- After the success of Until Dawn, Supermassive Games has been pretty regular in its delivery of horror titles with The Dark Pictures Anthology. The Quarry is very much in the same vein but also a bit different with 2K Games as the publisher.
It also offers more of a “teen horror” bent than its more recent horror titles along with various new gameplay features. Releasing on June 10th for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS4, PS5, and PC, let's take a look at 13 things you should know before picking it up. - Hry
Supermassive Games are giving players as many ways to play as there are deaths for each character. Seems like they're really going the extra mile to expand their player base.
Then they should convince $ony into releasing Until Dawn on PC already. I mean it's been 7 YEARS ffs.
Stop being a lil' b17** and just drop the exclusive like they did with Horizon, Days Gone, GoW and Uncharted and just make the damn port (maybe even adding Bloodborne into the deal too?).

@@Zapper-Zac That's why ports exist. You adapt the product to the medium and/or ecosystem. It's not like they can't change it to something PC-friendly.
The actual reason why is "extremely unlikely" is because $ony isn't interested. Especially now that they created their own version of Game Pass. They need their best games to keep people interested in it. That's also the reason why you're never going to see a Bloodborne port.
So yeah, IK I'm just dreaming here but can't blame me for trying.

I'm definitely adding this to my collection. I've enjoyed every game from them so far, and this sounds like it'll be just as good, if not better, than the previous titles.
Edit/update: I bought The Quarry a couple days ago, and I've been enjoying it so far. It does feel a lot more like Until Dawn than the Dark Pictures series. It's a fun, kinda 80s slasher, type of game. If you enjoyed Until Dawn, go buy this game. You won't regret it.

I really liked Until Dawn but the last couple have been absolute duds. This looks so much better a return to real horror.
All the Dark Pictures have felt really sloppy and underwhelming compared to Until Dawn. Hoping this will hit the same notes as Until Dawn because it is not part of the Dark Pictures series and has funding from 2K.

I've heard of the Quarry, but I didn't know it was the spiritual successor of Until Dawn, nor that it was made by Super Massive games.
Will definitely be picking this up.

Try watching this preview from ACG, where he talks about it & describes why its a "spiritual successor." BTW a spiritual successor is NOT the same thing as a sequel. It just means that they share a lot of things in common.

I felt like their other games were lacking some of the until dawn mechanics and didnt play as smooth, I'm hoping this will be similar to until dawn just with more options
@@donnybuoy because something gives you VIBES doesn't necessarily mean it's defined as a sequel.
Stranger Things gives you VIBES from nearly every pop culture movie from the '80s. Yet It is a sequel to NONE of them. Learn what the definition of the word "vibes" mean. Spiritual successor has every indication of vibes within that terminology. Game aesthetics, animation, and genre all fall under vibes. As in "it reminds you of something similar."
And yes it should be quite obvious because the game does get vibes from Until Dawn. So it will be a no brainer that it could be the same developer, and if not same developer at least the same company responsible for the two games. It doesn't take rocket science to figure that out.

Absolutely loved Until Dawn, one of the best couch coop games I've ever played with friends. The Dark Pictures games were also spectacular with a friend. Can't wait to sit down with some friends and a bowl of popcorn while we play this one.

@Drew's Memories House of Ashes was okay but the other 2 games man of medan and Little Hope were bad.
Director Mode, the collectables and costumes are nice additions. Even the filters are the exact ones I would have asked for, so me and this game on the same page there. The Quarry has the potential to be even better than Until Dawn. It's one of my most anticipated games
I have played it and loved it! I would 100% recommend picking this up. 100 times better than all the Anthology games put together.
Love these types of games! It reminds me of the choose your own adventure books I read as a kid in the 90s. Hardy boys was my favorite back then. This being horror makes me more excited. Already pre ordered
Movie mode sounds awesome. Set characters personalities and watch a movie.
I'm hoping I can get it for my birthday in a couple of weeks. I'm beyond excited for it.

These kind of games are brilliant as a one time playthrough. I find it impossible to sit through a second time though so always find the price tag too steep.

Wish these games got more attention, maybe they do. Also, and I could be wrong since I haven't played it yet obvi, but I wish games like this had more getting to be the actual teenagers. That is, party, drink, smoke, and flirt, before the killings. Idk I am excited, especially fr David Arquette. I just can't wait for the day where games are literally story mode, decision based, open worlds games. In other words, let me be a Barbie lol, dress up, chill, smoke drink for a little, and then there's like a room a button that suggest start the game, start the story mode. Idk if this makes sense lol. Nonetheless, soo excited!! Can't wait for the future of gaming as well.

