- The Baltimore Orioles did lose the series to the Milwaukee Brewers this weekend, but they did not get swept. Jackson Holliday picked up his first career hit on Sunday and sparked a rally for the Orioles in their 6-4 win. I went to the Friday game. It was a disaster. It rained despite my weather app saying no rain. The O's got blown out. Holliday struck out 3 times. Mountcastle and Rutschman weren't playing. The offense as a whole struck out 11 times. It felt like every pitch Wells threw was either a ball or hard hit. The guy they brought up after him struggled even harder. The game got out of hand so we didn't get to see any of the better bullpen arms. The only positives were Cowser continued to be red hot, I got a cool tshirt, and the spicy chicken sandwich I got was pretty good. Hopefully that was the worst game the Orioles play this year. The Brewers were giving playoff Ranger vibes with how hot they were.

To my favorite O's podcaster--and the most knowledgable and informative sports podcaster I've heard: can you address this? Why are the 12 teams to qualify for last year's playoffs a net 95-93 win loss so far this season? How can it be that last year's final four are currently a net 30-35 W/L? And six of the last year's final 12 so far have allowed more runs than they have scored. Any thoughts?

In that middle game, the plate umpire single-handedly changed my mind on robo-umps. I'm all in now. Bring on the robo-umps. Now.
2nd half of the game, *4 different Orioles* struck out looking on pitches that were obviously balls. He called 'em wrong inside, outside, and low; he just needed to call a too-high strike to hit for the ump-failure cycle.
Those calls were so bad and so consistently going against us to create outs, that I *honestly* wondered if we've already arrived at the sports-betting-has-captured-an-ump stage (seems a little early for that), but a lot of those strike outs happened with a runner on base.
The KBO has started using the ABS (Automated Balls and Strikes) this season and it has upset many hitters. Borderline pitches that barely touch the box are all strikes. Those are 50/50 pitches with regular umps, especially the ones up in the zone and down in the zone. I don't think MLB will go that route, they will probably have some sort of a challenge system.
I watch a lot of KBO and there are a lot less hitters arguing about calls. Where did you read that they didn't like it?@@CamKrazy2000
@@colew123 Arguing with umpires is not accepted in the Korea culture, it's simply not a thing to do over there. They started using the ABS this season and I didn't say there were arguments. Besides there's no point in arguing with home plate umps who are simply relaying the calls from the system. There was a video clip I saw from one of the Korean broadcast companies, SBS I think it was and it showed hitters getting upset over strike calls. Some of them were ridiculous since the pitches missed the catcher's target by a foot. BUT they touched the box so were called strikes.

Probably more like Cowser - Hays and Westburg - Urias. Their time being over is much more imminent

Cowser is playing phenomenally, however, he will cool down. I can see Holliday heating up soon and possibly overtaking Cowser in performance... Either way, would love to see those two finish 1 & 2 in ROY.

Do you think they should call up Povich as the 5th starter, moving Cole to the BP? Means can replace Wells. These strengthen BP and SP and don’t rush/rely on Bradish

But my 2 cents would be no. Too early for Povich.
Might Elias be working to swing a trade for a top quality starting pitcher? Might the Marlins be in sell mode? If we're in win now mode getting another top of rotation starter makes sense to me. And unclogs the talent pipeline to some degree.
Not unless something happens with Kyle and Means. If they come back and return to form the rotation is great, not many teams could weather losing 2 of their top pitchers. Most of our losses have been because of defense and hitting.
When Perez comes back.....or Means, Baumann is gone.
Same problem as in the playoffs. Can’t beat a hot team. Would love to see fat Albert Suarez get a shot in the bullpen. He can definitely bring the heat. Hopefully Freddie Garcia doesn’t veto the move because he is a sucky evaluator of talent.

If we don’t tighten up our pitching we will not make playoffs let alone make the World Series. Orioles pitchers pitch scared , get ahead on pitch count and the. They run the count up forcing themselves to throw a strike and then serves a homer up, so annoying

As long as guys like Dean Kremer and Tyler Wells are starting twice a week this team will not sniff the world series
Hopefully Means and Bradish will be back soon.
Then you can get 2 of Irvin, Kremer or Wells out of the rotation.
Wells is a bullpen guy. Kremer is a great #5. We've had a tough schedule despite what talking heads said going into the season.
Don't forget Irvin. He's the worst of the bunch
Ok its early i get the pannic....but means and or bradish arw no guaruntee....dean had 1 good outing and might be alright.....i think irvin stuff looks better just has to harness it....wells just looks bad but he can still turn it around, however he is best fit for bp when an injuried starter returns
