I love the idea of Drogon as The Stallion Who Mounts The World. I never considered that the Dothraki would respect the hell out of someone who could ride a dragon, that they would see it as a mega-horse.
Like dany said in the first book the horse eats but the dragons eats all including horses alike.
The Quote about The Stallion Who Mounts The World illustrates another glaring way the show got it wrong. To Dany bells are symbolic of Dothraki pride and victory. The sound of bells would not have triggered her to go insane!

Alexey Grigoruk unless finishing TWOW gets him on track so he knows how to finish I don’t think it’ll happen. We were five years between books now ten. After ADwD he used to joke how his wife would say this will end up as eight books. Obviously that stopped being funny in a major way about five years ago.
Besides he already said he’s going to start with other projects as soon as winds of winter is finished, like fire and blood, wild cards, maybe dunk and egg. There will be the TV show and you know how poor George gets distracted by that sort of thing.
Personally I can’t believe he didn’t say “I’m finishing all of ice and fire before anything else.”
For real, I might just read Dany's chapters first and then go back and read the rest of the book when TWOW comes out (jk it would ruin the storyline)
After the show I had felt like the story died. For the first time in years I felt nothing about asoiaf. Then, I reread it and am excited again. I have a feeling that what is coming will be worth the wait.
My reread last year had me in tears anytime Arya or bran chapters came up (especially the earlier books). Gods GRRM is so good a writer. If I die before WOW comes out, I'll be supersad in the afterlife

i think the one for death is referring to the vision she of "A tall lord with copper skin and silver-gold hair stood beneath the banner of a fiery stallion, a burning city behind him: I think this is a vision of “days that never were” as this vision comes in the exact order of the prophecies. It also includes "Viserys screamed as the molten gold ran down his cheeks and filled his mouth" and "Rubies flew like drops of blood from the chest of a dying prince, and he sank to his knees in the water and with his last breath murmured a woman’s name"
aka these are 3 fires she must light within herself, not literal fires. She must the fire that Viserys once had, that of taking the iron throne. She must light the fire her son would have had, the one who mounts the world. and the fire of her Rhaegar, this is the fire of the prince who was promised. She must light the fires of her dead loved ones within herself.
It is metaphorical for what she must do, something so far in the books, she has been too scared or reluctant to do.
I do have a theory that the House of the Undying is heavily symbolic and sprinkled with truth and untruths. One strong evidence is that how she sees rhaegar's death is not how Ned and Robert say it happened. Cause Robert and Rhaegar fought on horseback until the hammer knocked him off onto his back and a hit that can cave your chest in makes it unlikely you could speak. So what she saw is how SHE thinks he died, and when she saw the vision of him "looking" at her or the one with her face in the visor is exactly your take. Its giving her strength or "fire" for her to follow her destiny as a targaryen. I think in some way the shade of the evening can get you "high" enough for a higher plane like melisandre's fire for example, but the problem is that its heavily inspired by your conciousness and memories with sprinkles of the future in there.
Drogon is, in a sense, the son of Dany and Drogo, even a symbolic reincarnation of Drogo. So, Drogon being the Stallion That Mount the World makes perfect sense. Khal Drogon. I love the sound of that. If the series is never finished, your predictions will be my canon.
Not drogon but Daenerys, Drogon is the mount.
I'm not sure if there has ever been a book that was so highly anticipated that its fans speculated about all conceivable branches the story could go into.
Maybe 2020 will finally be the year where we will find out for real. Thanks for keeping my ASOIAF passion burning guys.
The last HP book maybe. It was different though because JK is like the anti George. Books came out on a schedule like clockwork, seems to have had the whole story or enough of the story figured out right from the beginning so it’s cohesive.
So we didn’t have to have this endless speculation about if the book was coming out or when at all. Just good old anticipation lol

c8 i won’t disagree there. Much more complex with details and characters.
But I’m not sure that explains these levels of delay. There’s more complex stories, then there’s letting the story spiral out of control. Then being distracted by “distractions” like TV shows and public appearances. That’s something else entirely.
Ideally, George would’ve stayed on some schedule, though slower of course. And he has a staff. Once I heard about the staff I stopped having sympathy for him. I hope he realizes how much of a shame it would be to not finish at all. Much worse than finishing them hastily IMO
LML I know George has said he avoids looking at fan opinions/theories at this point but I hope he runs across at least one of your vids at some point so he can see that there's fans who take his complex integration of symbolism seriously. I for sure really love how he has that in his books and it's part of what makes asoiaf so addicting. I know he for sure wants us to be discussing and picking up on his symbolic clues.

What is also amazing about Dany's relationship with the Dothraki is that the Dothraki began to be an incredible force in Essos immediately after the fall of Valyria, dominating and pillaging lots of territories all througout the century of blood. Dany being the Targaryen that probably has the most resemblance with Old Valyria makes perfect sense thematically in the sense that she will regain control over the Dothraki ALSO in a historical scale of the relationship between Valyria and the Dothraki - as it is said that the Dothraki in Valyrian times were afraid of the dragons.
I heard a theory that Dany is the Stallion because she's been uniting the peoples of the world (mostly in Essos). In Essos there aren't nearly as many factions as there used to be. A lot of the Free Cities have gathered at Volantis in a huge unified military force, if she becomes the Khal of all the Dothraki, she'll have united another 100,000. The Yunkai'i are united against her, the Iron Born are (maybe?) on her side. Qarth is against her. There are probably about 100 million people in Essos and she's united everyone West of the Bone Mountains into, like, 8 factions, as opposed to the approximate 100 million factions from 4 years earlier. They're shaky at best, but they are there. Most are against her, but at least it's a start.
Uniting in 8 factions isn't necessarily better then it was before. During worldwar2 you could say there were 2 united factions and that didn't turn out so good.
I actually think it could be Danny too. I also believe it could be Jon, though uniting the people would probably come much later. He's already uniting the wildlings and the north as Jon Snow. I imagine Aegon Targaryen would unite most of the rest.
The Dothraki appreciate power, Jhaqo will have no choice but to concede to her dragon with his khalassar. She will become Khaleesi again this way.

