I can name three on the top of my hand:
1. Physics
2. Mathematics
3. Philosophy
Joseph G. Hotto I don't think maths is underrated
Thanx thoughđ
@@Jeontastic Not a lot of people major in it, at least at my university. K-12 Schools don't teach it well at all due to their obsession with memorization, when in reality, math is about finding an alternative way to figure out the problem. Discrete Math seems basic in terms of Math but it was super hard for me and barely passed with a C- because I was used to following step-by-step how to solve the problem.
Shane I started this year studying communications then I found your channel by watching your tier list video about mayors and I was kind of disappointed because Com was low BUT that helped me to realize that it wasnât very profitable AND that I didnât even like com I was just studying because it was easy for me, now Iâm studying marketing AND business administration and Iâm really liking the career SO THANKS A LOT

Ah finally, i have been consistently pushing for this for almost 2 months. Thanks Shane

Pretty good video.
I got my Ba in music in 2013 and got my MBA in 2014 because at that time, everyone had a BA or BS, and I needed to set myself up to stand out and got a masters.
Now we are getting to a point where everyone almost needs a masters.
I would say if youâre gonna do anything? Double major? Make one of them business. Itâs such a fluid degree. Marketing, accounting, HR, sales, IT, MIS, economics, etc.
You can almost do anything with it (in terms of landing a job).
With automation, you almost have to choose a career that will 1) get you decent money 2) wonât be phased out.
Anything that requires you to be with people + has a demand for? Go that route.
Go into IT. So many people (like myself) know Jack squat about computers and information systems.
There will always be a need.
Business, go into operations, or accounting, or HR where youâre leading a team of people.
I work in accounting, and Iâm having to learn put myself ahead of the curve with coding because soon high schoolers who know how to code and know that language can easily beat me out of a job if I donât ever learn it or adapt my skill set.
So I say always aim for a degree that will land you in a place that will always be at the epicenter of adaptation and innovation so you can earn a decent living and always fine tune your skills.
Thank you for coming to my TedTalk
Thanks for your input Zach

Good video! I am currently studying BSc Quantitative Economics and Finance. I am bit worried about my future because it is hard to get started with a job with just Quantitative Economics degree, but I've been coding casually for 2 years and now I am doing Data Science program online. So, After finishing my degree I plan on working for a year in Data Science industry, and then going for Masters in Computer Science. My end goal is to be Data Scientist and Software Engineer, I want to make sure I have solid professions lined up. Besides that, I know it will sound cliché but I want to build tech business and do freelancing work on the side and those degrees will definitely help me a lot.

Great vid. To be honest instead of double majors I look at it as "enhancement majors". That is, any second degree which improves your overall ability to do work in your first degree. These are majors that are common to most industries so you can "get in" and enable you to lobby for the job you really want. Business, Information Technology, Business Analytics and Education fit the bill pretty well IMO.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this Rufus

I am interested in brand design (logos and brand style guides) however I will probably start as a marketing assistant or graphic designer and work my way up/explore other opportunities! Hope I made sense :)
Im doing a double degree
Design and business = basically choose one major from both degrees
Shane, i'm in favor of marketable double majors but even more in favor of getting a single undergrad followed by a grad degree in the secondary topic. The reason is that double majors tend to be perceived as "more of the same" whereas grad degrees are necessary for many upper level positions that an undergrad would not be qualified for. I think that getting lots of education in one's chosen profession is a very good idea though. for me, it has helped tremendously to have a broad education in terms of job security, mastery of the topic which helps to reduce stress in the workplace, and advancement. however this only holds true if the skills are marketable and being applied in the workplace. if those hold true then you'll soon be recognized as the resident expert.
Thanks for your input on this Mark. Much appreciated insights

Another solid video! It should be noted that some colleges won't actually allow you to double major in Accounting and Finance due to too much overlap in their curriculums. This is at least true in Canadian universities, anyway.
Good point Daryl

Actually, the organization that sponsored me said that I can't do a double major without paying for it upfront on my own, so I ended up doing a combined major of math and physics since that's what my university provided me.
