- Originally, I made this compilation and posted it to CZcams for myself so I could have it in the background as I work...I never expected it to get so many views. Thank you! I hope you truly enjoy.
-----------------------------
The track listing is in the comments, thank you to those who shared.
About this track: I went through all of Adam Young's scores and compiled the more quiet, generally non-percussive, pieces. I also edited it with the hope of seamless transitions to help for a greater and more natural listening experience.
All editing on Cubase 6
All credit and copyright to the great Adam Young.

Bro! Thank you for doing this!
:D
Thank you very much. These tracks are what I've been looking for.
absolute legend
Wow thank you so much! I haven't been through all the ayoungscores songs yet, so this is extremely useful. Thanks for adding this bro!
Adam really does have a select of familiar progressions that he really likes to include in his music. If you listen to his music in its entirety, you'll hear familiar cadences all throughout it. He has this habit of wanting to spice in his previous works into later works in a different medium and it's very bittersweet but somehow still unique in its own right.
I know right! If I may nerd out a bit...
He uses the dorian and mixolydian modes a lot which aren't that common in mainstream music. Whenever he does music in the traditional major mode he often emphasizes the 6th note of the scale which gives it a more tasteful and slightly melancholic feel. I freakin' love it. That is all.
@@polibot1 I love your knowledge!!!
This is so true. I listen to music on Spotify shuffle or radio sometimes, and sometimes I'll think a song is particularly interesting or beautiful, and it will turn out to be Adam or one of his side projects. My ear is so attuned to those "familiar cadences" you speak of. I have listened to his discography in its entirety over the years. :) Your comment made me happy to know I'm not alone in noticing these small signatures of him within his music and across time.
Thank you...
Ah yes, this is very typical of musicians and composers to do. As a musician/composer, I too am guilty of "re-using" some of my favorite progressions and styles. But we like what we're familiar with and what we think sounds good :p I agree he makes it work, and he really has some lovely creations
The Adam Young/ OC community never ceases to impress me with its compassion and creativity. Thank you for making this compilation for us :)
That is the best username I have ever seen to this day.
Nice
My dog recently had surgery and I played this for him so he could be calm. I think he really likes it.
We all love Adam Young and his projects for reasons that are so personal to us, that are his little signatures of music that appear in different ways throughout his many different songs and projects. However, I have noticed that whether the world and music industry realize it, or put a finger on it, Adam has directly created the world, music, and music industry into what it is today.
I have noticed this on so many levels, I would like to share just a few of them.
Of course, when Fireflies came out, it hit the nail on the head with a sound that the world was craving, but hadn't been able to hear yet. It was an electronic yet percussive synth arpeggio and synth "pluck". This is important, since it wasn't well defined before Fireflies. The synth arp you hear is not only a neat sounding synth arp, but it has a music box sound to it, with percussive sounds with each note. The percussive sounds doubled with the synth plucks have become ubiquitous -- but nothing existed like that before fireflies
A vocal production technique was also introduced in Fireflies, which was the use of the "telephone effect" on the lead vocal over the entire length of the song. Before Adam used this (which is an EQ "bell curve", or simply using both a low pass and a high pass filter at the same time), is something that the industry pre-fireflies not only didn't use, but would have been appalled by even the idea of using. Before fireflies, vocals were produced to be dynamic with emphasized lows and highs. After fireflies, nearly every vocal produced in today's industry uses the telephone effect. That mixing technique has been used in Justin Bieber's vocals tracks in everything from Purpose on.
The use of organic recordings to produce kicks, snares, hats and other percussive elements. Some of the biggest OC fans in the professional music production industry are are other EDM producers and DJ's. Not long after Adam Young showed the world how he layers random recordings to make unique beats -- this technique suddenly showed up everywhere. Most notably, the way Grey said they use the same technique. In a world of EDM, only the best sounding electronic samples were used. After Adam Young's influence, many EDM artists are producing with noises they recorded themselves. Adam showed his own percussive layering when he showed how to make sounds out of shaking a leather jacket, taking a bite out of an apple, hitting random things he found in his garage, etc.
