Hello, LF73. Hello, LF73. I have a suggestion. You can put a gutter on 1side or both sides of your carport & direct that Rain water into your pickle barrel. A drill, rivet gun & rivets, gutter, down spout & cap is all you'll need. Angel the gutter lower on the downspout side so the water will flow towards that side.
Hi Lead! I love your channel. I'm a single woman that lives in the city currently, but in November of last year I took the plunge and bought 10 acres of land. The land is undeveloped, heavily wooded, wildlife exemption. this is how i survived without running water for a year and a half out in PR. i put screens over the big barrels to filter out leaves and such when i dumped the little buckets. i also used a portable water heater and a rechargeable shower head pump. i bought drinking water though.

Great idea, I would cover the tops with paint strainers netting to keep trash and bugs out. they will fit the 5 gallon buckets and maybe the 50 gallon. HD has them in packs of 2. I use them they work great.

I see a lot of folks suggested gutters. And lawd knows you didn't ask for suggestions lol, but I think that it's great that you got folks thinking. My thought went to daisy chaining elevated 5 gallon buckets in a descending stair case type way, to feed into the 50 gallon drums. But why make things more complicated? LOL Lifting them buckets will keep ya strong 💪😊.

Hey Lead that is wonderful my brother. I do the same thing with my cabin that I built. It works like a champ. You may want to add a filtering screen mesh to help with not having small leaves and dust particles from getting inside which can form algae in standing water.
You are right about the screening but I’m just doing what I have to with what I got for now. When I go back in town I will grab some screen from my garage. I have plenty.
Permaculture homestead has one of those carports that he put gutters on to collect water in IBC tanks. He uses it to help water a food forest at Locklear Farms near Columbia. Excited for yalls journey!
Hey l f happy thought about maybe attaching rain gutters to the side of your carport and then a downspout directly into a 55-gallon drum? Hopefully that'll be less work for you to do empty in the five gallon bucket and it can be part of a permanent system has a backup
I am waiting for parts to put in my well… daily trips to the nieghborhood boat ramp and fill wide mouth containers… garden water. I wait until after someone launches a boat so they scare off the gators. I saw the price of having a well drilled and opted to to hammer in my own 20 to 40 foot well and collect rain water for drinking.

I am driving a well Stake on one side of my land, auger well drilling another side of my land and I am now in the process of building a Ram pump for my creek. When I was a child we farmed. We would take a mason jar and go to the stream to get water to keep from walking all the way back to the house. That was the best cold water..

Install some rain gutters with different sized screens that are easy to remove and clean. DIY, then have this go into your gravity filter to a different drum if you are drinking it. Also recommend getting pH sticks to check acidity from the rain even after the filtering to make sure it's safe.

If you do not have rain gutters, this is a good idea. Otherwise, rain gutters, or even a PVC tube, cut in half and led to make a Jerry rigged one, should do the trick. A flash filter helps as well to keep our leaves and such. You can have it set up to go to one tank and then just run a drip system to the others. If you want to get fancy, set up a stand and have the system be gravity fed all the way to your garden beds. The only work you need to do then, is turn a valve and ta da! Water. No pumps needed. It all works with gravity and force/ Pressure.

It’s a 1/4hp pump and I don’t know the amps but I know it draws about 240-290 watts when running. It will run forever if you put a bigger power station on it and panels to keep it fully charged all day

It’s a 1/4hp pump and I don’t know the amps but I know it draws about 240-290 watts when running. It will run forever if you put a bigger power station on it and panels to keep it fully charged all day

What’s the specs on the sump pump, watt, amp, hp that the eb3a is running?
