mediterranean to the South China Sea.
What a great image to see the F-35 Bravo taking off vertically 🥰
it would probably be more accurate and faster to deploy using the ski-jump STOVL instead of VTOL.
agree
Jaw dropping fun!
Bit unfair for Cap to act as an all seeing AWACS in defence of China telling Simba where to go n what to do etc probably cost us 5 or 6 F-35s especially when he old then that they were all in Aline landing in Cyprus n he could pick them off.
rgr fair point
@@grimreapers thanks & roger that
it lookes as if the carrier CWIS was comming from the water line in the middle of the ship. if so that might want to be reported to the debs of the ship.
The T45's need to modelled better....they would be launching alot more missiles in a short period and engaging alot further out.
VMA-211 is an American squadron, as it happens, with combat history going back to 1941. 211 was also responsible for the first combat use of the F-35B when a Lightning dropped a GBU on a Taliban position in 2018. I thought that was pretty interesting.
Well and the real Grim Reapers also have roots into WW2
VFA-101, a fun coincidence with the name choice by Cap perhaps?
And where exactly were they in this
@@1IbramGaunt Aboard the HMS _Queen Elizabeth._
Something tells me the British are going to be full strength probably real stealth. The Chinese will have the equivalent of a bb gun. I am guessing 4 Chinese planes and 150 British planes.
The USS Kidd (DDG-100) and USS Tulsa (LCS-16) have joined CSG21. Meanwhile the PLAN Liaoning Carrier Strike Group is conducting its own excersises in the SCS. You didn't factor the use of Xian H-6 bomber regiments based in the area (both PLAAF and PLAN) which can deliver up to 7 YJ-12 ASMs on the latest models. Also, the Chinese SCS bases can likely deploy YJ-62 cruise missiles.
How can you shout "beautiful lightning" in the presence of the J15/SU33? I know beauty is subjective but com'on 😄
Type 45 is the best anti-air ship in the world. The ship air defense is broken on DCS.
For Type 45 yup agree
The Dutch Frigate is a command and air defence frigate with momentarily the best radar in the world. It can take on ICBM. It is the main air defence in the CAG.
thx
My god, your heading is so original.
So, your scenario is based on the beginning of WWIII. Why not introduce the US fleet and the US bases including Guam.
for the love of God please stop flying the F35 with external stores. That will NEVER be done unless we have absolute air superiority.
In real life , how can the F-35 be stealthy with outside stores being carried ?
Because it still has an extremely low radar cross-section and radar-reflective material on it, it won't be AS stealthy in "beast mode" sure but it'd still be a lot stealthier than anything Chinese in the sky
Can PLAAF defeat an US carrier group?
trying that next week.
I was waiting for a video on the CSG2021 and this is a really good one.
Is it fuck, the Type 45's didn't do anything and died far too easily, the Type 23's or Astute-class weren't ALLOWED to do anything and he only gave the Queen Elizabeth 8 of the 18 jets she currently has on her, never mind the 40+ she could carry at full capacity
F-35 has great passive IR.
Well I wouldn’t expect it to have active IR 😅
Let’s hope this doesn’t end up like the Iranian tanker taken over by the Royal Marines during Ttrumpf’s presidency when there was only one Royal Navy vessel left in the Strait of Hormuz with no back up. Way to go Boris.
idk if there is such a mod, but for realism the british should be firing sm6 missiles, also the f35s werent stealthy there, since they were also using external hardpoints, they had a large rcs
rgr but SM6 not yet in game.
That's not what China is saying. They are saying don't go within 12 miles of the island they have claimed.
capt can you do a video comparing the queen Elizabeth vs the Nimitz class, comparing the time it takes them to launch the same number of planes.
sure
@@grimreapers its easy the QE would have all her aircraft up before the Nimitz got half way through as that is how she was designed the QE class has more sorties a day then the Gerald ford class also in a war footing the QE class could have up to 70 F35b on board
The real world scramble rates aren’t comparable between CATOBAR and the UK carrier. Catobar wins every time, even without emals as it should work.
Based on what sources do you say this?
The mod's use of VTOL instead of STOVL does kinda seem weird, but it can to VTOL with around ~7000lb of fuel and weapons, which should be enough for this kind of short-range scramble.
I serve on the QE this was good to see
Cool!
All ships didnt deploy ECM.. was it not programmed?. Not to mention that they kept their profile big. They couldve sailed south and reduce the radar sig while spoofing the trackers
Not modelled in game sadly.
Why did the f35 have external fuel and missiles.
That one of the reasons they where detected.
I didn't really think about it :(
@@grimreapers and to be quite honest the missile set up for royal navy f35 is way wrong try using meteor missiles instead as its range is so far out that the Chinese would never even see a f35 as meteor firers behind visual range
Next can you do a USA strike group supported by a British carrier strike group versus a Chinese and Russian strike group
So take-away? The RN needs an actual carrier with an actual organic fixed wing AWAC plane and a larger air wing.
Or.... we use a simulation thats actually realistic. This is game and represents absolutely nothing to do with real life
@@kendonian357 it's a math problem. Take max number of bandits that can be launched against you in a 30 min window. Divide by 0.75, divide result by 6, divide that by 0.65 which gives you the minimum number of airframes.
@@pogo1140 it's also a GAME problem? they say in the video that the game's barely able to simulate the Strike Group's capabilities properly, and apparently that is indeed the case given the Type 45 destroyers didn't do jack all and died far too easily, none of the three frigates or the submarine got to do anything at all and the carrier had half the air-group it should've had even compared to what the real CSG 21 has, never mind what a QE class can actually carry and launch in total
@@1IbramGaunt The QE's air wing is composed of 18 F-35B's and at current mission availability rates (the plane can do one of the missions it's tasked with) maybe 9-12 are actually available.
asters from the type 45's didn't launch properly - do the f35's not have meteors?
sadly no.
Where the type 23 frigates modelled ? I feel like their Sea Ceptor missiles would of mauled the Chinese anti ship missiles.
They didn't fire, no idea why not.
