  • An unassuming one-room shoe factory in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe is quite literally defying the economic odds. Founded in 1994, the Courteney boot company has become a global niche brand in hand-made footwear. Despite a downward-spiralling Zimbabwean economy, the 14 staff at Courteney have their hands full to keep up with the increasing international demand.

What a surprise find! I have had a pair since…..wait for it……1997. Good 25 years worth of service and still going strong.

Fantastic shoes. I've had mine since 2005 and use them in the veld on my Game Ranch in South Africa regularly. They are light and fit like a glove. I have never seen a shoe quite like it.

I do love this shoes. It took me two years to find a pair of Courteney Selous boots. I have them now since three moths and break them in for 250km. Now the fit like gloves and a ready for my next hunt in Africa.

Tad bit expensive I would say. Considering Zim's currency is worth nothing I would have expected better price points. You can get great boots in SA at half those price points, Jim Green, Veldskoen, etc come to mind. Clearly aimed at tourists.

Wow did I just hear that... Why would an employee...be put up to say about how they are lucky to have a job in an advert... 😂
Why the justification is it guilt/exploitation or both... worse still its disrespectful of another human being's worth.
Like the employer is doing them a favour out of the goodness of their kind heart...
