    I think Sanwitch is defensible, for 2 reasons: 1) If you use Sangan and Witch on the field as Fusion Material (and they both make it to the GY), you can activate both of those cards’ effects. 2) That name is too perfect! I can’t hate a card with such a perfect name.

Two completely dead cards and while the third one is good, you can't even play it because losing Sangan means you will never be able to activate Polimerization and Defusion ever again).

    I really wish they would remake the gate guardian card along with the three gods that compose it, like seriously make they all level 4 or special summon themselves if one of them is on the field, give gate guardian extra deck status and let it block 3 attacks a turn or make it immune to destruction or something

    • @lpfan4491
      @lpfan4491 Před 2 lety +4

      That would essencially be closer to the original intention too. How they worked in the anime(And I assume manga, never read it) was that no tribute-rules were set in place yet and they were unusable until all three hit the field and then they become gate guardian.
      So having them all be level4 and extradeck into GG(nice initials) would just be a modern redesign that is potentially very powerful if done correctly.

    Anime Armetyle has the effect.
    Once per turn you can give control of the card to your opponent until the end phase. And banish all monsters they control.
    The reason for that is because that's how Jesse/Yubel dealed with Adrian Geko Exodia cards. Exodus as anime Exodius is can not be destroyed by card effects and anime is notorious for lacking non battle removal

    With the Sacred Beast support, Armityle is way easier to get out with his fusion spell which lets you use Sacred Beasts from the hand, field or GY and it makes you take no battle damage from attacks involving Armityle. Plus their field spell Fallen Paradise (which can be searched with Chaos Summoning Beast) prevents Sacred Beasts and Armityle from being targeted/destroyed by card effects, plus you get a draw two once per turn if you control a Sacred Beast or Armityle.
    It's still not amazing since having two Sacred Beasts out with Awakening of the Sacred Beats locks your opponent out of activated monster effects, and you have access to Raviel's Shimmering Scraper which doubles his current attack and lets you attack each of your opponents monsters. So tributing his token and using Shimmering turns Raviel into the 10,000 beatstick that Armityle is and you get to keep the protection from Awakening. Plus it recycles back into your hand by just tributing one monster so you can just keep using it every turn if you can keep bringing it back.

    Also, it's very easy to summon and way more rewarding than the rest of the monsters on the list, since Armityle is actually decent. A 10k beater can get over pretty much anything, and your opponent would normally be quite low on resources if you're using Armityle as your backup plan, meaning they could be in a situation where they can't realistically out it before you are able to attack for game

    Steam Gyroid is one of the highest Atk monsters that can be summoned off Magical Scientist, so it has that going for it on tournaments where you are allowed to play him and pre-errata Catapult Turtle.
    Mirage Knight can be combined with Artifact Lancea and Imperial Iron Wall to keep it on the field indefinitely. You are better off using Crusadia Avramax, Crystal Wing Syncro Dragon or even Divine Serpent Geh, but if you want to make this card work in a Dark Magician deck (wich by the way is a completely terrible deck that has no redeeming qualities whatsoever and you should NOT play to begin with), there you go.

In the anime he had an extra effect that let you give him to your opponent until the end of the turn, then during the End Phase he would just banish every monster on the field except for him before returning to your field. If that effect sounds familiar, it's because it is Phantom of Fury's. Yep, for some reason Konami only printed Armityle's first effect when he was brought over to the physical game and it wasn't until PHRA when he got the second half in the form of Phantom of Fury. Maybe they thought it would've been too powerful for the time if it had its full effects, but let's not forget, this thing was turned into a contact fusion (thus removing the need for Dimension Fusion Destruction at the time) and yet summoning it would've still been borderline impossible.

    Interestingly, not only was Dark Flare Knight good in Yu-Gi-Oh Reshef of Destruction (the last game in the original Duel Monsters series of video games, which had gameplay that was different from the OCG with the exception of the "Expert" games), Dark Flare Knight was busted. In that game it was a main deck monster (as all monsters were) with the effect that when it was sent to the graveyard it would immediately special summon a Mirage Knight to your field (from outside the deck), which could be accomplished by simply discarding the card (you can discard cards for free). Mirage Knight only made it better, as its effect was that at the start of the opponents turn, it would tribute itself to special summon a Dark Magician and a Flame Swordsman to your field (once again from outside the deck). While OCG/TCG Dark Flare Knight more or less works the same as the RoD card (albeit more restrictive and as a fusion monster), the horrendously bad effect of Mirage Knight in the OCG/TCG makes it unplayable outside of extra deck mill fodder in a deck that doesnt use extra deck monsters. Staple card in videogame, basically useless in the OCG/TCG. What a fall.

    My favourite thing about things like fusionist was back in the real early early days of the irl game/pc games that there was a time the 100 extra attack was crucial when your best cards got sent to the GY.

    In modern formats I can really only see sanwhich being used to double trigger effects since the fusion process would send both from the field to the graveyard. Of course only after we were able to bring them back from card effects just to bring out more search materials and then we can use sanwhich as xyz/syncro/link material. But the whole cost vs worth thing makes out of out come is a huge consideration to not or do. Depends on the how much confusion you want to give your opponet during the duel.

    I posted a fix for Red Eyes Metal, where I replaced its effect with this:
    "If you control a "Red-eyes" monster equipped with Metalmorph, you can special summon this card from your hand or deck"
    Essentially free 3 special summons and people said it still wouldn't see play

    Armityle is very easy to bring out in a dedicated sacred beast deck. In fact the other beasts can easily be summoned or positioned for the fusion.