More recently, Adam released his Cinematic album. In this, he referenced a lot of his life, which included a lot of his "growing up" years. These themes were branded and expressed with retro pictures and vibes. Scenes from the late 80's and 90's were used a lot in Cinematic. And like nearly everything else, the music industry started doing the same thing not long after. All of a sudden, the music industry was flooded with "90's vibes" that did not exist before Cinematic
With Cinematic, Adam released his 18-track album in "reels" of 3-4 songs every month or so. Then, many more artists started releasing their albums in chunks of 3-4 songs rather than entire albums -- that had certainly not been done before, at least at a mainstream or recognizable level
Many of the music industries leaders have outright said their music started by trying to make music similar to Owl City when they first started. One example is LAUV, who made hits like, "I like Me Better" and "There's No Way" said Owl City was his direct inspiration when he first started making music on MySpace back in the late 2000's.
One interesting sound he made as part of his Corduroy Road score was the use of an old upright felted piano, with a very intimate sounding sustain pedal. That is the piano you hear with the little fuzzy percussive noises layers with each note played on the piano. Again, he takes existing sounds (piano notes) and layers percussive elements with it. The felted piano, which was used beautifully in Corduroy Road is now ubiquitous and one of the most created and utilized VST / virtual instruments on the market
In 2016 when Adam made his scores projects, he took events in history and explored them through music. This had been done before in a sense, but not in the style or way he had made it -- with each album and standalone exploration of these events through creative music. There have been several rebound musicians who have now produced instrumental albums focused on a single event in a storytelling way the same way Adam did with his scores.
I put this on my "skewl chill" youtube playlist and listen to this whole compilation whenever it turns on. Right now it's helping me through 2 long history courses. Big thanks from a senior in hs struggling to graduate!
I hope your post graduation life has been wonderful so far :)
@@infantryhawk Thank you. 🥹 I'm very glad I decided to graduate (I dropped out and then changed my mind haha) but wow, adult life kinda smacks you out of nowhere. I definitely have it better than some. Thanks for checking in!
This is truly astounding, perfect study music, especially for physics. The only thing that is lacking is the tracklist. Otherwise, a good job.
I've listened to the whole thing all the way through about six or seven times already since I found it a few months ago... It's been extremely helpful to have a two hour mix of some of Adam's most calming music to help with curing my insomnia, getting my homework done, or just improving my imagination as I read or write stories. Thank you very much for putting this all together!
Thank you! Glad it's helped you so much!
Absolutely!

1:35:47 I hoped this song would be in the mix... my favourite track
thankyou.
adam always brought me to safest place
This music is relaxing and amazing while staying at home during these uncertain times. Thank you for putting this together.
This is an amazing collection dude, thank you for the work you put into finding and editing it all of this together
Whoever disliked this... Why??
I still go back and listen to this often lol
Probably accidental
Superb Nick I still wish Owl City can perform a song for this year
Me too :/ can't wait till his next album
Superb Nick Wait....WHAT!!! I thought that Cinematic was his last album?!
I really like this! Thank you Adam. You are the best!!! Also, thank you for your Christian music also.
We are all incredibly thankful for the uniqueness, calmness, and altogether experimental and creative endeavors that Adam Young has put into each of these pieces, and dozens, if not hundreds more, and his ability to capture our imaginations and give us new worlds to mentally explore through his music.
However we must also thank the creator of this playlist! Hard work was also put into making a playlist that is not only beautiful in nature, but seems to really flow from one piece to another. Without dedicated people like Polibot, we wouldn't have such beautiful playlists so readily available. So thank you both for this power combo! Absolutely loved every second throughout, and I couldn't have done it without ya.
thank you for the kind words! I really appreciate it :) Glad people such as yourself like the playlist
So I actually listened to ALL OF IT without stopping once! And it is amazing!🤩🤩 Perfect ending as well👍
Super honored you noticed the ending! That ending was very intentional =)
I've been an Owl City fan for quite a long time, so imagine my surprise and happiness when I came across this video. I've only heard a few of these, so I have to make some coffee, sit down, and listen to this thoroughly. Thanks for uploading it 👌🏻✨
32:40 The underwater feel is amazing!
Adam you are so gifted, your songs/sounds heal me and make me happy when the day is saying I should be miserable.
Thanks Will for sharing...Adam is a legend.
