There's nothing wrong with another interpretation of a song. Piaf was a legend, and she sang the song brilliantly and unforgettably. But because someone sings the song in a different way it doesn't make them an infidel. Grow up, people.

Check the lyrics. The song isn't about leaving someone. It's about making a new start with someone, about building a pyre out of everything that was before, burning down your previous life for the sake of a new start. That fire needs to show.
It's all good and fine having your own version, but it needs to fit the song.

I agree. It can be sung soft in certain parts, but the "falsetto" parts do NOT work for me. It becomes too androgynous when it is a strong statement of pushing all the bad past behind you, and moving forward! This is a diluted version. I would love to hear Piero Barone (also, w/ the glasses, of IL VOLO) sing this!!

I like this version better...because it is different and unique. I think that this singer Olympe?, is able to transmit the specific time when after having suffered a bad experience in life and you are still hurt and sad, and emotionally destroyed, you finally decide to start all over again; but it is very hard for you to do so, because you are still in pain???. Could I say that Edith Piaf's version is very strong and positive because it's filling is about when someone is already recovered from the pain, and doesn't care about the past any more?... Now, that is the difference between both versions, but both of them are great. Thanks...
