@@dutdut2.059 nah I think he played a bit at first but it wasn’t his main position he played mostly at second and short but got moved to second because of peewee Reese
@@dutdut2.059 He was initially a first baseman his rookie season because the Dodgers already had an established 2nd baseman in Eddie Stanky who was also their lead-off hitter at the time. The following off season, the Dodgers traded Stanky but I can’t remember to what team it it was.
Watching this in slow mo, the catcher had his mitt hanging over home plate, as soon as Robinson slid onto the plate, the catcher drops his hand down and touches Robinson, so while it seems almost simultaneous, the catcher basically waited for Robinson to slide home before touching him, so he was safe. Good ass Umpire call for the time tbh
I think some of Robinson's finest moments or at the most impressive ones were times he didn't beat the hell out of the person or persons who were calling him names and insulting him personally. The man was a big, strong former football star and all around athlete who could have wiped the floor with some of the people who were on his case. Also, some of his most impressive sports records were in college. Have a look at what he did in college
Does saying Afro American make u feel less racist after saying something like “all black people are fast”? 😂 Edit: just busting your balls I don’t actually care or feel offended lol
Really cool footage. Funny how much hate he got back then when he carried the team on his back. Arguably their best player ever.
Definitely the best second baseman
@@goldwaterproductions not the best second baseman of all time
Seahawks News I thought he was a first baseman

He had such a weird yet beautiful swing
And talked like a dork who went to college
Yea. Perfect imperfection.
Legendary 42 Jackie Robinson
Damn he’s fast
sometimes the footage is sped up from these old games, but still, he was VERY fast