    Thinking back on it. Red eyes black metal dragon is beneficial SOLELY for the fact that if red eyes gets targeted, you can special summon metal dragon from your deck if you were to lose red eyes. It’s not MUCH but still a fairly useful tech for it cause it gives you advantage in the end.

    Number F0: Utopic Future - Future Slash. It can be summoned over a Utopia Monster or the original Utopic Future, and it’s effect is to gain ATK proportional to the number of Utopias in the grave. Could get high in the late game in a Utopia deck, but it’s usually better to keep the original Utopic Future or summon a different Utopia monster using the original Utopia.

    Two observations on Red eye black metal dragon:
    1. If REBD has tons of support and can be brought Out easily, why not give the spot to Metalzoa?
    2. In the waking the dragons anime, Joey summoned REBD and has it equipped with metalmorph, and actually kept it around instead of summon that crappy card

    Here is an idea:
    Best monsters from each attribute (light, dark, etc.) and then rank the best among them from 1-10 (maybe include a clause that the attribute needs to be the reason that they saw competitive play, or maybe not, as would highly depend on how similar each list would be to another previous video)

    The joke about Armityle is that phantom of fury is not a retrain at all, it's the second half of its intended gameplay.
    Effect of the original anime-card as listed on the wiki:
    "This card cannot be Special Summoned, except with "Dimension Fusion Destruction". This card cannot be destroyed by battle. Once per turn, if this card is in face-up Attack Position, this card can inflict 10,000 battle damage to 1 monster your opponent controls. During your Main Phase, you can give control of this card to your opponent. If you do, at the end of this turn, remove from play all other monsters on the field, then switch control of this card to its owner."
    Armityle was technically buffed in 3 ways when moved to the real game:
    -The 10000atk is not once per turn during battlestep anymore, it's automatic for the entire turn.
    -The intended fusioncard is not required anymore(You just banish without the card).
    -The intended fusioncard was given an actual beneficial effect(Before, it was just the banish to summon-effect that is printed on the TCG-monster.)
    Only the third buff is actually really good, the other two are minor consistencyfixes that don't really mean jack on their own. Why I am talking about this? Because it just feels like such an unnessesary redesign for no reason. Does anyone know if it would have been any sort of broken if it only got the buffs and left the literal cut in half at home? I'm really curious.

    Obviously, Fusionist lacks the hypnotizing tail of the Mystical Sheep #2, and Tyhone looks a lot sturdier than Mavelus.
    Seems sensible to me, lol.
    I wonder where the game would be, had they realised the more obscure card interactions from the original manga, which depended a lot on what the monsters actually were. (Were they some species with particular abilities, such as flying or diving? What could this allow them to do?
    The hierarchy of the god cards kind of belongs to this, too.)

    Try maybe either the top 10 Ancient Gear/Cyber Dragon (Machine monsters need some loving), or top 10 monsters that cannot be tributed to summon other monsters or something down those lines.

    So reading the comments - because I was already thinking along this line - you could technically OTK off of sanwitch before the erratas: IF you had Sangan and Witch of the Black Forest on the field at the same time, AND you had ALL 3 copies of polymerization and de-fusion that you could have in your deck in your hand at the same time, you could then fuse sangan and witch to summon sanwitch, sending both cards to the grave - which is actually a pretty way to trigger their effects without needing a battle - to add 2 pieces of Exodia to your hand, then repeat the process with de-fusion and polymerization until you have all 5 exodia pieces in hand. Super specific, way too hard setup for an OTK, but it should have been possible when all 3 cards were live before they started getting banned, unless de-fusion wasn't out yet... Just something that seemed pretty cool, and would make it noteworthy that Sanwitch didn't have an eff. Also I don't think very many cards in those days - besides thousand eyes restrict - were both fusion monsters and effect monsters...

    Sanwitch was actually a meta card for a while in glad beast decks. You send sangan to GY off of prisma's effect which would reveal sanwitch, then you use COTH to revive it and DDV to win the duel. It didn't come up often, but it was something nice to have once in a while.

  • @BelieveIt1051
    @BelieveIt1051 Před 2 lety

    Yeah, I was going to say, Sanwitch was basically made so Sangan and Witch of the Black Forest could be considered fusion material monsters, opening them up for more searches.

    I would love to see a new wave of Neon-Spacian monster who have a card like Mask Change (NEXt Change or something) that can be searched out and work as a substitute for NEX, and it works with attribute or something. And while they are that make cards that are worth it, because I think there is a cool idea in some card bound by the worst summoning conditions. I think the archetype could be good, or at least fun, if it gets good support. Maybe the new cards could have "always treated as a hero card" on it and just count as the original in the GY and on the field, which would make them a lot better already.

    Sanwitch came out during the time while Witch of the Black Forest was banned. She had been banned for at least 2 years prior already. So it was only ever able to come out by using Instant Fusion

    • @BLSoldier00
      @BLSoldier00 Před 2 lety

      Sanwitch has too high of a level for Instant Fusion (but not for Ready Fusion, which came out MUCH later). You were able to use a Fusion substitute in place of Witch while Sangan wasn't banned.

    Sanwitchs use is to enable fusion reserve
    Keeper of dragonic magic and
    Fusion deployment back when the extra deck wasn't as limited this really helped fusion reserve be more useful