My love supermass of games and always support their games at lunch but I’m going to wait for sale on this one. Locking the last generation versions behind a $80 pay wall is a bit greedy. The game looks awesome though
This game is gonna be beyond epic for horror fans... just like Until Dawn. I NEVER pre-order games... ever but, with this game, I just might have to break & pre-order because this game looks awesome!!!!!
Until Dawn was great but the other dark picture games afterward were pretty disappointing. This game certainly looks like a lot more money and has some decently famous actors (Ted Raimi! lol) so hopefully the story is up to par. Hoping to buy if the reviews are good, play it with a friend.
The reason for this is because Until Dawn was published by Sony, which is why is it was PS4 exclusive and took great, phenomenal, advantage of the motion controls in amazing sequences. However the following games I believe were, mostly, self-funded and had no major corporate backing. Though recently, 2k interactive (NBA2k and WWE2k, also known for their micro transactions and, and albeit better than EA) funded this project which is why it’s on the same level as Until Dawn, hopefully this sells really well and we get another of this magnitude!

This seems like what telltale walking dead was doing with the choices but implemented much better since saving a characters life doesn't mean they will just die later on. The game mechanic seem cool but I'm too scared to play horror games haha
Will this game have a purchase option similar to "A Way Out" where if one of your friends purchases the game, you could then install a free demo version of the game and play it for free with your friend who purchased it?

This game was fun but I still prefer Until Dawn as it was much more difficult and rewarding. Also take a look at the Dark Pictures anthology played all those and they are also fun with Devil in Me being their stand out in my opinion though again Until Dawn was the best overall.

These games are neat but I'll wait for the eventual Gamepass like dark pictures has done. 60-70$ for a game just doesn't last anymore. Games are rarely worth the tag anymore.

It's a great game but it's just so dark in places even with my settings have changed but can't find the path with Jacob in chapter 5
This looks really good. But none of the characters will ever top Salim for house of ashes
Now this is just me but I liked the DPA games but not as much as until dawn because it didn’t have the feeling or length to me I hope this game is different due to it being just a single series game and not a trilogy game
Already got it in my library, super hyped! House of ashes was abit of a let down for me. Glad they took the 80's slasher horror route as a base with this game.

Very short and not as many characters. I liked the first 2. The last one wasn't my favorite. I am looking forward to the next one. Looking forward to the quarry as well.
@@41Haloh I just didn't find it as intriguing as the others and I felt they could have done more with twist of them being an "alien race" don't get me wrong I still enjoyed playing it with my friend. Just not as much as the previous games.
$70 a bit pricey for me for what the game is but i cant wait to play it when it goes on sale

I bought this and am loving it, but I feel like the over realistic way of it throws it off a little.. like the motion blur and environment around the characters just feel more off than the last few games.. but that is my only complaint so far .. maybe also add a little bit of bad chemistry of the cast

The only Supermassive game I haven't played yet is Little Hope because I think the whole Witch Trials thing is dumb but every other game from the Dark Pictures Anthology and Until Dawn I've enjoyed so I'm really looking forward to this and The Devil In Me

Or it'll be as simple as Until Dawn's. "Have ALL characters survive" or "Have all characters die" plus a few specific fun death related trophies to see. Hopefully it won't be a Heavy Rain or Beyond Two Souls where it's "See ALL Endings" for a gold trophy.

If they don’t have a mode just like that then there’s no reason to buy the game because plane by yourself it’s fine I guess but I prefer to play with other people but then there’s a consequence of the other individuals doing you dirty on purpose or just for laughing and jokes

Oh i see what kinda game this its a movie game with some gameplay and a lot of qte's that weaves you through the narrative of multiple people and stories. What was that one game with the wendigos and the serial killer that was your freind.. untill dawn or something.

The PC REQUIREMENTS 7:07 Are stupid, the fact there are no extra installations for the higher graphics means the game takes up waay more storage than it should, as an example, the console versions only take up 32 GB

There's gonna be a lot of toxic multiplayer people just trying to get everyone killed
I love that they seemed to run out of time for modeling werewolves so they just repurposed the Wendigo models. But didn't take out references to the "white wolf" that was clearly intended to be meant as a WOLF LIKE entity, so they just inexplicably made his skin whiter than the rest even though it goes directly against the established "change sequence" where theyre red because the skin basically explodes off. I think hair is just super difficult to get right and they were already struggling big time with the water so they just had to forgo an actual Werewolf Werewolf.
Yes but for some reason I think it adds to the horror of it. Bald werewolves are scarier than harry ones in my opinion.

The most distracting thing of these games is the eyes. The eyes never emote right for what's going on or just don't look afraid enough.
