You know what....I'm a lifelong Red Sox fan and I'll never be anything different. Was never in my life more proud of my fellow Fenway Faithful than I was that day and the ovation they gave #2. Very richly deserved too! All Red Sox fans had mad respect for Jeter throughout his career. He was a class act, and a tremendous talent. We all claimed to hate him, but that was because we wanted him wearing our uniform and not the pinstripes. I think every single member of Red Sox Nation secretly wanted him to be on Red Sox so bad. Him and Mo were the class of that era of Yankee baseball and both were thought highly of here in Boston. Just couldn't say it while they were active.

Yes he is the Michael Jordan of Baseball. 🙏🏽👍🏽

God I remember that last game at Yankee stadium, when I was born Jeter had been the starting Yankee shortstop for 2 years and I grew up watching all his games on tv and going to Yankee stadium with my dad and grandfather. I remember the Yankee bullpen blew the save and Baltimore tied the game and turning to my dad like “Jeter is due up 3rd in the 9th can you imagine if his last at bat is a walkoff...” then Gardner bunted Richardson to 2nd with Jeter up and boy I was jumping. Then the most classic Jeter basehit to right to end his final game on a walkoff! I was jumping out of my shoes, just a moment of such pure joy and extacy.

I was born in 1995. Derek Jeter started his baseball career with the Yankees in 1995. I graduated high school in 2014. Derek Jeter hit a walk off single against the Orioles in his final major league game in Yankee Stadium. That same year Jeter played his final major league game.
For almost the first 2 decades of my life, I grew up with Derek Jeter being a Yankee and that’s a connection I will always cherish. #Respe2t