They did have “several days” with George at his house discussing the ending according to what George said on 60 minutes. But, we don’t know how much of that they actually went with.

I wonder if George led them into choosing to make her like that as a trial balloon to see how audiences reacted without him having to commit to it in the "real" version? He's just wiley enough to do something like that.
WT Keeton it’s hard for me to believe that much thought went into it. Knowing now that was the intention you can definitely find tons of foreshadowing of it. After the three betrayals she will be getting a little more like Maegor. She thinks maybe all three have already happened or 1-2 at least when really none have happened yet

“When mountains blow in the wind like leaves”. Maybe refers to the mother of the mountain scene that could possibly happen. Dany and Drogon will be be turning Dothraki leaders and their bloodriders to ash to the point that it seems like they are blowing away off of the mountain like leaves.maybe?
If the Dothraki accept Dany as their kalesi after some symbolic ascension of the mother of mountains event,

The artwork you have been using for this series is phenomenal. I like how you cite the artists in the video. About the Dosh Khaleen, I think some will choose to stay behind to continue their traditional roles and Dany will accept this. Some will want to follow Dany back to Meereen where she could offer them positions on some kind of regional council. Meereen is well positioned to be the capital of her realm in Essos after she takes down the Triarchy in Volantis.
right on Tony, someone else suggested the idea of the Dosh Khaleen helping to rule Meereen as well and I think it makes *a ton* of sense

I might not have loved ALL the story lines but by God, they did bring us the spectacle. I am somewhat sad because we won’t see the rest of the story on screen. I'm thinking Danys return to Mereen will be initiated by the Dragonbinder event--the dragons seem to be able to sense Dany at a distance, so it's no stretch this could go all three ways (dragon-dany dragon-dragon dany-dragon)
Drogon clearly isn't obeying her, but I think he's going to take wing for Mereen once Viserion and Rhaegal end up in trouble--probably right after she deals with the Dosh Kaleen [Maybe we'll even see a(nother) mountain blow like leaves in the wind]
Maybe Dragonbinder can act as far as the Dothraki sea--Euron is still in Westeros after all, and we know it's his very plan to seize the dragons with the horn, yet he's comfortable sending it away with Victarion

I wonder if Dany might send the Dothraki ahead to Volantis to meet her there once she sails from Meereen. I have a feeling Dany and her followers will stop there before arriving in Westeros, the set up for it is definitely present in ADWD.

Also, do you think the fleet from Volantis will be friends or foes? There's a quote from Moqorro which I think suggests that the Tiger faction won the election in Volantis and so the fleet sailing for Meereen are allies.

While watching this I had a revelation. The Note that Aegon the first received that made him so angry about his missing sister wife being lost in Dorne and then he swiftly flew to dragon stone and nobody can figure out why, well I think it was to compare the letter with other writing by her own hand. It would have matched and he would have recognized it but needed to know for sure. It makes me wonder what she wrote to him.

Lucifer means Lightbringer wow that is also a very cool option. I hate to admit this but I am kind of obsessed with these books. I have literally read them all three times and am on my 4th reread now. (I work front desk in a hotel and read a lot in downtime). My brother started reading them in the ‘90’s and got me hooked soon after.

I always thought The Mother of Mountains was a hollowed hill. Like after the Long Night humans emerged from the hill into a new world. Maybe they are sacrificing to a Heart Tree at the top of the hill?

Just wanna point out that the Dothraki culture is sort of based apon one strong leader and all the laws and traditions that they observe were likely set in place by a great khal. So in a sense the Dothraki culture is sort of set up to be easily changed or augmented depending on the will of the strongest khal

I agree that would make for an interesting prologue, but George has already said Jeyne Westerling will be featured in TWOW prologue. So that nixes the Dothraki idea. I'd like a Dothraki POV throughout Winds so we get an inside perspective on Dany in Vaes Dothrak. Sort of like Barristan provides in Meereen.

@@manofhonor1685 Yes, it was in an interview. Granted George didn't specify that it was Jeyne's viewpoint, only that she would be featured in it. So she may not die, but the character who sees her could. He kept it vague. If you Google 'Jeyne Westerling winds prologue' or something like that you should find it.

The is a tradition that eating the heart of your enemy gives your their power. What Dany ate was the heart of a stallion imbuing her with a male energy among other benefits. While Drogon does indeed mount the world, Dany with her stallion's heart within her, mounts Drogon. More symbolism, more dots connected.
I wonder if D&D bombed seasons 5,7-8 on purpose it just seems impossible anyone could drop the ball THAT bad.
i just want to see dany come back to mereen with all of the dothraki, sandwiching some of the strongest forces in essos, and just sweeping west conquering the continent. aegon come again and all that but big and better. shit she'd prob snag volantis and with that essos is basically done already

Speaking real honestly, when I read then heard ‘who mounts’, I thought it was sexually. A stallion doesn’t ride another stallion. It does that to ‘spread’ its children. Daenerys is said to be the mother of dragons.... far fetched and kinda corny and straightforward but it’s always what comes to mind.