I'm not really passionate about too many artists. Couple mainstream. DC Talk mainly Peter Furler from the Newsboys and Adam Young. I really like the creativity and depth. Definitely a artist and composer ⚔️
Man this evokes the same feelings when I first listened it in 2016
ok but 24:17 SLAPS. Also I didn't even know Adam Young scores existed till now so THANK YOU.
This list of ambient music from Adam Young is fantastic! I have listened to it countless times and I never get tired of it! His music is wonderful and unique. Thank you! :)
This is awesome. Thanks Will.
Magnific work dude
THANKS EXACTLY WHAT I NEEDED!
Thank you so much. All of my favorite beats from the albums in one place. Totally needed this for calming down and editing photos.
Im not the autor of the channel but hey you're welcome!
Thank you so much for this video :)
this is really well made.
That is, indeed, a masterpiece!
Amazing. Simply amazing.

This is exceptionally well put together. Great choice of tracks and great blending between them.
I'll definitely get a lot of plays out of this. Thank you for making it.

This is what I have been looking for
Absolute masterpiece. Thank you so much for taking the time to put this together and sharing with us!!!
Adam's music has helped me in an immeasurable manner. Thanks for this wonderful compilation.
wow, thank you!
Thank you for this, now i can study with in!
26:20 anybody know this score?! It’s incredible. Honestly some of Adams finer work I think will always be in his score collections.
It's 'The Thunderhead' off his album 'The Spirit of St. Louis'.
One of my favorites of his!
It's Thunderhead and it reminds me of the movie "Mr. Bean's Holiday" and "80 Days Around the World"..
I didn’t know if this existed when I searched for it, but I’m thankful you delivered
I love Adam Young’s music.Thank you so much for spending the time to put this together for all of us to enjoy. It’s beautiful!
its 2021 and adam is with is us keeping us nestled in his amazing works. thanks for this.
Thanks for this!
Hi :)
I am a really big fan of Owl City and I would like to thank you for the two hour video/track. It's amazing!! So relaxing🤗
Wow... Thank you!
Maybe I'm speaking just for myself, but I'm waiting tbe next part of this
I adore Owl City's music so much, but haven't listened to all of his work. I loved his Ocean Eyes album, it has my top favorite songs ever. I had an epiphany that the instrumental parts in his songs alone are so beautiful, he must have created some instrumental only, ambient pieces. And sure enough, I found this post. You have definitely delivered. Thank you so much. And thanks to Adam Young for his gorgeous work.
I love this! Wish I found it sooner. It's helping me write my dissertation for university! ☺️
You're a genius!
Absolutely brilliant...🌚
I had no idea adam made this music!!!
28:10 Nearer My God To Thee. Almost made me cry...
Smooth.
I miss owl city so much, I now covid just hit us so that's why a lot of musicians are not touring. But I feel almost as if Adam quit completely from making anymore Owl City or Port Blue. :(
After the BlackLivesMatter issue he exile himself from internet kind of. Was pretty awful and pity, 'cause Adam almost never talk 'bout his opinions (like Taylor before Reputation/Lover eras) so, the level of trashdumbs attacking him probably make him want to dash off from any kind of spotlight.
Sad that He took it personally .. many an eye and attitude was opened.. It makes moving forward easier. 😁👍💜💙💚♾⚛☮☯️⚕✡☪️♂️♀️✅
Perfect
Begging you to include a track list with time stamps!! or even just a chronological track list :)
Thanks! And yes, it is on my to-do list. I need to resurrect my old computer with Windows 7 to do it...but eventually i will...lol
@@polibot1 haha I miss windows 7. Thank you soooo much!! :D its a great mix!
37:47 reminds me of his song Galaxies.
And 39:58 is so cute sounding : ))
I also really like 51:37
Everything will be owl right! :)
Can you please post a tracklist with timestamps? It's been a few years since this was posted and I would love to know where everything is from. Would love to see more compilations from you!
Just uploaded a comment on it, should be pinned :)
Love 😻
This is Awesome.. !!!! Did he compose this ? Or was it a collaboration of people..??
It's all Adam ;)
Love this!! great job combining everything smoothly
Thanks! And it's 'Lifeboats' off the RMS Titanic album
I love this compilation sooo much, I put it on when I work cause it's so nice and helps me focus!
