I just started the game yesterday and hornet was quite reasonable ( didn't die ) she has some massive audio queues to telegraph attacks, I hear she comes back tougher later on. I had a slight trouble with that big bug with the sword and shield though. I suppose the quicker bosses aren't an issue yet because I just came from getting my ass whooped over and over again in dead cells.
The first time I died in Dark Souls 2, was from jumping off a ladder. Literally why did they change the ladder sliding controls? It's so dumb, and the "This is Dark Souls" achievement that popped up gave me a telltale sign of From's thought process when making the game.
