I played Shakuhachi at an inner-city school in Chicago. I assumed those kids would not know what a shakuhachi was. Big mistake. Those kids asked me non-stop if I had ever met John Kaizan Neptune and told me how their mom and dad has his albums. It hit me so hard how big and diverse his audience is. I hope to meet him one day.
@@KochikuShakuhachi I have not seen it yet, but I think its called "Words can't go there" right? I remember that album all too well! I'd love to meet him should he come visit the states again. I have had the honor of playing a few of the shakuhachi he has made and all were outstanding!
John is such a good player, he's a true ambasador of shakuhachi. I wish I could get one of his flutes. I've heard they're superb instruments. Maybe one day. I'll keep looking🙃 Much love✌️
Marcin my main performance flutes are all Neptune jinashi. I prefer very light instruments and John has always been so kind to find very light pieces of bamboo for me. The balance is always superb on his instruments!
Haaa haaa! I was playing "Amazing Grace" the old standby on my trumpet in Mountain View California. I wasn't making much money, but what the hey. But, unfortunately, Mountain View has these really rabid, crazy, Christians and one came up and started preaching at me and would not go away. So I started "jazzing up" my Amazing Grace and this bugged the guy. He told me to stop and I kept jazzing it up, and it bothered the guy so much he went away.