I am wondering what the piece at 7:35 is cause I love it so much, if anyone knows pleaseee
Thanks bro! That means a lot. Glad it helps you work. As for the track, it's "Captain Edward Smith" from 'RMS Titanic' album.
@@polibot1 Thank you sooo much!! Keep doing the amazing job!!
Hello, can I ask what the track starting at 53:10 is please? That starts with "and out come the stars". I tried looking for it through the scores but couldn't find it. Thank you :)
It's 'March to the Sea' from the Corduroy Road album. The part at 53:10 starts about two thirds through.
🦉🎶 X..
This is awesome! Thank you! What's the name of the song starting at 49:16?
It's "Half a Million Tons of Granite" off the album Mount Rushmore
@@polibot1 Thank you!
🦉Da Da Da Da 🎶 X..
Does anyone know where I can find more music like at 20:16? Or at least what the instrument used is? It’s short but super relaxing..
Hey, so that track is called 'ocean camp' off of 'the endurance'. The instrument sounds like a very processed flute/synth sound played on the keyboard. Nothing comes to mind about where you can find that particular instrument elsewhere in music, but if I hear something I'll let you know. That short bit is one of my favorite pieces as well.
Will Murley thank you again! I’ll have to look into it. I listen to this soundtrack while I fall asleep, this part also really stood out to me. 😊
Anyone know what the beautiful music box style one at 46:15 is please? Thank you :)
Hey, so that specific piece comes from the track 'Kennesaw Mountain' off of the 'Corduroy Road' album. It's about two thirds through the track.
Can you put the track list on Apple Music? Thank you!
9:27 sounds like "Forever and Always".. I really wonder sometimes if theres hidden messages in Adam's music, like a giant internet puzzle waiting to be solved.
What starts around 51:42?
I found it! It's March To The Sea from Corduroy Road.
Thank you I was looking for that one! So comforting
could you please tell what's the track name at 1:39:00 ? Thanks for putting it together
Hey! It’s “lookout duty” from his titanic album
What's the song at 23:40 in between Ocean Camp and The Thunderhead?
So I'm so sorry but I could not find it. I clicked through all his albums. It must be a very short transitional piece for me to have missed it. I'll dig up my old computer sometime and open the file and get it to you later this week.
That’s The Hillary Step :)
Does anybody know where the piece playing the first 30 seconds is from? I can’t seem to find?
It is Shackleton from The Endurance but in a different version I haven't hear before but an amazing one! or maybe I haven't noticed or forgot 😅🤷♂️
Hey Chester! It's from the song "The March" off his Endurance album. It starts around the 3:35 mark.
could you perhaps uload in better quality? thanks
Pity on those who dislikes purity music..
I have a question. Are these just scores, or are they scores to actual movies/films etc?
They’re not actually for any film, just a score as if it was for something though.
@@polibot1 I gotcha. Gosh I would love to hear these featured in things though!
hello what scoare is at 1 hour and 16? its so pretty
1:16:40 - Reinforcements [Omaha Beach]
1:16:56 - The Fairchild [Miracle in the Andes]
Anyone notice March to the sea sounds a LOT like the meadowlark from coco moon??
Where did all this come from? Is he writing movie scores?!
A few years back, Adam released 8 or so score albums. Though there are no movies to go with his scores, each album is written as if it's the score for a movie about a historical event.
@@polibot1 He released one album a month from February to December 2016 so there are actually 11 scores :)
its 6/5/2022. 10:01PM looking at the sky with the moon smiling. once in a life time comment that im the only one knows! goodluck human.🙃🙃🙃
What's the name of the song starting at 39:02?
It's the last 45 seconds or so of the song 'Elephant Island' off Adams album 'The Endurance'
What is the name of the track starting ~ 1:48:50? thanks!
It's 'Atlanta' off the album Corduroy Road
@@polibot1 whoops, I meant the one at 1:49:39. Thought they were the same song!

Hey, it's the end of the song The March on Adams The Endurance album. It starts around the 3:30 mark. Also, for this compilation video I made, I extended the track to make it longer--at least the end of the video where I play it again.
@@polibot1 ok thank you!
What is the song at 39:50??? And why is it only 1 min long?!
Hey, so it's the end of the song 'Titan' off his Voyager album. It starts around the 3 minute mark.
