His rookie season was pretty good only for his age and high school drafter. But in absolute standard, it wasn't, and the Rookie of the Year should`ve gone to Melo. The funny thing is that in his debut season, he only took two steps legally. If anything, his movements were much better back then. I don't know when it started, but about three or four years after his debut, he started taking three steps ugly uncalled, and since the league tolerated the gather-step, he's been taking four steps by the old rules.
