    No tocan mal, parece una orquesta chica que que toca fuerte para ganar caudal. La acústica de la sala no parece muy buena, se pierden mucho las bajas frecuencias.

    • @aegaldo
      @aegaldo Před 7 lety +2

      JavierHoses. El tamano de la orquesta parece variar de acuerdo a la ocasion, Me imagino que la mayor parte de las veces es pequena y algunas otras pequenisimas. Por otro lado no hay que perder de vista que ninguna de estas grabaciones son profecionales, en cuyo caso se podria manipular mas el sonido de manera mas fovorable. De todas maneras hay que agradecer el esfuerso de habanero0494, entre otros, por hacernos llegar estas maravillas.

    I find the prima ballerina’s feet a little untidy. The ballerina soloists had more finely shaped feet than she did.

    During the Soviet period, when Cuba and Russia were close, Moscow sent top ballet masters, choreographers and teachers to Cuba to train young ballerinas. Cubans learned it from Russians. Traditionally, Cubans aren't dancers but musicians (OK, the Rhumba.)

    • @MrQbenDanny
      @MrQbenDanny Před 8 lety +1

      Please provide the list of top ballet masters, choreographers, and teachers the soviets sent to Cuba. Azari Plisetsky we know of, I look forward to reading your list!

    • @gordonackerman4105
      @gordonackerman4105 Před 8 lety

      +MrQbenDanny. Sadly, I cannot compile a list, Mr.Q., because I do not recall their names and I do not believe I ever knew their names nor, I gather, did you. But because I am probably older than you (85) I recall vividly the Soviet/Cuban period when a great many Soviet ballet professionals were sent to Cuba to train Cubans - this was widely reported in the American press at the time. Perhaps they were hidden in ICBMs or missile silos, or even in warheads.

    • @MrQbenDanny
      @MrQbenDanny Před 8 lety +1

      +Gordon Ackerman LOL! HAHAHA! The soviets hid many things. I recall vividly the occupation of the missiles as they passed in front of my house. But back to ballet. "Russia is the cradle of ballet" it is a phrase I have often written and stand by. In fact Mr.A, The Russian influence in Cuban ballet goes way further back than Soviet Union. By the 60's the Cuban School of Ballet had already been noted and on the record by Fernando Alonso and can be appreciated by the glorious Giselle of 1963 production that starred Alicia Alonso and Azari Plisetsky. Every one in the film is Cuban. The Russian school is indeed the most important in the Cuban School, next comes the Italian school with the quick batterie and petite allegro. The great Russian teaching in Cuban ballet are the emigres that fled the communists and brought their gifts to the west. Among them are Alexandra Fedorova who was Alicia's favorite and helped shape her style, Obukhov, Dmitry Romanoff, and of course George Balanchine who was influential with the Old Russian Imperial style and Asaf Messerer (Plisetsky uncle )were of great importance to shaping the Cuban style particularly in the virtuosity and power of men's training and Soviet Union connection. Plisetsky brought this to Cuba along with being Alicia's partner and helpful in shaping the cuban style but really Cuba owes also to the French School neatness, Danish, Italia (Cecchetti), and English port de bras. But I will always be loyal to the Russian school, as a student in America, my favorite teachers were always Russian and I particularly love the usage of the back in the epaulment (shoulder movement ). They were Maria Svoboda, Valentina Pereyslavic, Igor Schuezzoff, and the great Igor Youskevitch. Can you let us know what great ballet performances you saw? Did you see Ulanova?

    • @gordonackerman4105
      @gordonackerman4105 Před 8 lety

      +MrQbenDanny. You are ill-informed. Russia most assuredly wasn't the "cradle of ballet" or anything like it. Ballet is a 200 % French invention, though the first ballerina to dance en pointe was Italian. The French stole it from the Italians and the Russians stole it from the French. Today, however, ballet may be deemed Russia's "national art " - every little Russian girl dreams of becoming a ballerina.The rest of your historical assertions I cannot comment on. Informatively, I was the co-founder and co-director of one of the largest classical ballet schools in Northern Europe, with 430 students - the "Ackerman Ballet Studio" in Helsinki, Finland. Several of our girls went on to professional careers with major European companies. I don't know what "LOL! HAHAHA! means. Rather don't message me again. Thank you

    • @MrQbenDanny
      @MrQbenDanny Před 8 lety

      +Gordon Ackerman Why so angry Mr Ackerman? The truth is the truth whether you want to believe it or not it's still the truth. Russia IS the cradle of ballet, look at the history books. As for your evolution of ballet analysis it is unworthy of you a professional man who ran a prestigious academia in Finland to use the word stolen. I look at it differently kind sir. Ballet was born in Italy, the French adopted it and the Russians blessed it. Clearly respect and recognition should be paid to someone like you who brought the art of ballet to Finland a country not commonly associated with the form, and according to your statements with success and prized students. It would be of great interest to the world balletomanes to get to know you and your legacy. No need for anger. As for LOL it means laughing out loud, your cylo,missiles comment was funny. I hope you change your mind and let us know about the Ackerman spirit and your life in ballet.

    It is a shame that such splendid dancing has to take place to the horrible, tone-deaf sounds coming out of that orchestra pit. Great dancing to the worst orchestra I have heard in a many, many years. Shame on them.

      +Ignacio Martínez-Ybor. I believe it's the instruments that disturb you, not the musicians. When this video was made, Cuba was in much worse shape than it's in now. They couldn't afford top grade instruments.

    • @gordonackerman4105
      @gordonackerman4105 Před 8 lety +5

      +Ignacio Martinez-Ybor. Your critique is unfair. Cuba is a congenitally poor country - it has always been poor. It is in better shape under Castro than it was under the previous, awful administrations. Castro introduced universal, free, good-quality health care and excellent primary and secondary education -that's UNESCO's opinion as well as mine. Cuba has no drugs, no crime, no illegal weapons. As for the orchestra, I agree - it's awful. Probably they can't afford first-class instruments. But the playing is good, I'd say.
