Narcissism is characterized by a grandiose sense of self-importance, a lack of empathy for others, a need for excessive admiration, and the belief that one is unique and deserving of special treatment.
You might be living with a narcissistic person. Sometimes it is hard to see the signs. Pathological narcissism, or narcissistic personality disorder, is rare: It affects an estimated 1 percent of the population, a prevalence that hasn't changed since clinicians started measuring it. The disorder is suspected when narcissistic traits impair a person’s daily functioning.
So, how do you spot a narcissistic person? A narcissistic person can hide their symptoms behind being charismatic, charming and smart. But in time this façade will come down because of the lack of empathy. They often lie and cheat to maintain the high standards what they built. The partner stays in the relationship with the hope that one day it will be better. How do you deal with it?
Nothing is going to be enough for narcissist person. Living to their expectations is going to be a hard task and often people fail.
Mindfulness may in fact be the single most important tool in a relationship. Narcissism can be treated but you will need professional help.
