This is the song that got jump started Dionne Warwick career with Burt Bacharach. He heard something that he like about her background Singing and the rest is history.
i had this album and i played it over and over again!!! i am 63 so i love all the great soul groups and soul singers! there are some great young voices out there but the material today just doesn't showcase their voices. when i heard r kelley's when a woman loves, it just made me really happy that a younger artist was doing such a great soul ballad!!!! thanks soso much for posting this!!!!!!
"Mexican Divorce" is my favorite Drifters record after "There Goes My Baby, "This Magic Moment", and "Some Kind of Wonderful"... But come to think about it, everything the Drifters did was pretty good...
This was a live performance in Chicago attended by a fan who actually met Rudy and the Drifters. I merely wanted details on their personalities and appearances as a devoted lady fan. Some of us are still around who actually saw that set of Drifters performed lived. If you can't be there, television or tape is the next best thing. Oh well I can always imagine.
My cuz (who's married to a Mexican) is getting a divorce, and out of the blue I found myself singing this song and freeking out that I had even remembered it @! Drifters rock forever!!
The lead vocal on this song is Rudy Lewis. Cool, slim dude. They all were wearing dark brown tux. Charlie Thomas, there was Dock, and Tommy. I have all their songs. There was another dude called Elsbeary. He was back stage and we drank wine with him and the group during intermission. Priceless..When the Drifters returned back on stage they sang a song called Baltimore and Elsbeary did a base part in this song that was really out of sight. You can hear his voice loud and clear. Priceless..
That is actually Rudy Lewis third from the left in the photo in this video. Sadly there doesn't seem to be any live video recording of him performing live with the Drifters.
Sometimes singing harmonise can be more harder than singing some lead vocals, to sing harmony is not always as simple as it may sound to none singer ears, so I'm not surprised that the great icon DION WARWICK is on vocals Harmonise, I bet you that she love every second of every minute singing with the SENSATION DRIFTERS Beautiful vocals for a complete song that's fill with passionate that's so heavenly, THE BLACKSTONES
Awesome tune that is rarely heard nowadays, and which wasn't really promoted during the early 1960's by Atlantic Records; I think it was the B side of a record? My amateur group The Sinclairs, i.e., Arthur Stewart, Eddie Albino, Joe Khan, Eddie Griffin and me made this song part of our repertoire.
Mijn lieve Walther van mij! Dan ben ik supertrots op jou. Dan kun je toch naar huis komen. Zondag ga ik ook naar buiten. En dinsdag ook! Lieve Walther heb aub vertrouwen in mij!! Ik ga nooit weg bij jou. Dat komt omdat ik in zo'n kutsituatie zit. Ik heb het moeilijk en jij maakt het mij moeilijk!
So how was RUDY, I know he sounds fantastic. But was he tall, short, slim? Who was with him at the the time with the Drifters? I remember so well, the day he died, right before SAM. What a voice they both had.
Hi edagdwg thanks for sharing you live and learn it doesn't take learn she didn't live you anyway sad better than not being happy with someone just for show Linda j peace of mind pray changes everything and people ❤️❤️❤️❤️💯💯🌈🌈🌈🐻🐻🐻
Sir Ben E King did not do most of the leads . Their biggest hits if you do your homework featured Rudy Lewis and Johnny Moore on lead. Even after King returned to the Drifters Johnny Moorewas still the lead singer.
Rudy Lewis, what a fantastic singer, all the emotion in the world.

The Drifters another great group of singers ❤️❤️❤️👍🏽
This is Rudy Lewis singing Mexican divorce with the Drifters. I saw the Drifters back in the 60's in Chi Town and Rudy Lewis was singing lead.
You will never find a better group if gentlemen, ever. I grew up on these bad ass dudes and to this day, they still sound like heaven.
Heavenly.
Why should I die and leave music like this behind?😂😂😂😂

65blackbaby you are correct we can only imagine! Somebody must have some film footage with Rudy Lewis and The Drifters.
For me, Rudy Lewis was the best lead singer of The Drifters. He died tragically aged just 27 in 1964
He overdosed.

Terry Gale yeah he had a voice like silk so smooth. he was only 27

@@leonleiffer1915 This particular song is the starting point of her career.
It was a surprise to those who don't read and research this is when Mr Bacharach realised Dionne Warwick was a sleeping giant .The rest is history.

I'm reading all the comments and no one mentioned Ben E King on lead. I think he is the better lead thus most of the songs.

@@keithcampbell6806 it's not that serious

On this song is: Dionne, Dee Dee, Cissy and Myrna. No Doris Troy on this one.
no definately not. it is rudy lewis
I loved Mr Ben E King but I love Mr Rudy Lewis better.
The two best lead singers of the Drifters were Rudy Lewis and Johnny Moore no doubt.
